One of the fondest memories I have is the playoff game vs Hamilton in the supposed last game at CanadInns, I felt like Ralphie's brother in A Christmas Story I was wearing so many layers and wouldn't change it for the world. Winnipeg is cold, may as well steer into the skid and play these games in the nastiness that is our climate.

I was there all bundled up too, sitting on the benches in the upper deck. What a game! When we left I was certain it was the last game at the stadium too, I bawled like a baby walking away.

This isn't a slight to the players themselves, but why does it seem that the "bad" NFL teams are always the ones bringing in CFL talent for looks?

the "bad" NFL teams are the ones most looking to improve talent... the "good" ones already have established starters, typically have groomed back-ups, and draft well... There's a reason Green Bay and New England are perennial favourites...

    Yup definitely agree with that!

  3. WINNIPEG, MB –  The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has added international quarterback Dominique Davis, and international defensive back Julian Posey to the practice roster.

Davis  (6-3, 210, East Carolina, July 17, 1989, in Lakeland, Florida) was most recently with Calgary through their 2015 training camp. Davis signed with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in 2012, appearing in one game the following year. After short offseason stints with both Tennessee and Indianapolis, Davis signed with the Stamps in February of 2015. He completed727 or 1,103 passes for 7,192 yards and 62 touchdowns over two seasons at East Carolina. Davis also carried the ball 172 times for 313 yards and 14 scores during that time.

Posey  (5-11, 190, Ohio, July 17, 1988, in San Francisco, California) spent the second half of the 2014 season on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice roster, following stints with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets. The Ohio University alum registered 143 tackles and four interceptions in four seasons with the Bobcats.

The club announces the release of international quarterback Josh Portis. The club has also released international defensive back Don Unamba, international receiver Toney Clemons, national defensive lineman Ettore Lattanzio from the practice roster.

  4. My son had an okay time.. He was asking if it was almost over during the first quater.. Then i got him a horn and I'm sure he annoyed everyone around us.. but there were other kids with them so i didn't really care.. There were ALOT of empty seats around us..

But since we were so slow leaving the upper deck after the game i noticed they were allowing people on the field which i didn't know was a thing :) He was very very happy to play on the field for along time.    he had a meltdown on the way out of the stadium but it was 3 hours past his normal bed time :)

    He Wants to go again.

That last line is what counts!!

Penton speculating that Marve could be cut in favour of Portis, since Portis isn't that far behind Marve, and he's committed to Bombers beyond this season.

That would be a mistake cause Portis stinks.

Stinks as a 3rd Stringer though? I don't think so. Anyone else we bring in as the #3 wouldn't know the playbook or personnel as well as Portis.

adidas and reebok are both awful for football. Can this league go to nike or UA already

Nike isn't MUCH better, but yeah adidas is absolutely horrible. Can't remember much of their football stuff off the top of my head but ever since they took over the NBA, the uniforms have been ****ing garbage.

and any company who produces this is a joke anyways

Hey Mike.. maybe as a fun little competition we should see who can come up with the best looking concept jerseys? It would be cool to see people's perspectives.

Looking at the depth chart for the game, it's probably a good thing it won't be televised.

    Why's that?

Very few of our starters are on the depth chart.  Watching Willy behind that O line would bring back bad memories from last year.  We're obviously not trying to win the game with that group, just looking at the players so I doubt it's going to be much of game.

The whole point of preseason is to get a look at the new guys, very exciting to some. I can't wait to hear it on CJOB.

It's not supposed to be regular season calibre players or playbooks for that matter.

The last season opener in Regina was in 2005 I believe, and the game was delayed due to some cataclysmic downpour. Then the Riders took the opening kick-off back for a TD. First play of the season. It was all downhill from there. What a crappy season that was.

    2005 ... Jim Daley ... Enough said.

    Blech.
