  1. Buck can be super successful when running rollouts as long as he knows when to get rid of the ball if nothing has developed.  He's still got a habit of trying to force something if he has run out of room in front of him.  He's also hurt himself a few times throwing mid-hit and landing awkwardly.

Yea he is not known to give up on a play, thats for sure.. If he develops the knack for throwing it away at the right time or just getting down to avoid the big hit.. what am I saying, we've been saying this for 4 seasons already lol

  2. Agree. Wasn't overly impressed with him last season, but yes, things were getting better (too little, too late unfortunately) so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with now that he's in complete control of the offense and had time to work with them. And of course, keeping Buck safe is key.

I agree with the need to keep the QB upright and protected.. I like the idea of bringing in the new kid Fitzie to block and give him an option to keep defenses honest.  Hopefully the O-line coupled with the new look offense will help Buck stay off the turf..

  3. Thing about that was Hefney was honest.  He said I'm a league all-star as a weakside HB and I don't think our team is better with me at SAM vs me at WHB.  He went out that game in Toronto and had the best game of any SAM we played last season, of course we lost the game with Jovon getting burned deep while playing half, a game that Hefney and a handful of defenders kept us in with virtually no thrust from the offence outside of Simpson.  He didn't refuse to play the position, he didn't give any less than his best effort while playing SAM and in the end he was right.  I have no problem with a player saying what his preference is and going out and playing his best no matter where he is lined up.  If he would have refused to play (Armstrong) or been insubordinate in anyway it would be completely different IMO.

very well said.  couldn't agree more.

  4. Hefney lost of a lot of his lustre to me when he pitched a fit about playing SAM last year. Not the kind of attitude you want to see on a team. While people were jumping all over Johnson for being terrible, I was more ok with him just playing poorly because at least he was willing to do whatever the team wanted him to do. Not a lot of patience for me first players.

While I agree to an extent, he does have a point.. if you cut off your nose to spite your face your not really doing yourself any favours.. Hefney in the LB corps would have made our already poorly playing secondary that much worse.. I believe thats why he was complaining about the move..

unless it was solely personally motivated (trying to pad DB stats to get NFL look or whatever) in which I agree, no place for that the team..

  5. Maybe each row gets its own shop vac.

I still say free boooties for everyone!  they actually give em out in Italy right now as one of their most popular and touristy cities is currently under a ton of water.. as soon as you arrive, they give you these water proof shoe/boot covers to slosh around in.

  6. I love Burkes attitude as a head coach. No bullshit, just play your asses off and everything will work out. Really hope it translates into a better record this year. There were some concerns when he took over last year, but hopefully with him being able to put his stamp on the team from the get go everyone buys in.

These are the coaches that I love to have on my team.. Its nice to have a players coach but then the clubhouse mentality sets in.. Burkes no nonsense attitude is awesome.

  7. Squeegees aren't really a solution for the seating area. You'd just be pushing the water on someone else. I remember the ballpark didn't drain well when it opened and the grounds crew had to come up with a system to move water out. I'm a little worried about this too because being in the first row of the lower deck I noticed on Thursday that my whole section was draining down to the first row and collecting there. It was worse at the bottom of the steps than in the seats, but we'd definitely have soaked socks if we had to sit in that puddle during a game.

I was thinking they would/could squeegee or broom it to the drains (I have to assume there plumbed in, just not in the best of spots.)

  8. Dunno if it'll ever silence 'em, but I'm excited to see Pencer and Etienne show well. Both have huge potential, so it's just a matter of living up to their ceiling...

I think as long as both make the 42 and show up as contributors either as depth or as starters (if need be) then we should be happy.  I think Jade is more so on the clock though to make something happen then Pencer is.

  9. I have to admit I haven't paid much attention to him when I've been at camp but the thing I DO notice about him is he no longer stands out as *that* guy who is built like a twig compared to every other receiver.

He's never going to have a bulky lower body but you can really tell he's added a considerable amount of muscle in his upper body ... even his back looks wider.

Rod Black, is that you?   :P

  10. Does this mean I have to stop taking shots at Etienne now?

lol well maybe not quite yet.  Lets see what happens by mid-season.. If he has some catches and other noteworthy things besides going off-side... THEN ya can lay off :D

definitely good to see he is getting some praise though, It would be nice for him to get on the field and prove he belongs..
