Week of BC Lions at Winnipeg - Western Final Edition
JuranBoldenRules replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If Jeffcoat goes out we probably lose. If Jeffcoat went out and we had a Haba or Garbutt in, better chance to win. Hansen is a nice rotational filler guy but isn't getting a ton of pressure back off injury. -

If Demski can't go...Murphy comes on, McCrae moves to starter. If Bailey can't go...Ambles comes on. If McCrae can't go, and Bailey can't go...Ambles comes on and probably Winston Rose. -
Week of BC Lions at Winnipeg - Western Final Edition

They'd be able to put guys on to replace guys who can't go. I'm less worried about receiver and more worried about thin secondary and DL could bite us in the ass as a game goes on. -
That guy is basically a scouting intern. He's been nowhere near operating a football team.
-
I don't believe it's any real conflict in the organization. Walters has been doing 24/7/365 type jobs for most of the last 15 or so years. It appears that he is ready to take a step back. That's pretty clear. His kids are both high school aged and his wife has been developing her own career. He seems like a guy ready to take more time on that end. The Hamilton stuff is just speculation given how that's lining up and potential for him to be more of the big picture guy in that front office than the take care of every detail role.

Freezing rain and snow all week. 0 and sunny south wind for Saturday.
-
The way Calgary played tonight on their front you could have thrown for 300.
-
I don't know. Maier didn't make it to the 4th Q of this game last year. Think BC looks about the same. Calgary is pretty bad. Benavides is dressed like he's going to a Look Like the Biggest ****** contest post-game.
-
BC receivers dropping more than a few in 21 degrees of pure comfort.
-
Calgary can't rush the pass or pass protect. No need to respect their QB so real easy to defend. Really soft opponent for BC tonight.
-
Pretty good sign you need to recruit some guys and not just sign guys over 30 cut by other CFL teams. Calgary has been dismal of late in finding any players aside from guys coming back from NFL or guys off other teams.
-
Maier isn't capable of going toe to toe with any of the QBs in this league that are half decent. They've had the ball as many times as BC. He turned it over and did nothing with opportunity when BC took the roughing the kicker penalty.
-
91 on Calgary is like if we had to play Bennett every down. Guy is just useless and getting exploited badly.
-
It's a confluence. Walters going home anyway and Hamilton having some big changes. Steinauer has wanted out for a couple years but hung on for Bob Young. Both Walters and Steinauer want to go home for family reasons, not any big organizational issues. Hamilton has a nice setup for Walters with the AGM's to just be the guy who oversees the football operation, not a rebuild.

Good for guys if they get opportunities at Power 5 schools in the states or NFL. On our current staff maybe you'd be worried about losing Costello or Boudreau. The rest don't really have resumes that would get them into the big schools right away. Costello is a disciple of Wylie which gives him a lot of cred, and he performs well at a lot of big coaching clinics. Great speaker. As for the CFL, I like the level playing field. Assistant coaches aren't getting paid anywhere but the top of NCAA or NFL. Wife's cousin is DC/position coach in the Northern Sun which is D2 in the US. There's only 3 paid coaches on the staff and only one is a full-time spot, combined with a professor job in the Phys Ed faculty. He's worked in a couple FCS conferences too, which is what used to be 1-AA, where guys like Lapo came from, more paid coaches there but like head coach and coordinators in six figures at the big programs the rest get paid as part-timers. If they can make money off running camps and stuff can avoid getting another real job. I'm not too worried about the CFL missing out on coaching talent. It's still quite clearly the 3rd best spot to coach in the world behind NFL and very top of NCAA, and the best spot for Canadian coaches.

CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

I don't think he has the mobility needed to play in this era. If you lack the mobility you better have one hell of an arm/ability to make pre-snap reads. Don't see it at all. Think he's a fine guy to stick around as a backup for awhile if he wants to. If you're a good team, say the Bombers, and you lose your starter, you could be pretty confident in Maier being a .500 QB for you. -
1st Round Of Playoffs: Division Semi-Finals Week

Fajardo won't know how to call plays for a QB that could actually pass the ball. -
Kongbo is injured, not dressed. But for Bennett, they flipped the ratio to get the 3 import ends on and clearly don't see him as good enough to get reps in that rotation. So not sure why he'd stick around unless Hamilton cleans house.
-
Edwards should be done in the league.
-
Not really sure what the operations cap has to do with anything. More of a natural evolution of an organization. Teams aren't leaving the GM's unsigned to make sure they have a LB coach and a RB coach. There's a lot more to it.
-
Kyle Walters.
-
Montreal plays like this next week they'll probably lose by 3 TD's. Fajardo has nothing left in that arm, and he didn't have anything to start with.
-
Brown will know Hamilton's next President of Football Operations quite well.
