There's no real way to handle these situations and I'm not sure why a professional would expect or want a team to close a door on them. Maybe the Bombers have a couple free agent targets on D and if they don't sign them they'd circle back on Bighill. They have no obligation to publicize their off-season strategy to make Bighill feel comfy.

I mean it's basically two weeks until the tampering period. Would players rather be strung along with love and then hit the market? Maybe depending on what happens in the tampering period the Bombers would make an offer for Bighill. I honestly don't know what's running through Bighill's head and why he thinks he'll get paid enough for it to be worth his while to keep playing.

Yeah I don't have a lot of time for the 7 OL stuff. They roll that 1st and 10 or 2nd and short-medium mostly. But you'll see backs and receivers filling in if they go max protect on a passing down. Most of the time we had OL in there and they struggle in pass pro off the edge anyways. It only helps the run if the defense shorts themselves on the play side. OC needs to impress on Collaros that he has to manage blitzes better and hit hot routes. But you also need to design plays that give that option. Bombers with Buck Pierce would run some quick hitter stuff but a lot of plays you're looking and the only outlet is Oliviera who also might be in there trying to give Collaros space to attempt a vertical throw. The other thing we might see is more of a commitment to the zone run game and maybe a little less trust on having a guy just make a play. Hit the target and go or make one cut at the target. Let's get 5 yards every play.

If you need time to go downfield you need to outnumber the rush. Football 101 You can pretty much count on 5 guys coming most passing downs so that's why you usually see 6 guys blocking. Regardless of how many guys are blocking the QB's pre snap are reading 2-3 guys in a route. So if you have 6 guys out wide all you're doing is widening out the field which works for quick game stuff. Doesn't really matter if you're more vertical based.

Again though, this is where the NFL is insane in how it evaluates guys. There's 30 receivers in the CFL today that would be more useful to them in 2025 or 2026 even. But they totally pass on the higher floor guys and waste time on guys that have done almost nothing on a football field for years because they looked really good when they were 17. Ajou will probably blow out his knee or something and they'll end up paying him six figures USD to do nothing for 2 years. One day some NFL GM will realize there's actual useful players sitting right here that they can plug into roles almost immediately.

They haven't played with more Canadians than required. They used more Canadians on O and D, yes.

I don't mind it if it's a back to back. But bullshit if not. We have a bunch of back to backs they could have tighter weeks between. Also crazy how much we play BC and Calgary in the first 8 games.

Lawler has played 62% of games the past 3 CFL seasons. Schoen has played 68%.

If he could he would've been their starter. His NCAA career shows that he's a specialist. Shiltz and Dolegala are basically the same as decent QB's but have opposite flaws. Shiltz can't do anything vertical. Dolegala struggles with accuracy in mid-range. If Collaros is the starter, Dolegala is a way easier guy to slot in as a backup IMO because we are built on vertical passing game.

On a vet laden roster that WIL LB spot should be a rookie salary. Especially when the incumbent is in steep decline and cannot stay healthy. Not going to win in 2025 with 2021's roster.

Difference was definitely personnel. We were used to having guys like Jeffcoat and Sayles who are explosive. Hall rarely rushed more than 4 and almost never more than 5. Not like we were running some zone blitz scheme. We've had the same issue for 2 years now. Saw a little bit of that from Adams and Woods, but nothing from the edge guys. Need to do a lot of work recruiting there on both sides of the border and with the Global players.

That's exactly how it is. If he comes back to CFL he comes back to Bombers until end of his current CFL contract. If you watch any NCAA bowl game there's 2-3 guys per game better than a guy like Wilson. He'd do pretty good to make it through OTA's and into August. The NFL is completely saturated at receiver and he doesn't really have a way to make the game roster unless he's one of the top 3 receivers on a team.

Insane to me that a guy like Wilson gets a shot based on his CFL resume which was pretty meh (if I was going to Madden rank him as a CFL player he’d be about 80 with some unrealized potential) but a guy like Schoen can’t get a legit shot. Even Lawler although there might be some emotional regulation analysis attached to him. I get age…although if you get 1-2 good years out of a UDFA guy you’ve done pretty good. Schoen is also the ideal kind of tweener slot receiver/tight end guy. Wilson doesn’t really have size or speed going for him at pro level. Can win in man, started to understand his job better with more time with Collaros as a rookie.

Interesting fact about Edmonton last year... They had the #1 offense by points per game, yards per game and rushing yards per game and yards per carry with MBT starting. They dropped to 8th in points, yards and yards per carry when Ford started. I'm quite happy they've gone "all-in" on Ford. Good luck to them on their quest to finish higher than 4th in the division with him.

He's played a substantial amount in 3 games since his knee injury and in one of those games he tore his achilles....so yeah, every other game.

Masoli's joints are failing him. If he wants to be more of a 3rd QB/QB coach I'd consider it. But you need another guy who can reasonably play if you bring him in. Ottawa was a good spot for him with Crum too. Personally I'd be interested in Stevens from Calgary to be a run weapon. And then decide if Wilson is worth developing further. They don't really have to decide that until training camp, and if they want to keep 4 QB's around, use the injured list to do it. I'd keep someone like Dolegala as our actual backup passing QB.

Probably not enough to lock him in a starter though. Could easily add another guy at 350 to compete. That's basically total compensation they were already paying him and MBT. Also had the guarantee on Cornelius.

Would be pretty easy to do better at LB next year. Find a guy who can play WIL. Guys we cut went nowhere. Petrishen is like 30.

Nah Wade Miller's son and nephew were both really good players. His son is at Guelph, nephew stayed at U of M. His son is a solid MLB but was insanely athletic for WHSFL. Easily could have played tailback.

BC just re-signed 3 guys that they cut in camp and didn't keep around much during season. Pool is a lot shallower with expanded NFL rosters and no restrictions on practice rosters plus increased pay.

Same amount of Americans and Canadians on the roster. Who is an American guy they are holding back?

The biggest issue here with the team starting to crumble is that they aren't really finding guys on the US side who make a difference. Look at receiver/running back/receiver. We had 20 guys in camp and the only one who ended up not being a total dud was Ontaria Wilson, who is an average talent level CFL receiver. Rush end. WIL LB. Kicker/punter (Globals included who are mostly playing in US). They've been great at finding DB's and found Schoen. They've hit some home runs but also had some major whiffs. Need more singles and doubles.
