I think the Giardano contract brought Buff's contract $$$$ per year down. If Buff sgins for 6 or 7, we have cap problems in 16-17. Just sayin.

which players do you think I am off on? Read up and you will see your posts paying some of these players more than I estimated. If we sign Buff, we are near or over the cap in 2016-2017. Simple math.

You honmestly believe that GMs don 't start thining about the next year's cap until the prior season is over?

Last season, the top 5 scorers had 81-87 points so ya, 100 point centermen (players) are VERY rare.

When do we start worrying about next year's cap? A conscientious GM is worrying about next year's cap right now not next year. TUP, If you don't think there is any reason to worry, jot down what players would be playing and at what cost. See for yourself.

I posted cap hit numbers. Regardless of what Myers is getting, his cap hit is 5.5m. Saying we are in third last place this year so they have plaenty of space in a year or two is something a politician would say...you aren't our premier, are you? Show me how we have room. I just showed you that we don't. Floyd, Trade Enstrom? For What? Who would play LHD?

I will assume the following Troubs 5.9 Scheif 3.9 Lowry 2.5 Hutch 1.5 Ladd 6.25 Morrissey 1.39 Petan .863 Ehlers 1.39 Copp .925 Armia 1.5 This is about 66.1m without Buff. 71 - 66.1 = 4.9m This is 7 D men, 2 goalies and 14 forwards. Armia might not get 1.5 and I might be a bit off on Morrissey's and Ehlers' contracts. Helle might play instead of Hutch and that would bring it down by .65m but I don't think I am far enough off to be unreasonable. If Buff signs for 6m per year, we are still OVER the cap by 1.1m. The more I crunch the numbers, the more I see they cannot afford to re-sign Buff and Ladd.

I'm guessing the cap stays around where it is and they really can't afford Buff. The Jets are going to see a wee bit of a salary cap issue after this season. I originally thought they could afford 13-14 a year on both Buff and Ladd and give Trouba a huge raise and a decent one to both Lowry and Scheif and Hutch. When you sit down with a calculator, it doesn't look like they can do it. It'll put them too near the cap and I don't think True North is ready to spend to the cap yet. In the 2018, 2019 and 2020 season, this team looks like it could be a force to reckon with. They could get around it for a few years by signing Trouba to a bridge deal but I would lock Trouba up for 8 years if he would sign it. I'd easily give him 48m for 8 years.

A totally inept OC that never should have been hired needs to be fired. Promote Howell and/or Buck or get someone else in here but MB has to go. Firing MOS in mid-season is pointless. Let RH or someone come in and do what for the next 8 games. Turn the team around and win the GC? Not going to happen. Let the year play out, without MB, and see what shakes out. Make in and all other changes after the season. I wonder what Henoc thinks when he looks at his old team?

Lipon was born in 93 as was Armia and Serville (no chance to make the Jets). Copp in 94, Kosmo in 94, , Kitchton in 92, Hellebuyck in 93, Olsen in 94, and Phillips in 93. Armia has to **** or get off the pot as does Lipon and Kosmo, they at least have to show great improvement. Serville won't make the team...Copp has a great chance...Hellebuyck is a matter of when and Olsen and Philips stillhave time......Kitchton has an important season coming up. He has to play well or he will go waaaaaaaaaaaay down the prospect list. I know you are really high on Lemiwux but do you honestly think he makes the team before Copp?

Ehlers, Morrissey, Armia, Copp and Petan are the only rookies I see with a good chance of craking the lineup. No way all 4 will make it. How many will? I think Morrissey has a good chance of staying with the club but not as good a chance as Ehlers. If I were a betting man, I would say 3 forward spots are open. Ehlers, Armia, Copp and Petan along with Peluso, Thorbs and Halischuk are all vying for these spots. Fraser spends the year with the Moose. This means 4 players will not fill these spots. I honestly think Thorbs, Peluso and Hali (not often though) will take up about 90-100 games. This leaves Ehelrs. Armia, Copp and Petan for just under two spots. I think Petan starts with the Moose and so does Copp. Armia gets a shot at the big team to see if he can stay. I am hoping Morrissey has a great camp and pre-season and makes the big team right from the start. Probably wrong on Copp/Armia but who knows.

I'm not sure Kosmo makes the team but Lemieux will.

Kosmo has a chance of playing before Christmas 2016. McCambridge said he came on strong in the 2nd half of the season last year. Another good season maturing with the Moose and he might get some 4th line time before the end of 2016 on the big team. I think Lemieux has a better chance of cracking the lineup and sticking for longer and have a bigger role to play but I don't necessarily think Lemieux makes the team first. Those two wingers with Copp would be a nice 4th line or Lowry between Lemieux and Harkins would be a nice 3rd. Frickin hockey can't start soon enough.
