After Week 16
Bye -  Hamilton

Scott Cullen TSN
-Trevor Harris, Ottawa – It came in a losing effort, but Harris had a monster game at B.C., throwing for 485 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 40-33 loss. He leads CFL quarterbacks with a 119.5 rating in 10 games.

Note- This performance was followed up by the Sask. game where he was 12/21 for 120 yards...and he was pulled.

-Jonathan Jennings, B.C. – On the winning side, Jennings spread the ball around, completing 20 of 25 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns. He’s third in the CFL with 3,656 passing yards and third with 18 passing touchdowns.
-Mike Reilly, Edmonton – Passed for 355 yards and two touchdowns, completing 32 of 38 passes, in a 40-26 victory at Winnipeg. He leads the league with 4,708 passing yards this season.

CFL History
In 1958, Ottawa & Hamilton played a regular season #CFL game in Philadelphia. It is also the last time Philly would see a good QB. #NFL
-(The Aug 1958, Hamilton 13-7 win over Ottawa, was the only regular season #CFL game ever played on US soil featuring 2 Canadian teams)

CFL Communications
No #CFL team has ever had 2 players reach 100+ tackles in the same season; but @BCLions' @Bighill44 & @SolomonE56 are both on pace in 2016.

Bill Lankhof - Toronto Sun
A year ago, Hazelton and Gurley were both told they would not play in games following conduct detrimental to the team.
“When it becomes habitual, it’s a problem, and there was a little more of that lately,” said Milanovich, without getting into specifics.
Anytime we make a move like this there’s more than one reason. The biggest reason ... we still haven’t gotten the production,” said Milanovich.

Kirk Penton - National Post
The Red and White have the dreaded bye in the final week of the season this year, which means they are going to end up getting two weeks off before hosting the West final at McMahon Stadium on Nov. 20. Their final regular season game is on Oct. 30, which means they will go a whopping 20 days without hitting anyone in anger.

BomberBuzz.com
Gurley, who might just be the least problematic of the Big-Three, is someone the Bombers need to sign if they’re serious about giving QB Matt Nichols the weapons to make a Grey Cup run.
It’s playoff time, and Matt Nichols needs weapons if the Bombers want to knock off the Lions and Stampeders. Nichols desperately needs that big-bodied, red-zone threat in particular, and that’s Tori Gurley.

CFL
In eight games with the Argos this year, Hazelton caught 27 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns.

Hamilton is second worst in the league in giveaways with 37 – 15 of which came from fumbles while 16 of them from interceptions and six on downs. The only team with more giveaways on the season is the Toronto Argonauts with 38. The Tiger-Cats opponents have scored 109 points on those giveaways as well, the second most of any team in the CFL.

the Ticats have 71 two-and-outs on the year, that’s the second most in the league (Saskatchewan has the most with 73). Hamilton is also third last in the league in time of possession (average of 29:11 per game).

Hope these 3 Uber talented ex Argo WR's take advantage of these 2nd chances . Time to take this blessing of pro football seriously.

"Big body, yards, red zone production & touchdowns... that kind of experience is a good piece to add this time of year." - O'Shea on Gurley

Herb Zurkowsky -Gazette
6 sacks - the Als’ offensive line surrendered, increasing their Canadian Football League total to 45 through 13 games. No team has relinquished more than 37.
?‍?That is until Drew Willy and the Argos allowed 6 on Thanksgiving Monday

CFL.ca
- Last week (week15) in the CFL, teams compiled a combined 241 points, an average of 60.3 points per game. That’s the highest average since Week 2 in 2015 where there was an average of 60.8 points per game. There were 24 touchdowns scored last week, or an average of six touchdowns per game – the highest for any week this season.
Week 15 averaged 802 yards per game.
Edmonton QB Mike Reilly is currently on pace to pass for 6,053 yards this season. He needs to average 323 yards per game to reach the elusive 6,000-yard mark.
Mike Reilly and Bo Levi Mitchell each have 11 games with 300+ passing yards this season.
Justin Medlock retook the lead with 172 points, four ahead of Rene Paredes’ 168. Each of them threaten the CFL field-goal record of 59 in one season. Medlock has 45 field goals and Paredes has 46 – the record is 59, set by David Ridgway in 1990.
Shawn Lemon has made nine sacks in his last seven games to take over the league lead with 12 sacks this season.

Asked how much research the Bombers had done on Gurley before signing him, head coach Mike O’Shea was succinct:
“Enough to allow us to sign him.”

4:15 p.m.I walk past one of the O meeting rooms & see Tori Gurley focused on film, with a notepad. I think #Bombers fans will like this guy.

#Riders deploy 88th, 89th & 90th players today, surpassing #CFL record of 88 set by 2013 #Ticats, with 4 games remaining.

This from CFL stats guru Steve Daniel: the Lions lead the CFL in best average starting point for their offensive possessions, beginning at their own 40-yard line. The league average is the 36.3-yard line. Translating that over the Lions 180 possessions so far this season, that is an additional 681 yards of net field position or the equivalent of over 6 CFL field lengths.

#Redblacks lose game, see top receiver go down with an injury and start a QB controversy. Did I miss anything?

Clarence Denmark has seven touchdowns this season. Seven. He had three in 2015. Three in 2014. Started season on the couch. #Bombers

CFL.ca
Over the last two seasons (2015-16), there have been 30 different starting QBs and each has been sacked multiple times. On a per start basis, here are the QBs that have been sacked the most and least along with an analysis of TD drive results.
Of note, Trevor Harris has been a sacked a league-high 72 times for an average of 2.88 per game, Bo Levi Mitchell’s sack frequency is at the other end of the scale at just 1.26 times per game and he has led a CFL-best 83 TD drives.
Zach Collaros leads all QBs in getting his club into the end zone at 22.5% of the time (54 TDs in 240 drives he has led)
Jonathan Jennings is next at 19.9% and 2.11 sacks per game
BL Mitchell is 19.3% and 1.26 sacks per game
Matt Nichols is #9 out of 12 at 15% and 6th out of 12 with 2.35 sacks per game (include games with Edmonton)
?‍?Interesting to note, Drew Willy is  #12 in TD% and 4th highest in sacks per game at 2.77
Rakeem Cato has 3.07 sacks/game, Ricky Ray 3/game and Trevor Harris has 2.88 sacks/game

Montréal appointed Jacques Chapdelaine as interim head coach and his first game he led the Alouettes to a 38-11 win over Toronto. That marked the 59th in-season head coaching change in the CFL since 1950 and these new head coaches have now gone 28-31 (.475) in their initial games for their club.

There are three players on pace for 200-point seasons in 2016 led by leading scorer Justin Medlock with 172, Rene Paredes with 168 and Ottawa’s Chris Milo at 150. Milo is on pace for 208 points which would be a new Ottawa club record (set by Terry Baker in 1991 with 202). The last time that three players hit the 200-point mark in the same year was 1995 when four player had 200+ points. All three players have a chance to reach the all-time single-season record for field goals made of 59 set by Dave Ridgway in 1990 (FGs to Week #15: Paredes 46, Medlock 45, Milo 41).

We love to whine about #CFL officiating, but #NFL officials are horrible, too. Man, some of these calls are embarrassingly horrible.

?‍?Unfortunate for the Riders to lose yet two more receivers in one game. Armanti Edwards and Jeff Fuller. If they were closer to a playoff spot..
Observations...in the Sask-Ottawa game
Darian D - voice sounds more like a halfback for a man his size
Demski performed horribly in this game
Both Coaches used their challenges uh, not smartly
Crapinga 6-7 FGs
Henrrryyy vs Durant - good battle
Which reminds me, in the long term, is Jones going to sign Durant? Doesn't he have to?
Wished we would have picked up Jefferson..he'd have made a difference for us.
Nice TD grab by Bagg..

Being a band-aid generally, means that the player struggles to stay on the field because he gets injured often. -
?‍?The question is - is Zach Collaros a band-aid?

?‍?Jonathon Jennings threw for 422 yards and two picks.
?‍?Matt Nichols not only threw for two touchdowns by also caught a touchdown pass. So, does that trump Jennings game? Or can I use the word trump on a presidential debate weekend?

Big time players for BC - Jennings, Burnham, Arceneaux, and Rainey
Big time players for the Bombers - Nichols, Dressler, Harris and Leggett.

?‍?A big round of applause for Montreal Alouette players Sam Giguère, Kyries Hebert, Chip Cox, Nicolas Boulay, Brandon Rutley, Jacob Ruby, J.C. Beaulieu, DeQuin Evans, Ethan Davis and Cam McDaniel, who’s on the Als’ practice roster.
These players are scheduled to serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Welcome Hall Mission following Monday afternoon’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos at Molson Stadium.
That's right, after the game. They'll be sore, but it's all good in their eyes.

Drew Edwards
The Edmonton Eskimos have become the first CFL team to refuse to participate in TSN’s Live Mic gimmick.
Chris Edwards -TSN
I said criticism when warranted is fair, and what Maas pulled was ridiculous, dishonest and unacceptable. Blatant disregard for an agreement

The league has also responded.
“We are aware that Eskimos’ head coach Jason Maas and quarterback Mike Reilly did not wear live microphones,” said CFL director of communications Paulo Senra in a statement. “Any decision on discipline will be made later this week when we review all potential football related discipline.”

Kirk Penton
Nothing like giving the finger to the broadcaster that is pumping tens of millions dollars into the league coffers. #Eskimos

Randy Turner
Breaking: The Eskimos decision to decline using hot mics today has been endorsed by Donald Trump.

Terry Jones
Eskimos also declined to join other teams in opening dressing room to media at practice one day a week. Real good partners Ed Hervey & Co.
-Eskimos lost three, won three, lost three and won three this year. Dare I mention they have three to play?

Mike Beamish
We hardly knew ye: #BCLions release RB Marshaun Coprich and K Bobby Zalud. Lasted one week on expanded PR.

Bombers in playoffs if Argos lose. I always said if anybody could get #Bombers in playoffs, it's Drew Willy.

?‍?Messam had 99 first-half rushing yards, four fewer than the net offence produced by the Argos.

?‍?The Bombers are 5-5 in their last 10 visits to BC Place ...

Rob Vanstone
After Fulton trade, only 7 players on 2013 Grey Cup roster are still with the team: Bagg, Durant, LaBatte, Best, Clark, Newman, Steinhauer.
Revision of last night's tweet: 8 of the 2013 Riders are still with the team: Moore, Durant, Bagg, LaBatte, Best, Steinhauer, Newman, Clark.

Farhan Lallji
Jeffery Orridge acknowledges the seriousness of the #Eskimos thumbing their nose at what was agreed to by #CFL BOG. Expect penalties soon

?‍?BCLions clinch playoff spot for 20th season in a row, the longest active streak in CFL.

?‍?So here we have 2 news stories - Wade Miller and the Bombers helping out a local minor football team with financial aid, then you hear Jason Maas and the Eskimos snub the CFL, AND the other CFL teams by reneging on an agreement with TSN.
I hope the second story ends with a substantial slap to the Eskimo org.

?‍?Jace Daniels is on the ticats practice roster as of the weekend

If the playoffs started today (Oct. 11) …

Western Semi-Final: Winnipeg at BC
Western Final: TBD at Calgary

Eastern Semi-Final: Edmonton at Hamilton
Eastern Final: TBD at Ottawa

Santino Filoso 3downnation
-A week after putting up a CFL season high of 485 yards, Trevor Harris only managed to complete 12/21 (57%) of his passes for 120 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT
-For 11th time this season, the Redblacks finished the game with more offence than their opponent, which means that OC Jamie Elizondo is doing something right.
-A week after conceding a single sack on 45 drop backs, against Saskatchewan, the Redblacks’ offensive line was pushed around and allowed a sack or pressure roughly every 9 pass attempts.
-Missed tackles were a running theme throughout the night as Saskatchewan piled up 87 YAC (yards after catch).

John Hodge 3downnation
-a victory over Ottawa on October 29 would give Winnipeg its first-ever single-season winning record at Investors Group Field.
-Good things tend to happen when Richie Hall dials up blitzes — here’s hoping we see more pressure on opposing pivots as the season progresses.
-Speaking of turnovers, the Bombers won that battle over B.C. by a 3-0 margin on Saturday. Winnipeg is now plus-27 on the season with 21 giveaways and a jaw-dropping 48 takeaways.
-After a sack-free performance against B.C., the Bombers are now tied with Edmonton for second league-wide in sacks allowed with just 28.
- Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but perhaps there were two reasons why Winnipeg running back Andrew Harris was called down on a game-deciding review by the Command Centre in Saturday's game against B.C.:  1) The ground can't cause a fumble and it appeared as though the ball came out as Harris hit the ground (it did to me at least) and, 2) Was his forward progress stopped?  When was the whistle blown?

The CFL Command Centre was getting roasted on Twitter by media, fans and CFL players alike Saturday afternoon but I wondered how much of the noise was warranted versus how many jumped on the negativity train because it was the thing to do at the moment?
The League issued a statement to 3DownNation.com Saturday night and it read similar to what I wrote above.
I'm not sure the criticism of them in the Andrew Harris case was warranted.

?‍?Those Argos are just...bad.
Willy, the sack magnet, was downed 6 more times. 1st, he plays behind our sievy O-Line, now he plays behind Toronto's. Combine that with his...propensity to turtle, one of these times, when he gets sacked, it'll be from a team.

Blue Bombers History
2011 JOGO @Tjedwards82. A Bomber for 7 seasons, he surpassed 1,000 rec yards 5 times and was a CFL All Star in 2007 & 2010. Clutch catches!

Today is trade deadline day, but I wouldn't expect any non-surprise move from the Bombers.

Week 17 -
Bye - Edmonton
