  1. He was a mess...no question about it.

For those who aren't following along on Twitter, Mack says it's basically a non-issue and that it's his understanding that the whole thing will just go away. Hefney will play tomorrow vs Toronto, and his status with the club will be judged solely on his performance, and not anything to do with this incident.

What a relief. The very last thing we need to be doing is start cutting otherwise perfectly capable players over petty things like this, least of all impact players like Hefney.

  2. The ALL CAPS is waay too much.

I just get the feeling they're going to want a mulligan on this decision 5-10 years down the road. Obviously ownership is completely set on the name; I don't think they got much positive feedback when it was leaked a few months back. Think if they wanted too, they could have changed it.

...I like the OTTAWA ALLCAPS, now that you mention it.

  3. When I was buying individual seats for the home opener for a buddy of mine, we were able to use a seat selector. Each and every individual seat was shown, and anything that was taken was greyed out. So I think they already have something like that in place... I only hope I can use this feature next year when I renew my season tix.

  4. Howdy neighbors. I'm in section 204, row 9. Very good sight-lines from both of my seats. I must say that one of my 2 seats suffers from one of those extra safety rails that were installed later during construction, but only barely... partially cutting off my view of the southwest corner of the field. If I lean slightly forward it's good, I think I'll live.

I'm coming from the front row upper deck at CanadInns, and I can tell you the experience in this new upper deck is going to be amazing. You feel much closer to the action and less of an afterthought in the stadium design. Only having to go up a few short flights of stairs or riding one of the many elevators to get to the very top is a nice change from the winding ramps. I have a feeling that crowds will have an easier time dispersing thanks to all sorts of exits.

It's a pretty special place, I can't wait to see it in full swing.

  5. The anti-DB97 sentiments in this thread are laughable. He's one of the greatest Bombers of all time, period. He's everything a CFLer should be. Canadian, Elite-level talent, lived in Wpg year round and contributed countless hours in the community. One of the greatest CFLers of all time, bar none. Ridiculous to think he won't be considered Top 5 in 30 years...ridiculous.

I'm skimming back through the comments... seems more like 'pro-other guys' than 'anti-DB97' but that's just me. DB97 was stellar, if Cup-less. From where I sit, Stegall gets the nod because of all the records he set, despite not winning a Cup. Bud Grant also seems like a pretty good choice, if a Coach were to be featured.

At this point, it doesn't really matter, now does it? Doug Brown deserves to be honored, no matter what.

Edit: 'Dough' Brown would be a terrible nickname.

  6. If selections were being made 20-30 years from now, I agree DB97 wouldn't likely have made the cut. But he is instantly recognizable to most current fans, he's Canadian, he's a Winnipeg resident.. oh, and he's a 7 time CFL All-Star.

Now... I personally would have put Chris Walby ahead of Doug Brown. He was a 9 time CFL All-Star, Winnipeg born and raised, and is also a Winnipeg resident. If current Bomber fans aren't aware of who Chris Walby is, they should be.
