  1. you can cherry pick portions of a season...or portions of a career all you like to support an argument or position on things...but overall...has done not a heck of a lot...and yeah other than his what appears to be anomaly season in 2018 Since 2016 Masoli has thrown for 12 657 yards with 67 TD's to 42 Int's Nichols thrown for 13 420 yards with 79 TD's to 35 Int's both guys played 60 games...which stats would indicate a superior QB?..And how has Matt thrown for a piddly amount when he has more yards than Masoli..but again, we seen all year that yards thrown doesn't equate to wins..so Masoli's 300+ yard games equated to 9 td's vs 7 int's....I'll take Matt's 15 tds's to 3 Int's and 200 yards a game to what Masoli's big numbers netted on the score board.. Failing also to mention those 300+ yard high risk games were against T.O at beginning of the season and the back to back spankings of MTL in games 3 and 4 when they were putrid...both teams were putrid...but against Sask..Cgy and Winnipeg he threw for 169 yards..192 yards and 59 yards (though he got hurt) with 3 TD's and 2 Int's...
  2. When you look at Masoli and his career though he has really only had 1 season worthy of top end QB money...his TD to int ration is less than 2:1 which isn't remarkable at all, and has only eclipsed 15 TD passes once and is prone to bad turn overs at really bad times trying to force things I am under the belief that he was a benefactor of what June Jones did that one year more than anything and his 3 years as a starter, and the 6 games this year are really pretty pedestrian numbers and as a 32 year old coming back from injury is what he is and isn't going to evolve into more...so I would hope we aren't considering him at all Collaros and Nichols track record alone, and experience as starters (which are more significant) as well as results wise would offer way more as what is going to be a stop gap anyway while Strev (or Mcguire) evolve and grow, or down the road we end up with a different QB altogether not even on the CFL scene yet in terms of top level talent
  3. Yeah he is a bit of an odd duck, but when he was dumped here was pretty much a guy with zip for CFL experience and has since learned the game.
  4. How this team is set up, and the depth and continuity with it even with Lapo departure I would say regardless of who comes in (along with Strev which is key) we won't miss a beat..especially when that O-line gets locked down with the last 2 key free agents
  5. Hard to say but almost sounds like a guy weighing whats best for him to win, and be safe, and be in a good environment, as well as having wifes input in perhaps thinking more of self preservation now, as opposed to convenience, as they said been in some bad situations previous and look to avoid Amazing what a solid organization from top to bottom will do, as well as chance of winning, and obviously as from his mouth itself the fact we have a dominant and strong o-line which he loved playing behind and sees that as a reason to stay safe and possibly injury free...and really if he is used in same way as he was with Strev he's less likely to take that one shot that could KO him...his rep load alone at being 50-60 percent of norm could do wonders for him in terms of cumulative hits over course of season, and I think Strev would learn a lot more, and develop a lot better watching and playing behind/with Collaros...will be interesting to see how this shakes out
  6. Well that was pretty much the biggest hurdle...no?...now find a piece of land and get er done
  7. hahahah...ooops...was never a fluid typist
  8. Boy that Gallimore would look delightful rotating in at DT with Richardson and Nevis...dare to dream but doubt he ever sets foot in a CFL stadium..though i wouldnt mind if we used a 3rd rounder on him...we can afford a flyer with our depth
  9. me either...he had ran his course..we got a cup..as did he..time fr him to move on and cement his legacy, or confirm his limitations..we will be fine, and the play book we had last year is the Winnipeg Blue Bombers playbook..not property of Lapo with legal conditions we can't use it..But Buck will certainly augment it, and add new things, and I bet be less passive....but for all we know a lot of it could have been Buck's influence...we shall see,
  10. basically as that whole year went...hope to get a few scores and have defense hold them..or chip in...we played 99% of time to not make an error and not do anything to lose the game..as opposed to go out there and grab the game by the onions and win it outright...
  11. Hamilton will look at it as they are going to be paying around 600k to 700k for their 2 QB's regardless...as will most teams so really who cares who is starting game in and game out...They use that ,omey elsewhere and Evan's regresses..or gets hurt do you really think they will be happy rolling out Watford??..or some other cheap in-experienced putz?..
  12. Liked Neufelds comment that re-upping was a no brainer..and he'd be in ears of others to as well for a Title Defense...I feel this is a similar sentiment among this group and we will be easily keeping our must haves/wants...
  13. and don't blame him...You would think Huff would afford him the same treatment that Walter's did Kongbo..
  14. deepest in league by far...
  15. Key signing if you ask me..Get Hardick and Bryant finalized and we are back to our Grey Cup starting (dominant) line...with Gray and Eli in pipeline and most likely means we are moving on from Couture..which is fine by me as Desjarlais/Eli and Gray all have better upside...He served us well for 4 years..we got him a ring..I bet we see him in Ottawa
  16. Jefferson has to be on active roster, and for more than league minimum..so unless they offer him a signing bonus of over 90k...which is what he'd be out from a CFL deal while trying out in TC there (where players are not paid) then I doubt he signs a deal there...also I believe what he would need as a bonus is more than the amount that NFL teams are allowed now for bonuses for free-agent guys..I think, as they did cap it Kongbo has PR time...no family to take care of..can afford to sit on a PR a while, and would be a league minimum guy SMS as well
  17. Wonder if Kongbo and Willie will be working out together today in Miami..and wonder if it's going to be a choice of one..over the other for Miami if it comes down to they wanna sign a guy...You would think Kongbo would get the nod based on age..potential...size..I do know they are both there today
  18. makes one wonder of lapo's faith in himself and his ability to be a leader and turn a situation around, in choosing Ottawa over Edmonton When you look at it Edmonton is the better team all around..Have a QB, a way better defense...better depth, and also logistically is a lot closer to his wife's family/extended family, yet he choose to go across country, to a team with no QB...arguably a tire fire, and a GM who is rumored difficult to deal with Looks to me he tried to take the safe path and go to a spot where being mediocre will most likely result in a play-off spot in the weaker east, as opposed to battling WPG/CGY/SSK and I bet even BC this year for a play-off spot...choose his destination like he coached/called a game...safe with minimal risk.. To me that reeks of lack of true confidence in ones self
  19. Lapo has been, and always will be a notorious cautious overly safe coach..not prone to taking chances and risks...luckily the last few years he had a Harris..Medlock and a real good o-line to compensate for it, and squeeze the most out of the offence in terms of points..can't see that narrative changing, especially in his first bit as the new HC...He is going to want to minimize errors and turn overs and not give his team chances to screw up...could be a slow start there for them.. You could even see at times here the last year and a bit guys frustrated with play calls and the end result, and some guys loafing it at times as they knew they were just window dressing...and teams at times totally ignored our guys knowing there was not going to be a ball headed to them Pierce's offence is going to come out strong, because teams will not be used to a lot of the knew wrinkles we are gonna show, or how guys are going to be used...This as well should have a huge impact on a Whitehead/Grant in the offence, and hopefully Woli
  20. that was more a play on words....he was working hahah...and sitting too
  21. and most likely be his demise in the end...happy for him but he seems to me like the kind of coach who needs to focus on one..or the other and doing both overwhelms him..well it's what happened before...has he changed?..guess we will see..he won't have the pieces there to lean on that he did here
  22. No ill will there...he was able to work and make more money doing whatever it was back home as opposed to PR spot..with 3 guys ahead of him and no chance save for injuries..I hope he is back..One of guys who stood out to me at camp as a new comer along with Stove, Bailey and Walker...I have no doubt that if we didn't have Willie..Or Jeffcoat he would have been in our rotation in Roh's role until Kongbo stepped up
  23. I agree..this off season is not nearly as daunting..desperate..stressful.. full of question.. sure we have and may lose a piece or two..but lots still in place..others also in house and this place has become a preferred destination And we are grey cup champs...and next year reigning champs..cant complain
  24. Woli's lack of use may have persuaded him to look elsewhere as well next yr....maybe this loss of Lapo may swing in a positive light for certain free agents
