Up to two returners can line up in a "landing zone" between the goal line and the 20-yard line. No one other than the kicker and returner(s) can move until the ball hits the ground or hits a player inside the landing zone. In the event a team wants to attempt an onside kick, it will have to inform officials of its intent and would then be allowed to use the NFL's traditional formation. bustamente Posted March 26 Report Share Posted March 26 Really they just need to get rid of kickoffs, you win the coin flip and either you take the ball or let the other team take the ball, through the years they have neurtered the kickoffs for safety reasons and that's fair but there is no reason for kickoffs anymore. It's weird that they've done everything to the kickoff to eliminate it except get rid of it. The kickoff is already dead in the NFL and yet it's still around like a relic.
