  1. Well they don't do a lot of things ;)

Didn't Burke call out Pierce as needed to improve after the (very short appearance) preseason game?

THE OLD BUCK: Burke wasn’t thrilled with the way starter Buck Pierce took off with the ball, and took a hit, on the first play.

“I wish he would have slid,” the coach said. “You guys know that’s Buck. He’s a competitor. And for years that was a big part of his game. But he could have ducked it upfield earlier and then slid, instead of taking it out on the perimeter so far.”

Pierce took another hit on a blitz that a receiver didn’t recognize.

“Everybody’s got to see the same thing,” Burke said. “If there’s a hot receiver, he’s got to see the blitz and run his hot route and the quarterback’s got to see it, and if one of them doesn’t then it’s a bad play.”

And knew he was struggling after the opener:

"He was rushing his reads more than anything else," Burke said right after the game. "If he'd have let the play develop we had guys wide open. The thing with Buck is, the first game he plays... he's going to be so gunned up, his adrenaline's going so hard he just speeds up his reads. He's not patient enough."

I don't know, I just don't get the feeling that so many here do that Burke is the one pulling for Buck.

  2. Not sure how all the blame is going on Burke, a HC who is putting all his offensive trust in Crowton.... does he not consult with Crowton about whether to pull Buck or not.

I'm guessing Buck is on a very short leash at the moment.  He got a "pass" when we won in week 2, and the game was never out of hand against the Ticats which makes it tough to pull him (imo) regardless of how awful he is playing.

  3. no point bashing Reilly just because the guy didn't want to play here.  I don't understand it myself.  He's got some tools to be a good QB in this league, but why he'd want to go to the QB graveyard that is Edmonton with that decrepit o-line right now I have no idea. There will be "consequences".

How can you not understand it?  Nichols was recovering from a serious injury, and Reilly ended up being the starter by Week 1.  Here we refuse to pull a struggling QB until he's knocks himself out of the game.  Pretty sure he chose right.

  4. Burke has called out Buck's poor play before - I don't think he's the one who NEEDS him to play.

That said... Is he waiting for Crowton to tell him to pull Buck?  Burke is not the most offensively minded HC.  And for those saying Bob's an idiot - try listening to other team's radio broadcasts.  It can be tortuous.

  5. Never listen to the riders radio station. Being the biggest homer going is their entire MO. Plus the guys just flat out aren't that good. Bob Irving is never allowed to retire, us bomber fans are so lucky to have that guy doing games for us. You don't realize it until you actually listen to the crap other teams have to put up with.

I couldn't find the Toronto one... but I've learned my lesson.  Everytime they scored, "canada's team" scored.  Who would have known?!

  6. Sorry, I didn't read through the 4 pages of "well it's a good idea because .... but ...."

I am so tired of this discussion.  Would not happen.

    - Mack has repeatedly said he is not interested.  His track record has proven he is trying to find a star QB himself (should be end of discussion here imo).

    - There's pretty much no trade that this would work out in.

    - Tate has barely played a whole season and is proving to be injury prone with his risky style of play.  AFter Glenn, it's Bo Levi Mitchell and Sinopoli.  Neither guys with CFL or barely any pro experience.

    /end discussion

  7. Lots of positives from last nights game.

Like others, Buck's performance frustrated the hell out of me. IMO, there was nothing that Buck did, that I felt Goltz couldn't do better.

This is my main concern. None of our qbs have shown to be anywhere close to Buck, and we all know how we feel about his play. So I've resigned to waiting it out with pierce and hoping he turns it on permanently sometime soon.
  8. Personally, I just like it when other people are wrong... especially when they've been complete ass-clowns throughout the whole process. Etienne has been a contentious issue for a couple years, so you'll have to forgive those few of us who have been preaching patience in the face of 'Bust this' and 'Harry Potter that'.

I like when people are wrong just as much as the next person, just... so tiring.

I missed this Harry Potter thing though!

  9. Good luck with that.  Even if Jade becomes a Hall of Fame receiver, the same whiners will always find a reason to whine about something.  It's called chronic inability to ever see a bigger picture.

Seriously doubt that.  I see what you're saying, but I'm getting pretty tired of this "Oh! Remember when I said he didn't suck and now he's awesome!  You suck!" or, "Oh! Remember when I said that guy was going to be terrible and now he is! You suck!".  Everyone just HAS to be right and let everyone else know about it.
