Yep it’s a race for those vets to beat out guys who aren’t getting nfl camp invites and then nfl cuts. Those guys should be on team friendly deals now. 100%. JJ was great at getting pressure with out giving up his run gap. If any thing a heavier tweener end who is a beast vs the run, maybe screen and in qb contain while being decent at bull rushing on pure pass plays would do well for us. Waggoner I think has a real inside track to start for us in that role while one or more of habba rivers etc rotate. Willy Lawson and fox together could make up the loss of a pressure off the edge as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of the lighter dts who can play outside (like sayles) brought in mid camp as well.

I totally understand what they were going for. Hoping he could improve a bit and contribute situationally. Is what it is. Excited as hell about this draft class though. Just ike and manu not in camp.
-
I think he’s in the same spot as grant and Jj. He probably wants top dollar and not to be on a crap team but the good teams that could use him won’t start him or pay him big bucks. Shame indeed. I’d love him back.
-
Feel like we will be in the market for more DEs right now. 6 ends vs 9 dts. Pretty happy with our off season ol work. Didn’t think Wallace would be in camp thought he’d get an nfl look. I expect a lot out of Vanterpool and Coleman. I would not be surprised if one is the starter to replace Hardrick. Keith is a good talent too, and while I’m not a fan of Lofton atleast he does bring experience and is very far from a default pick at rt. I wonder if we add another K now as well

Tbh I never saw the motor from him that you need to succeed at end, especially here. Guys who lack that don’t improve skills or put in the work to change their physique. The first time you do it is pretty easy and the benefits are great, idk if he’d done it in the past but it didn’t seem like it. bad player from bad draft cut in 2nd camp we’ve been here before. I’m excited to see our current guys and new picks.
-
At end you’re on average giving up 70lbs. Not getting mangled is skill, it’s hand use, ability to maintain separation, moves to get an angle etc.
-
Bennet was a low upside guy as well. He was like 26? When we drafted him. He had some bend and quickness that they hoped would translate to being an early rotational candidate and teams player. Only he wasn’t nearly good enough. This is a great cut. And a great sign for the team this year. Schmekel they probably want to have more inside bodies. Iirc mos talked in a video earlier this year about what they like about him. Big body Canadians are worth keeping around if you think you can develop them. Seems fine for a tc body but barring injury or mass improvement I would expect him to be cut at some point.
-
True but it doesn’t change for full tc
-
They do but 80% of it is fluff.

First point on training camp bingo every year. That said it’s sad that in the early 2ks and prior we got great tc reports from a couple sources each day, and now we get the odd one that is a fraction as good.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

They will probably lay silent for a good while then resort to that once the news isn’t soo fresh. my question now is, what else might the argos be hiding? It would be exceedingly rare for this to have been a one off especially with how much investigation has been required to get to this point. 100% effing percent. Obstruction of a league investigation has to be treated with great severity. -

Yeeep. Bryant is the body type to aim for in terms of athletic ol longevity. The fact yoshi has been listing about the same weight and one inch shorter is hilarious. Bryant could well be under his listed weight but yoshi looks an easy 40lbs heavier side by side in game. A lot has been made (rightfully so) about milts commitment to his body and high level of physical preparation. Stanley Bryant has done the same at a much harder size and position. -

I'd take a bet on the shape yoshi shows up in, I'm sure he will give his max effort and work hard. But no way is he back dieting, working out on the field and in the weight room like he would need to. That's what he really needs to do. Lose a bunch of weight again, and gain enough strength so that he isn't suffering from the loss. He lists as 320, but he's clearly pushing north of 340 again. To get back enough quickness and increase longevity he probably needs to be staying at as close to 300 as possible. Realistically though, he needs to slide inside to guard. -
I'm fine with the pre season games being online and what not, better to have them then not have any thing. Pre season is kind of a sham when it comes to quality any way. That said, I don't think the issue is the size or market of the CFL at all. I think the problem is TSN, and the CFL failing to grow the league/brand. Fans LOVE behind the scenes indepth TC stuff. This is exactly the direction and area to start pushing in with the younger market. The NFL does this very, very well. They put on like 2 hours of the worst TV of the year with the first round of the draft. Can't tell me pre season is worse than that. I'd be fine if they gave us online in stadium feeds with out commercials and maybe pipe in local radio. Or let college and HS AV students run the production. If they gave us a 2 hr show 2-3 times a week that had reporters at TCs, giving reports and news on the goings on, showing some limited highlights, and featuring a more intelligible round table that isn't trashy banter based It'd do great. And the market size would grow considerably.

3 of the top 15 lol, for maybe the worst ol. Just insane. In general a lot of the top list are over paid. A lot of guys getting paid on the fact they used to be good. -

I feel like the whole of the MLSE has that attitude towards the CFL. -
He was at the SC pro day again this year thinking some how he was going to get back to an NFL shot. Said he was up here in the cfl for a year and a half, and some stuff about nothing like being state side. I don't take any of it too seriously especially at his alma mater, but I mean the guy played 2 games here. He's got some decent athleticism and talent. I think he's kind of stuck between dt and de here. Might fit our 2nd dt role well like casey sayles did. But I don't think he's a guy you could have out there with jake thomas or another none nose tackle. Good body for camp, high character high motor guy. I wasn't specifically talking about the last GC. A ton of small changes or improvements would have put us over the top. I actually thought Matty would've been fine in a more limited role. Especially as a QB coach. Maybe even as HC or front office guy. He did have a strong eye for talent and he built the foundations of the evil empire that followed. Magic also flopped at coaching, and mike singletary too. Ted williams in baseball was miserable as a bench boss as well. The old saying "those who can do, those who can't teach" might be more factual in the reverse. "Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you can teach it."

He coached selectively, and was on the sideline micro managing coaching the entire time. Specifically, he coached and trained Kwame brown extensively.

Thing is, it's only a matter of time before they would bring pinball back any way. But if he is the sacrificial goat, every one will turn on them. Not as much because of the public love of pinball, but because every one knows Murphy is the peak of the problem. Cut out every single person below him and you still have the makings of a toxic waste land. If the league acts before the argos, the punishment should be 10x stricter. Because it shows they aren't taking it seriously at all. They are just trying to skate by with the minimum. -
Are these gold top set ups going to be the new 3rd uniforms? They are wicked
-
Mj in basketball as well.
-
Yeah last two years camp and pre season seemed like a foregone conclusion before they even started. I expect a real battle this year. Probably a few fisticuffs.
-
I’m more excited for camp pre season and the regular season than I was the last two years, just because of the optimism about this. I think the mafia has learned how far loyalty should extend and when to cut it off. The raptors just rode championship loyalty into the toilet. We haven’t adapted as fast as the stamps did, but I think we got there.

I see validity in both your points. Thinking back to what it was to be a bomber fan in the past two dark ages this would be crushing. Even with that I and many others defended Harris during his ped positive test not long ago. (His claim was very valid but we never did hear about his independent testing of the allegedly tainted supplement) with that said, the whole victim blaming culture is such a big toxic issue in society right now, the regressive attitudes are much worse on this. Not to mention the victim suffered directly, Harris either way didn’t victimize people. Some of the defences and devils advocate positions has come off really gross with Kelly. Guilt or not, just some real ick factor stuff. I hope all this in the end helps some of those people to see the importance of protecting alleged victims and treating them appropriately. Some times good people get wrapped up on the wrong side of disputes. It’s certainly happened to me in the past. I still think bluto is good people and a good poster.
