  1. Ottawa? What the hell was that…again?

Crompton giving them all kind of chances to win, but they don't want it.

The stats? In Ottawa's favour, but they don't want it.

Henry Burris? A million chances to win another game, but he doesn't want it.

Ottawa coulda, woulda, shoulda have won three games in a row, but they didn't want it?

Montreal sneaks out of town with a win.

    Saskatchewan?

Whole bunch of nothing to talk about…like 24 - nothing.

    5 games left for the Riders…Edmonton - 2 Calgary - 2 and a visit to Montreal.

Nothing to talk about there either.

    9-9

Now, does the talk about acquiring Burris heat up again in Regina?

Don't be surprised if the Riders beat the Stamps on Friday. :)
Only a giant homer wouldn't be surprised by that
Not really. Riders have a very good Oline & defence, both are just going through their annual midsession vacation. If Sunseri can start playing a bit better the Riders can still win football games. As we've seen the last few weeks, any team can beat anyone on any given day.

The thing that really blows my mind is the decision to pull Sunseri and put in Doege. Nothing like good old desperation to ruin your young qbs confidence. Now if they go back to him next game he's looking over his shoulder every time they don't connect on a play wondering when the hook is coming. The fact that Doege was no better and probably worse (at least Sunseri wasn't throwing suicide passes to receivers) just makes it all the more LOL worthy. Shame the Bombers gassed their matchups against this team because the state they're in right now is not good at all.

Well, I can take comfort in the fact Rider nation is probably bitching away on RF about Bryant Turner Jr right now, and thanks to him, they have been eliminated from winning a Grey Cup this year.

Well I take comfort in the fact that this shows just how valuable Durant is & that we have him locked up for years.
  3. I am. Doege is our man. Sunseri doesn't know how to play football.

and what exactly did Doege show that makes you think that he knows how any better? He was crap as well and almost got a receiver killed on a meaningless play. Both qbs stank out loud and they both had the same problems. Telegraphing throws, no accuracy.

My opinion is this: They determined that Sunseri was the better player which is why he was the backup, it would be incredibly stupid to try and switch course now. The only course of action until Durant is healthy is to stick with Sunseri and support him and give him all the rope he needs.

No question Sunseri gets the start on Fri.
  4. If the Riders had the teams Winnipeg had the past decade, I wonder what average attendance at Mosaic would be? Especially last year? Maybe 18,000??

This is really the thing for me.....we've had some of the league's all-time worst teams over the last decade, and the fans STILL sell the place out. The Riders would be lucky to get 20k with those teams. The difference between Bombers fans and Riders fans, is we have more "die hards", but less "casuals". The Riders have WAY MORE casual fans than any other franchise and maybe even more than some NHL franchises in Canada. They're the ones who buy the merch because it's "cool" to do so right now. They badly need another extended run of Al Ford years to thin out their ranks a little and shut them up but good...

    Rider fans used to c

ry, cry, cry when Ford was GM. That era in the 90's was brutal & I know crowds of 10-12,000 wasn't the exception but the norm.

The Riders organization back then was an embarrassment, an old boys club that held zero accountability. The team was a reflection of the attitude in the province during the dark NDP years. It's amazing how accountability, a new culture, & good business can turn things around.

Proof in the pudding, 20 years ago people would laugh if anyone ever suggested that Regina would build a $300M stadium. Times have changed.

  5. The biggest difference I find is that since the mid 2000's, it's been trendy to be a Rider fan... Whereas since the big NFL marketing push in to Canada, a lot of Winnipeggers seem to have this arrogant attitude like they are above the CFL and that the Bombers suck! The latter has been true of late, but they're still our damn team, and whether you like the Blue & Gold or not... We've got a diehard following the likes that over time, has been unmatched!

The Riders have done a great job marketing since Jim Hopson took over to the point where they have a whole new generation of fans on board. Not sure how attracting a new younger fanbase constitutes bandwagon jumping. It's just good business.

Wrong. With a good football team, how many sellouts have you had this season when the Riders weren't in town? Zip.

With a bad football team, many sellouts did the Riders have in 2011 when we went 5-13? 5 is the correct answer.

That said, no question the Bombers have thousands of diehard fans. The numbers however suggest otherwise when comparing how many of each franchise. Take for example last season, the top 12 attended games throughout the entire season all involved the Riders. This year we have soldout the past 3 home games, were at 99% capacity for game 2 & 3 had had 31K sold for our home opener which took place during a severe flood. Add to that the Riders have helped give Wpg, Vancouver, Edmonton, & soon to be Calgary their biggest home crowds this season.

It's ok for you to claim the Bombers have more diehard fans however even though the Numbers aren't in your favour. Cheers.

How many save the rider telathons have you had to have in the past?

We saw how fickle the fan base is when they booed their backup QB last game right before half time.

That's funny because I heard some Bombers fans boo their starter after the banjo bowl.

  8. The Riders look like the 2013 Bombers. The offence stinks and is causing the defence to get worn out and badly exposed. The rest of the season is going to be a long one for the Riders. Their chance at repeating as Grey Cup champs is dead, just not officially. All that remains is the constant kicking in the nads that karma will provide to Rider fans for the rest of the season as they watch their team flail around like a fish out of water.

    3-0 :)

  9. Awful game all around by the Riders, they all looked drunk. Perhaps I was wrong about Sunseri stepping up, but then again the team around him isn't helping right now. Looks like without Durant the team has lost its heart & soul. Glad we got two more with Edm at home, Chamblin won't stand for this, be interesting to see what happens

Chamblin doesnt play QB. Cupboard's bare at QB, defense pulled the chute. If you cant get up for a big divisional game just a finger wag from the coach wont fix that.

Lots of similarities between this funk & the losing streak last season. I'm not ready to write Sunseri off yet. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

  10. I think the Esks. saw a wounded duck and went for the throat. The riders without Durant are up the creek and post season play without him will be short and sweet. Looks good on those melonheads.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. This funk the Riders are in reminds me of the losing streak last year. Here's hoping Taman is right & that Durant could be back in time for playoffs.

Winnipeg has had very good teams this past decade (ie '07 & '11), no question their fan base is among the best. Riders were downright aweful in 2011 and we did see a dip in attendance but it was still strong.

  13. My buddy...a radio friend from my Dauphin days... Produced that spot in Edmonton. He didn't write it, but he put it together. He's a rabid, die hard Rider fan from just north of Saskatoon. He loves the damn thing... Super proud of it.

My biggest problem with the damn thing? It says Rider fans are great fans. Bullshit. They're among the biggest bandwagon jumpers of any sports franchise anywhere...

Merchandising sales, ticket sales, tv numbers etc say they are great fans. Hell, the fact there is still a team in Saskatchewan after how long they sucked is testament to being great fans. Think you guys have had a dry spell? The Riders up to 1966 sucked, from 1976 to 1989 and then from 1992 until around 2003. Some of the worst teams of all times.

    Good fans? I'd say.

yeah except most of the so called fans that are around only jumped on board in 2003. The ones who went through those shitty spells I have no problems with them for the most part, it's the ones that decided "oh yeah I've always been a diehard rider fan" in the mid 2000s that I have a very big disdain for. Are you really blind to the fact that the bandwagon swelled to huge numbers of these supposed die hards compared to what used to be there in the lean years? How can you not notice it?
Every franchise in every sport in every country would gain fan support if they started winning & started showing a commitment a good product on & off the field and to an improved fan experience in the stadium. If the Bombers start putting winning teams on the field consistently do you think they will start selling out IGF all the time? Of course they will, just like in Regina. For the record I think they are on the right track.
  14. I really liked this one. I thought it was creative. I did think the one calling Rider fans horrible people was in poor taste.

Really? I don't they were actually altogether serious when they said that.

Just a way to get fans (on both sides) to get pumped up. I have no problem with it.

I have zero problem with the ads but if I was an Esks fan I would be embarrassed by their lack of creativity. Isis are horrible human beings, Riders fans are giving the Esks their biggest home crowd of the season, just like they did in Winnipeg, Vancouver & soon to be Calgary. Love this time of year.

Ps, I'm rootin for Winnipeg this weekend, stomp the Ticats momentum.

  15. Not sure they need Boudreaux and don't like moving down in the draft two years in a row.

Riders have had very good late round draft picks the last couple years. Steinheurer, Vonk, Anthony, Moore, Webster, Etc.
Those aren't exactly "very good" picks.
for NI depth they are, they all made the roster of a 9-3 team coming off a championship.
You know I was going to make a mocking post about how being on the riders added to their awesomeness as player, obviously, but then you went and made a serious comment stating essentially the same thing so I got nothing. Oh you Rider fans, you are joke.
Well that is rude. My point was the Taman's late round pics made the roster of the championship team that is also having another good year. The point is that the pics must be good if they make the roster of a winning team. Same thing would apply to say a Stamps late round pic.

No your point was Riders = awesomesauce! How dare you question it! All you homers are the same. Your heads are so far up your own asses you can't see how deluded you are.

Your posts are saying more about you than anything. All I was doing was talking football & I've already explained my point. Try & have a nice evening.

  18. You know, and this isn't directed to one particular person, just a general statement for everybody, but there's something to be said for the individual that's able to be the bigger person and not get suckered into a pissing contest when they are being baited in. Just some food for thought.

As for the trade itself, while the Riders haven't ruled out Durant for the season, I've seen nothing that indicated the team is optimistic, or counting on Durant being ready for the playoffs - merely that it's possible he may be, just as it's technically possible for Ottawa to run the table and win the east, but I don't think anyone is holding their breath for either scenario. With that said, at the moment (and yes it's premature) I'd give Hamilton the edge on the deal as it seems shortsighted to do a deal like this when realistically Durant won't be back.

Agreed, many rider fans are also questioning the move. Hilee taylor has been a disappointment . BB is 25 years old and his contract is up at end of the year. If BB shows better than Taylor and resigns in the offseason its a good move for us. I disagree with those who think we gave up too much, late draft picks are a crap shoot IMO anyways. Chick and Foley are both north of 30, doesn't hurt to start looking around a bit.
Boudreaux had a very good GreyCup game last year, 7tackles, 1 sack, & a forced fumble. Chamblin likes what he sees.

Taman said on the pregame show last week that Durant gets his cast off soon and the prognosis for a return this season is good.

Flutie had the exact same injury in 1995 & came back after 7 weeks.

  20. Threads don't get closed for football discussion. They get closed when people move away from that and start throwing insults back and forth.

Have patience, the usual suspects will all be gathered soon enough...

Word around town is that Durant should be back in time for playoffs. Sunseri can do well until then if he continues to improve.

Well then, sounds like you guys don't have a care in the world. Just keep skipping thru the fields of marigolds.
Who said that? I'm just stating that Durant should be back & that we have as good a shot at a championship as any other team.

Hey, personal shots are uncalled for on this forum... just keep it clean please

    What personal shot?
