  1. Good for guys if they get opportunities at Power 5 schools in the states or NFL. On our current staff maybe you'd be worried about losing Costello or Boudreau. The rest don't really have resumes that would get them into the big schools right away. Costello is a disciple of Wylie which gives him a lot of cred, and he performs well at a lot of big coaching clinics. Great speaker. As for the CFL, I like the level playing field. Assistant coaches aren't getting paid anywhere but the top of NCAA or NFL. Wife's cousin is DC/position coach in the Northern Sun which is D2 in the US. There's only 3 paid coaches on the staff and only one is a full-time spot, combined with a professor job in the Phys Ed faculty. He's worked in a couple FCS conferences too, which is what used to be 1-AA, where guys like Lapo came from, more paid coaches there but like head coach and coordinators in six figures at the big programs the rest get paid as part-timers. If they can make money off running camps and stuff can avoid getting another real job. I'm not too worried about the CFL missing out on coaching talent. It's still quite clearly the 3rd best spot to coach in the world behind NFL and very top of NCAA, and the best spot for Canadian coaches.
  2. I don't think he has the mobility needed to play in this era. If you lack the mobility you better have one hell of an arm/ability to make pre-snap reads. Don't see it at all. Think he's a fine guy to stick around as a backup for awhile if he wants to. If you're a good team, say the Bombers, and you lose your starter, you could be pretty confident in Maier being a .500 QB for you.
  3. Fajardo won't know how to call plays for a QB that could actually pass the ball.
  4. Kongbo is injured, not dressed. But for Bennett, they flipped the ratio to get the 3 import ends on and clearly don't see him as good enough to get reps in that rotation. So not sure why he'd stick around unless Hamilton cleans house.
  5. Edwards should be done in the league.
  6. Not really sure what the operations cap has to do with anything. More of a natural evolution of an organization. Teams aren't leaving the GM's unsigned to make sure they have a LB coach and a RB coach. There's a lot more to it.
  7. Montreal plays like this next week they'll probably lose by 3 TD's. Fajardo has nothing left in that arm, and he didn't have anything to start with.
  8. Brown will know Hamilton's next President of Football Operations quite well.
  9. Likely Labour Day if being realistic so out for more than half of next season. He isn't exactly known for being a quick recovery or gym rat type.
  10. To me, Masoli's only hope is to sign somewhere as a backup and wait for an injury. But for like 90k and incentives. Kind of wonder if he might look to the XFL. There's no way Ottawa doesn't cut him.
  11. Who the **** is Kai Gray?
  12. Didn't win a single game vs Winnipeg, Toronto or BC. I'd give either Dickenson the award first.
  13. Ambles could likely slot in for Schoen. I think Bailey is fine. Could also use BOLO, dress Murphy and flip that American spot to the secondary or DL.
  14. Collaros and Oliviera both surged past Adams in the 2nd half. Adams choked away BC's shot at first place and the Bombers stepped on him and BC on the way to first place.
  15. Hasn't missed under 40. Missed 2 40-49, 2 50+ and 2 extra points.
  16. Lots of people build narratives but don't actually understand the game. A lot of these vet QB's people have name recognition for are beyond done, but they don't get it. Like viewing football through the lens of a wrestling (not the real kind) fan. All they need to do with these kicks is keep continuity of downs, adjust the rule wording so that still applies. So if it's 2nd and 20, you pull that kick and recovery off but you need to gain the 20 yards for a 1st down. You can't just fall on it on the other side of the LOS for a 1 yard gain and get first down.
  17. All the rule has to be is that the recovered kick is like any play from scrimmage....so you need to gain the yardage for a first down. Pull the play on 2nd and 10, gain 2 yards, then it's 3rd and 8 for example.
  18. Nah, he's just a mega creep. More than a few in Winnipeg experienced it in his time here. But you can't penalize Kelly because the Argos spent the whole season kicking ass and takin names, dontchaknow? Dinwiddie personally had to stop Kelly from scoring more TDs!
  19. And trying to peddle his influence on every 22 year old girl in a broadcasting school between Vancouver and Halifax.
  20. Guy plays every damn down on offense too. Which is unusual for a running back in this era (like the past 30 years). Excellent in pass protection which is huge on top of being the most productive offensive player in the league when he has the ball. The guy is involved in every play. It's not like he's a wideout that is just having a jog when the route is on the other side of the field. Betts plays 2/3 of BC's defensive snaps.
  21. Agreed on Masoli and Harris. Harris has an injury that most guys who have it in their late 20s never recover from. Not exactly like he looked like he could play before that this season either. Most games that offense was scoring 1 TD with him. Fine and Dolegala way outplayed him and they weren't good either. Masoli has started 14 games in the past 3 seasons and left 4 of them with injuries, 3 of them long-term injuries, 2 season-ending (Game 4 and Game 1 for him in those seasons). Also tore his ACL game 6 in 2019 vs Bombers. Unless he shows up at about 205 pounds I doubt anyone is counting on him to be a player anymore.
  22. Yeah maybe. He's on the wrong side of 30 now. Eventually going to have a year with a lot of new blood here.
  23. Spends most of his time snooping young female TV reporters Instagram accounts.
  24. Pro football is entirely about next season. Brown will get a 3 year deal, but no one will be worried about placating a guy on a rookie deal who has barely started producing. Ford also has eyes on the NFL constantly. Ford also is a terrible passer which will limit his ability to score points/win games as defenses just let him sit in the pocket all day and try to make reads. See the games they needed to win to stay in playoff race back third of this season. Doubt Brown is interested in Edmonton or Montreal though because Jones and Maas ruin QB's lately. He'll have teams where the offensive staff has elevated guys to MOP type play interested in him being their franchise guy. Unfortunately for us those two teams (Calgary and BC) are in our division. Yeah Edmonton will be interested for sure. The way Ford plays too there's very little chance he avoids serious injury for a full season so they'll need someone else. Could easily do the Collaros (or Nichols) and Streveler type deal with Ford. Have a guy who can actually pass.
