  1. I think the way i got it we can roll 3 lines without missing a beat... Throw the 4th out every 2 shifts or so. I dont see why you think Thorburn needs to move up to the second line tho?
  2. Something like this id guess... Ladd-Little-Wheeler Kane-Perreault-Frolik Lowry-Scheifele-Halischuk Peluso-Slater-Thorburn Chiarot-Byfuglien Stuart-Trouba Pardy-Postma
  3. Zach Bogosian expected to miss 4-6 weeks with lower body injury, Enstrom to miss rest of month. Clitsome out two weeks. #nhljets #cbcmb — Jeff Hamilton (@jeffkhamilton) December 4, 2014 No Bogosian, Enstrom, Little or Clitsome at #NHLJets practice today. Bogosian hurt himself after blocking a shot yesterday. #cbcmb — Jeff Hamilton (@jeffkhamilton) December 4, 2014 LOL..... Whats that mean? Bogosian hurt himself after blocking a shot yesterday. #cbcmb Did the shot hurt him or did he get mad and hurt himself after blocking the shot? Sry... i found that funny.
  4. Why do that if you can trade him for an asset, even if its a 3rd round pick? I'd be trying to bring him back to the fold, but if he wont play here, trade him. Dont lose him for nothing. To prove a point. Im pretty sure hes ours for the next 2-3 years if we keep offering him a contract. But eh im all for a trade if you can get something... I just dont think you can. I cant see why any team would want him.... hes a whiner that stomps his feet in a fit when he dont get what he wants when hes proven nothing. Hes talented. I think hes worth the risk if its a small price. I could see him being a throw in to sweeten a trade or a trade of someone else's "problem". I could see a team with some Russian players maybe being interested. I know there was some thought the Pens might be interested in Yakupov thinking Malkin could help him but I'd rather have a guy like Burmi who plays hard all the time. He's be a great winger for Malkin. Washington...maybe. I agree ..... To be really honest id like to see him back here under Maurice. And i also think hes way better and has more upside then Yakupov. That dude is pretty much useless, I dont think he has a hope in hell of ever making himself relevant to any team because he has no interest in learning how to play D and in todays NHL if you dont play D your just hurting your team. Burmi didnt like Noels system because like i said in another thread his system didnt allow players to also freewheel and use their in stink and skills. As wheres Maurice system allows players freedom once they take care of the D and gain control of the puck.

  6. I'd really like to see what Burmi would do under Maurice. It is no secret him and Noel never got along. With Maurice's experience in the KHL, wonder if he could get through to Burmi. Me too. I actually think hed do really good under Maurice and his system.
  7. This is just my opinion but i think what the Jets will be doing as this year goes on is trying to extend Ladd, Buff and looking to sign Schief and Trouba long term. As for Burmi? Well he aint worth 3 pucks anymore because he and his agent are idiots so id just keep offering him contracts so he stays ours for the next 3 years i think it is and let him rot.
  8. Id be a very conservative GM actually. I like Chevy a lot and I like what he's done. I just get a lot of entertainment value out of fantasy trades and rumours and such. But the point being, last season, Chevy chose not to trade away assets at the deadline because the Jets had a shot at the playoffs. So if they look to be in the hunt for solidly, would he make a deal to improve the team? I think you have to ask yourself what your trying to do. And how making one trade is really going to improve your team over what you believe you have in your system. If we make the playoffs we arnt going to make it out of the first round ... well we might get to the second but beyond that i doubt we go far this year... So is making a trade for the sake of making a trade worth it? Id have to say no.
  9. Nope. Simple reason is its not going to improve you enough to really do anything. And who would you trade anyway? Picks? Prospects? A top 6 for another top 6? I dont see them doing anything like this at all. Its not the idea of what the plan is.
  10. Looking at teams like the Blues, Kings, Hawks and even Pens.... They all sucked for years and build thru the draft and these teams more less can contend every year. Sure you can try to build thru trades and FAs but i dont think you will be able to contend every year by doing that anymore. You may get one or 2 years that you make it deep into the playoffs but then you will drop off and have nothing or very little in your system to keep up.
  11. I think you might be misinterpreting their point. They were making that point to show how poorly Edmonton has drafted, and outside of their multiple top 3 picks in recent years, have almost nothing to show from the other 40 (?) draft picks they've made. Contrary to that, the Jets look to have picked up a lot of talent outside of the first round of the draft. From a managerial point of view, these are teams headed in totally opposite directions. I understand that. Their discussion wasnt about the Jets, I just thought it was interesting to take their point and apply it to the Jets who are certainly doing a far better job of drafting then the Oilers but still arent up to the cup contender average. The Oilers are a mess of epic proportions. How you can draft that high for so many years and be this bad is beyond me. If they end up with McDavid, it would be a damn travesty. But we arnt cup contenders yet.... or am i missing something? Right. My point simply being an interesting observation. I didnt know about a correlation between home grown draft picks and cup teams. I find that interesting. Its a point towards the jets' draft and develop mentality even when fans want a quicker turn around. Because of what we got from Atlanta, it might take for then five years before 11 draft picks are regulars on our team. Just another measure of our development. And then compared to the mess in Edmonton.... oh boy. Some fans may want a quick turn... but in reality that aint going to happen. And the Jets have said from the get go that it would take 5 years to turn around what they got from Atlanta to what they want to be. As far as i can tell they are pretty much right on schedule to what they said. So if fans arnt happy with that then im not sure what to tell them.
  12. I hear what your saying and can agree to a point. But in a game like that how many teams are really going to roll 4 lines? Your down 2-1 to a team thats just lost 10 games. I think your rolling 3 and maybe 2 at that point. Yes but its not a small sample size anymore. Jets' 4th line barely plays. Thorburn got a contract he didnt really deserve for his on-ice play but either Chevy or Chipman or both rewarded his off-ice qualities with a career contract. If that is how they want to spend their money so be it. But if it prevents them from upgrading the 3rd or 4th line, its a problem. True That whole Thorburn thing is just weird... I dont understand it.

  14. For me, the question always comes back to that Thorburn contract. Why so high and so long. A 4th line of Thorburn, Peluso, and Slater is not going to cut it. As to the playoffs, if we were to make it this year, even if we had a better 4th line, I don't think we are making it out of the first round. Even if we are one and done in the playoffs, we just need to start getting that playoff experience to the top half of the lineup. We basically need better 3rd line players to push the current 3rd line down. And those aren't easy to just pickup. It would be nice next year if Ehlers were to make the team pushing someone like Lowry down to the 4th. A 4th line of Slater and Lowry and one of Peluso / Thorburn or maybe Klingburg if he is ready would be more palatable. You could be right on the draft picks, but that is still a left over problem from Atlanta. I think this is going to start changing drastically over the next year or two as the Jets draft picks begin to mature. I thought Chiarot looked good out there last night, especially it being his 2nd NHL game of his career. (He was at Atlanta draft pick). Will be nice when these guys can start pushing out the Clitsome's and Pardy's, who were basically waiver wire pickups to strengthen the depth until we can fill it with our own guys. On the other hand, look how far we've come since year 1 when GST was our third line! This is the plan id have to assume. Your not trying to add 4th line players..... Your trying to add 3rd or 2nd line guys that push others down. As you said the next 2 years will be interesting when some of our younger guys mature and start making the jump up to the big team. Getting into the playoffs is the goal at this point in the development of the team to teach them what it takes once your there.

  16. Not winning the cup this year no matter what they do. I think most people understand that. Making the playoffs and running out of gas is pretty much growth and whats going to happen and whats expected.
  17. Might not be a GM god... But he can play n keep up id say. Falling off.... yup! Wouldnt count him out tho
  18. Well, seeing as they hold the Calgary organization, as a model for the Bombers org. to aspire to, I get you are getting your wish. And that's why we've put into place, perhaps our best scouting dept. ever. - planning ahead. That may be ... but i still think we need to upgrade our OC n DC tho.
  19. Planing ahead... Good grief... wish we could do that lol Looks good on Huf forsure
  20. Sounds pretty kool. Art thou in then? Yup
  21. I would certainly agree at this point. However, even if they win every game, I'd still trade Buff in the off-season. LOL That would be odd. Unless the Jets are cup contenders in the next year, there is little upside in keeping Buff. Id have to look and consider how important he is to the team at that point.... right now his role on the team is to important to trade away IMO.
