  1. Problem with trading Enstrom is most other teams aren't likely going to want to acquire another D-man, especially since they would be forced to protect him. And those that would take him would have to get Toby's blessing with his NMC. PLUS if you don't get a top 4 DMan back in a trade, we take a hit in our top 4 D next season. If you do get a DMan back for Toby, you are right where you started. So slim chance of him being traded IMO. Jets lucked out with the timing here a little bit. We can protect 4-D and not lose a very significant forward. A year later and players like Ehlers would have to be protected, forcing us to only protect 3 D.
  2. General Fanager has a pretty good mock expansion tool if you have the patience to go through every team to figure out their protectees, then draft the leftovers for Las Vegas. Of course rosters will change a lot between now and the expansion draft. Can't see many UFAs getting a NMC this off season. http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/expansion For the Jets, I would protect: F: Wheeler, Little, Scheifele, Lowry D: Byfuglien, Engstrom, Myers, Trouba G: Hellebuyck Likely lose one of Burmi, Copp, Dano, Armia. If one of those guys has a breakout season next year, could swap one of them for Lowry.

  4. Expansion to Las Vegas is on.
  5. First, One Way or Two Way contracts have nothing to do with waivers. That just determines the salary they make in the AHL if they make it there. Age and games played determine whether or not a player has to pass through waivers. My understanding is that all waiver eligible players are considered to be in the NHL in the off season and have to clear waivers again at the beginning of the next year.
  6. Nice dodge. So to be clear on this, you still believe Jackson was not a pedophile and was only extorted?
  7. I don't know if you have children or not, but here is the bottom line question.... If he were still alive today, given all that you have read and researched, would you let your kids (or nephews or nieces or whoever) sleep over at his house unsupervised? I sure know my answer.
  8. This article was posted yesterday, and while initial reports just said he had porn, this article details it more to be specifically naked men and boys. Also in the opinion of experts, it is the type of photographs used to lower the inhibitions of children. Then if you read all the way to the bottom of the article, there is this nugget. So how about both extorted and a pedophile.
  9. I think the coaches can work around that. Comrie gets most of the starts. Pavelec is the backup in that case. I know it would not be the ideal situation, but that would be a poor reason to keep Pavelec up with the Jets if that was the reason they were hesitant to send him down.
  10. Go back a page.
  11. With the season starting this week, we will also be kicking off the weekly Pick ‘Ems contest. Due to the board software being upgraded, we no longer have the software integrated, but will be using polls to track weekly picks. People will receive one point for each correct pick. Winner of the contest will be getting a $50 gift certificate to the Bomber store. Picks must be in before the first game of the week. This week, that is Thursday @ 6:30PM
  12. Even if they pick him, Matthews as a consolation prize isn't a bad thing.
  13. The 50/50 ticket does not come with a game ticket. Had TrueBlue4ever gone to the game, there is no guarantee he would bought a 50/50 ticket at the same time or from the same sales person as she did, and therefore it does not mean he would have won. There is no law suit to be had here. It is cool she gave something back to you.
  14. I think Maata and Trouba are a pretty interesting comparison. Maata just signed 6 years @ just over $4M Here is a comparison of their stats over the last 2 years. Note that this also includes Maata's playoff games (only option for more than one year comparison). http://dobberhockey.com/frozenpool_compare.php?compare[]=3625&compare[]=3614&sent=go&games=YEAR%3AR|P%3A201[34] This is a look at just last season: http://dobberhockey.com/frozenpool_compare.php?compare[]=3614&compare[]=3625&sent=go&games=2015-2016%3AR%3A99 Trouba has a slight edge in points but that is mostly due to more ice time and less games missed (staying healthy does count for something ... point per game they are almost equal). Trouba has a huge advantage in physicality (hits and blocks) but has also almost double the amount of giveaways. Contract wise, Maata is a year younger so you would be buying one more year of UFA if you went 6 years for Trouba. That would increase the price (4.5 - 5M?). The price would go up even more if you went longer term.
  15. Really depends on term.
  16. I think this thread has run its course.
  17. So you want to trade a Grade A prospect with top line potential, who is making under a million dollars next year, to free up cap space to sign Okposo in free agency? Got it.
  18. If Yzerman had any intention to go hard after Stamkos, he would have made a top line offer while he has exclusive negotiating rights. Either Yzerman isn’t coming up to what Stamkos wants or Stamkos wants to leave. Is it possible that Stamkos over values what he can get with where the cap is in the NHL today? Possible. But he won’t find that out until Free Agency. At which point it will likely be too late to make this kind of deal with another team because their cap space will be going to free agents. So Yzerman would have to gamble away Drouin now to free up cap space so he has a chance of signing Stamkos in free agency, and if his gamble fails and he doesn’t get Stamkos, then he got under market value on Drouin for no good reason. He has $19M in cap space right now. Decide which RFAs you want long term, bridge the others to work around Carle’s salary for 2 years, and trade whoever is left and get full market value in picks and prospects on your return to compliment your roster over the upcoming years instead of having to take a discount to dump salary. That would seem a much more reasonable line of thinking when you aren’t painted in a corner and have to dump salary. Put up a poll on HFBoards and get the hockey community's opinion at large. Better yet, put it up in Tampa Bay section.
  19. The situation is not at all the same. Tampa Bay isn't in the same contract hell as Chicago. Chicago HAS to dump salary to even have a remote chance of getting the minimum roster requirements under the cap. And they probably still very well have to dump more. Tampa Bay doesn't HAVE to dump any salary. They could choose to if they wanted to sign Stamkos to a ridiculously huge salary. But that would mean not only do they have to move Drouin today (in your proposal), but likely some of their younger players about to move into larger salaries. It is all about leverage. Chicago has none because everyone knows the situation they are in and they absolutely have to do something. Tampa Bay still has lots of options and flexibility in how they structure their upcoming contract renewals to work around Carle's contract for two years. They can pick and choose who they want to move and get better market value for whoever they have to trade.
