I didn't misunderstand anything. Of course nothing is certain, I was just stating what Taman said, that the plan for Durant to return is for game 17 in Cgy. For some odd reason you brought up Rod Pederson.
Listen to yesterday's sportscage interview, it begins around the 40min mark.
Yeah, Pederson reported that Taman told him that.
Don't believe everything that Pederson says...Taman said on 620 ckrm Sportscage tonight that Riders will activate Durant for Game 17 & that he will play in Game 18. Doesn't sound like a false hope to me.

Peterson didn't say it, Taman did.

Sure ok. He said it, but I really think you misunderstood what he said.

I did listen to it and stand behind my assessment. You are spinning like a dreidel at Passover Migs. Right now no one, including Taman, has used any language other than "we are hopeful", " there is a chance", and "if things progress well".
Is Taman being optimistic, yep, would anyone expect him not to be...at least publically.
Good job avoiding my other question. Do you still think it was Taman who leaked the Burris story to Madani?
-
Migs, comparing Durant's ability to play through a turf toe or a bruised rib to coming back from reconstructive elbow surgery is a little far fetched....even for a Rider apologist.
You're the one who said Durant can't play well when he isn't at his best physically. Give me an example.

Very good. Nothing in life is certain. I'm just relaying exactly what Taman stated in the interview.I did listen to it and stand behind my assessment. I said exactly what Taman said. That the plan is to activate Durant for game 17 in Calgary & for Durant to play in week 18.Listened to Sportscage and what Migs forgot to mention is that Taman was speaking hypothetically. He said there is a chance that Durant could be suited up for game 17 or 18 depending on how his rehab goes. Nothing definitive saying he will be back and a lot of hope and "there is a chance" talk. Migs spun the entire thing.
Also since you listened to the interview, do you still think it was Taman who leaked the Burris info to Arash Madani? lol

This post makes no sense. What makes you think his arm would be noodle when other QBs have returned in less time that Durant's proposed return & performed well? And remember it is Durant's legs & experience that are just as much of an assetIF Durant were able to somehow start a playoff game his arm would be a noodle. Durant is the type of QB that is only effective when he is at his best physically. The Riders might be just as well off going with Sunseri even if Durant can dress. The chances of Durant coming back and being effective this year are extremely remote. I get that Rider fans want to cling to this last shred of hope on a rapidly sinking season but it really is a false hope. Unless they have replaced his elbow with a bionic one he simply doesn't have the time to get his arm back to full strength, and Durant is not good enough to succeed at anything less than full arm strength.
And what with the assertion that Durant only plays well when he is at his best physically? How many injuries did DD play through his GC winning season last year?
-
If WPG gave Willy two weeks to see if he could throw even without surgery the idea of SSK plugging in Durant and have everything instantly back to normal is highly dubious.
Sure, they may not be lying but they are painting an incredibly rosey picture considering they have no idea what Durant can or cant do post surgery yet.
Rider fans really need to temper expectations here.
How long did it take Flutie to come back from the exact same injury?
-
Ahh so whenever Durant wins its because the other team choked. Wow that Durant is a lucky guy lol
and by that of course you mean he has a history of beating playoff chokers right? Lots of wins vs. Burris in the playoffs.
Sure they can, Durant has a history of always playing great in the playoffs. So let's say the Riders finish 3rd. Can they win in Edmonton and Calgary with a potentially rusty Durant?

So you honestly think Taman & the Riders medical staff are being dishonest about Durant's return just to please the fans? Wow you got me. lol
His reputation?
What was there to lose in telling Madani after Desjardins had told Taman to go fly a whatever?
Why would Taman leak info about the offer for a player that was supposedly rejected knowing that a large portion of the fanbase can't stand the player in question? Sorry not buying it, Taman has nothing to gain by that.Madani was Bombers Communications/PR guy during Taman run there....super tight. Text regularly...not that it means anything, but just sayin'...
You really are amazing.
My name is Migs. Where I come from, GMs are always completely up front and there's no such thing as media spin.

Yeah, suuuuuurrrre...
No coincidence. Durant got the info this morning from Dr.
Grow up.
Bush was responsible for 9/11 right?Control the message .
With Riders smashing the panic button and failing to get a credible QB they need to quell the negativity with overly optimistic Durant talk. This keeps the hounds at bay and dont have to answer annoying questions about the now ordinary defense and porous O-line.
So the Durant happy talk on the heels of the failed trade offers was a complete coincidence ?
Just like having the refs in our back pocket, it's all a big conspiracy.

,"Yet another rumor surfacing in Twitterland from the media is that the Shmoes and Riders are currently in talks to trade Nichols for one of Bagg/Getzlaf. Nothing says, "despite what we told you today Durant is out for the foreseeable future" more than the Riders trying to pry any QB they can away from anyone for star NIs or 1st round picks. Sorry Migs, this Durant will be back talk is just window dressing to try improve the Riders position in a trade.
So you believe the Twitter rumours over the GM & doctors of the Riders. Riddle me this, why would Edmonton trade the team they are tied with a quality young QB like Nichols?
-
So let me get this straight...the day after Taman's trade offer is rejected by the RBs Durant suddenly has an excellent chance of returning. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Riders are desperately trying to not give the impression that they are desperate. No one offers a 1st round pick and a roster player for a 40 year old QB rental unless their QB is out for the season. Don't really care what Chamblin, Durant, or Taman SAY right now. Actions speak louder than words and the ACTIONS say that Durant is toast for this year. I found it especially comical that the timeline for "Durant's return to throwing" is the week FOLLOWING the trade deadline.
Wrong.

There is a very good reason the media in Winnipeg absolutely loves Brendan Taman still, it's because he is very open with them, he always told them a lot. It's part of why they hated Kelly and Mack so much, both guys basically told the media to go **** themselves.Madani was Bombers Communications/PR guy during Taman run there....super tight. Text regularly...not that it means anything, but just sayin'...

If you honestly think that Taman would leak his offer that got rejected for a player a lot of fans hate then I guess there is no use arguing lol.

God if Riderfans weren't so oblivious to the way things happen in pro sports they wouldn't say such completely asinine things about their team.
Bomber fans may be a negative lot but at least they don't sound like they were born in the back of a turnip truck.
So Durant won't be back this season? What do you know that the Riders' doctors don't?
-
Turning in to a sask based fan site here it seems, Not sure i like that too much. Way too many topics about SASK on here but regardless, Seems pretty obvious Durant is done for the year, regardless of what a rider fan or 2 thinks. Pretty obvious that the deal Sask made with Ottawa or proposed deal with Ottawa for Buriss is legit, I mean, it's been reported by more than just Madani. Doesn't make sense to even propose that trade if you think Durant will be back this season, Fact is.. He won't be and the only reason Chamblin and whoever else "believes he might be" is because they have seen that Rider team give up and fold the last 2 weeks without Durant so they are just trying to give their other players a reason for optimism, Don't give up guys, Darian will be back soon. But reality is, he won't be.
Pretty obvious watching SASK the last 2 weeks that based on the other players body language and all that stuff, they are done like dinner without durant and they know it.
Maybe if the coaches showed half as much faith in their backups as they do in durant "maybe returning this year", that maybe just maybe those backups could get the job done, it's not like Durant was lighting it up this year, he was just managing the game and basically letting the running game win games for them. Sask is last in the league in passing yards per game are they not? Without a passing game you can't win in this league consistently and that's just being proven now. Honestly, even if Durant wasn't hurt, i still think the riders would be struggling right now, Teams have caught on to them, take away the run and make them beat you with the pass and they can't do it.
This funk reminds me a lot of last season (hell we got smoked by the Bombers), remember when you guys wrote the Riders off after that? Sorry to inform you that Durant will be back before the end of the regular season.

No they don't.
The team saying it doesn't mean it's what the doctors say. Teams in all sports give optimistic recovery times constantly.
That conspiracy theory makes no sense. Are you suggesting that the Riders medical staff are being dishonest so they can give Riders fans false hope? Sorry but that is tinfoil hat material as that is the last thing you want to do if Durant can't come back.
Not the point, the point here is spin, you know, what you are doing. They're putting a shiny happy face on things so the fans and team don't panic. "Don't worry Durant will be back soon and it'll all get better" any thing to take the minds off the shut out loss.
Who would you rather have as a source for Durant's health?
No bias there.
Vanstone provided his source, Durant & the team.
It's funny that you accuse Madani of being a franchises media mouthpiece and then quote Rob Vanstone of all people as your source for Durants health. There will be no trade for Burris, it's just Madani stirring the pot & being a mouthpiece for Desjardins. And like I stated for the past 2 weeks....
@robvanstone: The word from Durant and the Roughriders' medical people is that there's an excellent chance of #4 returning at some point in 2014.
