  1. The biggest issue with that is loffler is often in position to make a tackle but sells out for a hit instead. Guys the league over have it figured out and have adapted. If he would adjust as well doing more sound wrap up and take down it would open up his ability to hit some times as well. He has got to be among the league leaders in missed tackles. Mo at S, fenner at sam, then we need a back up rotational db, not a hard spot to fill.
  2. ehh depends on how you define it. Right now id say calgary is the only elite team. And even they have an asterisk. I would put us, ottawa and edmonton in the second tier as contenders. Id personally have us at the top of that pile. We play like an elite team every other game, then we surge and coast in the follow up. We dont have the consistent dominance to be elite yet. Would duron carter make us soo much better that itd be note worth? no. Im a big believe in the guys talents. No can can deny he is an excellent player. But we are stacked at wr this year. We have more guys then we have ability to use. Kenbrell thompkins in edmonton would be top 5 in every category imo. Duron is a better player then adams and dressler. But his negative in terms of head case and chemistry is far too large. We dont have a need at wr right now. I wouldnt take any of our wrs off the roster right now. I could see BC, and montreal being interested. Maybe hamilton. But I think the most likely one in TO.
  3. I loved what Petermann showed. Turned the corner with speed twice and made important gains out of short passes. He is like a young ni dresser.
  4. Now that first part is pure truth. Totally agree. Motivation? Some guys especially the ever prepared types have a harder time now playing then living life. If it isn't that then yeah I can't see why he'd come to the cfl. It might just be a shot at the NFL to go with not going to his hof ceremony.
  5. First star. Big hill. All over the field making plays. Second star the whole dl. They struggled with the adjustment to read option but made Masolis night a nightmare. Third star goes to Harris. Carried the mail again moved the yard sticks and ran down the clock. A tough night not the flashiest but we'd a been hosed with out him tnite. Hh to medlock for dropping the ball then switch kicking it 40 freaking yards. Great night punting in general.
  6. Our group on the DL is among the most talent at rushing the passer that ive ever seen. To think corney has been hurt alot, and westerman left in the offseason and it hasnt had any affect on pressure.
  7. As long as it doesnt involve cheering for the riders (short of it helping our play off picture) It is ok imo. Just try not to cheer too much or you will wake up feeling dirty and cheap in the morning.
  8. I hear the more LBers you dress the better your chances are of winning. Maybe its apart of a new deception tactic. They wont know who is playing what until we line up! list every one as a lber!!!!!!
  9. this is a good point. He is new to us, but not new to the pros. lol. I have no idea if he takes any thing, but contaminated supplements are a HUUUUUGE thing. I like spooner, I hope this was an accident, and if it was an incident I hope he smartens up. To be honest, I dont know that spooner makes "steroid money" 😛
  10. Boxers are among the best conditioned athletes when it comes to violent sports. And boxing is more reliant on fast twitch type actions then half the positions in football. He claimed he still ran a 4.4 ish recently. Sure I dont expect him to be crazy fast by any means. How fast is JFG though? We have seen some pretty slow wrs. The point is, his skill level is soo high that if sharp he could easily over come being slow. Nik lewis wasnt fast since he got stuck at the all you can eat buffet for an entire year, but he sure was effective. Im not saying he would be instantly good, or great. Merely that giving him a look is not a bad idea by any means.
  11. He might. Though he only missed a significant portion of time once in his entire career. George foreman re captured the heavy weight title at 45 years old. And he took greater damage then TO imo.
  12. Need to see a lot of showing blitz then dropping.
  13. and uses his hands to get the ball. A lot of rookie wrs look lost early on. He really looked the part in game one. Had that one brain fart on the deep ball but i didnt think he had the angle to run it in any way.
  14. To certainly wont be at his best. But to be fair, id take him over a lot of the available air lift rookies from down south. The guy has tremendous work ethic, he prepares and gets what it takes mentally, technique is on point. You could reasonable expect him to know the playbook in a few weeks and execute every route at a high level. Imo the vast majority of wrs that never cut it as pros lack the work ethic and football iq. Every one looks at measurables and athletics but if you lack the pro mind set and work ethic it doesnt matter. Now he is a head case, and could easily and quickly become cancerous in the locker room. But its never stopped jones before. For a team like us it wouldnt make sense. For a fist full of other teams in the league I can see it. I really hate how much WRs get away with compared to the kids gloves DBs are forced to wear.
  15. yep. and i certainly have calgarys record with a grain of salt.
  16. all true, but we have also played bc twice and toronto twice as our follow up to ham.
  17. What bridge did barrett burn? He took some very nice ncaa work for a while and is now a positional coach in the NFL. I dont blame the guy at all. Imo he is a gem of a coach too. I think like we did, they go young. Just looking at our team Some one like danny mac and plop. Plop is the HC with his usual hands on offense. He and mac should have some level of chemistry and familiarity. Target successful teams with the right mentality top down. Stamps, bombers etc. You can target the top tier of ast coaches on the rise like steinauer, or you can take the long shot former successful US coach like the cats did with jones or the als tried with sherman. Re hashing a guy like barker, or taman in any role is a poor move imo.
  18. I dont think he has proven nearly enough to warrant much of any thing. A very low pick or neg list name maybe. Meanwhile the leos have travon van who has proven/shown as much as flanders and rainey who just needs better useage imo. The lions are not in a position to mortgage the future right now. On top of that they have some depth and a stud rb who may miss an un known amount of time. I dont see much if any thing happening. It is also the most talent rich position in football and an easier transition then many from the us game. If any thing, I think we would be in a position to swap talent from NI wr (though I wouldnt) young ni OL, dl and lber.
  19. When its forcing turn overs and sacking qbs its elite. When it isnt its among the worst. And when you have elite level talent and regular struggles its bad. A big thing for me as well is his adjustments havent been good this year, and the team tackles poorly out side of a couple excellent one on one tacklers. A lot of tackling is coaching. If he was fired right now, i doubt very much he would have another DC job with in a couple years. If he did, itd be a desperation move by a bottom dweller. He is below replacement level for contending teams.
  20. could be preventive. He missed a big chunk of time, and even being back in shape with out having a TC to ease into game action and game speed a few extra vet days would be wise. Course he could be hurt, its just a possibility. No doubt. The question is, do we gain more from the upgrade of MO at sam then we lose having fenner at db? Either way if both guys are on the field im not worrying about it. 1a and 1b for the best sam in the league. I hope corney is back and healthy soon. He was reallying turning the corner before he got hurt. He is going to make a tough decision next year at DE.
  21. No doubt. This is why you dont give up on a guy like franklin soo fast. If you are gonna develop a rookie qb, give him most of the year if not all of it. If they are tossing 4 picks a game sure pull em. But you gotta stick with a guy to develop them. Now if they go back to franklin the team around him is going to be deflated. Never say never. But it should be. Mega dink. Cant stand that guy. he is what is largely wrong with the next gen big rbs, the tool set to run with power quickly but runs like he is small and just pushes through small guys now and then. He should be able to run through most lbers in the league with ease. The guy has less time at QB since HS then darvin adams has this year... ok not that bad but still pretty bad. This is why its soo important to get young guys with 2, 3 years or more as a starter in college. Even with amazing tool sets with out experience you cant execute.
  22. idk i hate mid week football. thurs at 9pm start time? bleh.
