That's just it right there, it was a popularity contest. Fans were asked to pick their favorite players. In his weekly column, Doug Brown stated that a case could certainly be made for more deserving players if you were going by stats, records, championships, etc. But none of that was the criteria for voting. Of course they could've gone with the four favorite anything; teams, eras, logos, mascots (Buzz, Boomer, Capt. Blue and that weird looking Girl-Boomer). If anyone deserved a gate, it was poor Green Drop guy...So you have no problem that it became a popularity contest and that perhaps more deserving players may not have been selected?

2.3% is how much tickets prices will go up each year IIRC, the Jets do the same, some hogwash about keeping up with inflation.
Sorry, but is that 2.3% annual hike you're talking about on just the suites/loges or all seats at IGF? I know Jim Bell stated parking prices wouldn't go up for a few years (we'll see) but I didn't hear anything about the season tickets. As annoying as it is, it's not that surprising. Price of my seats at Canad Inns went up a little every year.

Thanks for the link, I think I came across this while trying to hunt down some facts. Surprisingly little info on Bombers history online. From what I could gather, the Manitoba Rugby Football Union (the main football league in Manitoba that predated the CFL) granted a franchise to the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club on May 14, 1930, but it wasn't until almost a month later (June 10th) that the team's board of directors was formed and began operating under the name Winnipeg Football Club and playing as the Winnipegs or 'Pegs (team would be called Winnipeg Blue Bombers 5 years later). Is this the date the team was actually formed? This seems to be what the Bombers claim as it's shown on both their official website and Facebook page. Guess it"s a case of when was the team born vs. when was it conceived. Anyway, pretty interesting history but somewhat vague.

meh. possession of pot is a fine here.. and in most states I believe.. hef grew up in a culture that glorified it.. not to mention its pretty popular here as well..
its legal in a bunch of states already and wil probably be here soon as well.. if he was cut/traded cuz of this, I would be disappointed..
It's legal in two states and South Carolina isn't one of them, not even for medicinal use. If it were this side of the border, cops would've seized it on the spot and sent him on his way; not even worth the paper work for them. But American authorities are pretty sadistic when it comes to drugs, even pot. Might as well have been 6 kilos of cocaine because that's how some states still treat it. Hopefully this won't be the case and it gets settled quickly. As for how Mack and Burke deal with it, that's a whole other story...(Hef might be safer in jail!)

Don't know why I keep tabs on stuff like this but today happens to be the Bombers' 83rd birthday. Winnipeg Football Club was formed on June 10, 1930.

Just regarding the change to blue and gold ...
It wouldn't be any different than what you see now except the blue bars would be more "Bomber blue" and the grey bars would be gold. The white text boxe, etc would still remain the same.

I like the current colours just because it's easier to read & write postings on a white background. But I'd still like to see a little blue and gold somewhere on the page. Maybe keep the blue and white and replace the grey with gold?

Crowton's offense was trending upward towards the end of the season.. Now, having a full off-season and camp/preseason to bring out what he wants solely with the players he has.. I cannot imagine it will regress much if at all and will continue to improve..
looking forward to see what he brings to the table with his new look offense.
Agree. Wasn't overly impressed with him last season, but yes, things were getting better (too little, too late unfortunately) so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with now that he's in complete control of the offense and had time to work with them. And of course, keeping Buck safe is key.

Tough decision, too many to choose from. Definitely felt Walby deserved to be included. Maybe instead of Brown or Ploen, as he's already got the road next to the stadium named after him.

Canad Inns had the same problem, always saw the first row of the lower level with big pools of water at training camp. Seems like more water and in more areas in IG Field. Maybe they can do whatever they used to do before to drain it at the old stadium? Also interesting to note; while making my way up the east side ramp to get to the suites to pick up my tickets, I noticed there were many puddles inside the ramp area as well. Where's all the water coming from I wonder? Hopefully the roof's not leaking already!

Actually really like the blue/grey colour scheme and general layout. Bright and easy to read. Some have mentioned adding blue and gold to the site which would be nice. An official MBB logo would be cool and I believe was also mentioned, although probably couldn't use anything Bomber related ("W") because of copyright issues and such. As for the post count...I could take it or leave it. Doesn't add or take away anything from the profiles. As long as Newbies and Advanced Members are both treated with equal respect, I say it's fine.

Just signed up! Site looks great, congrats you guys. Love the name too. Always good to have another place to talk Bombers. Can't wait to start posting, especially with the start of the new season.

I remember running late to a few home games last season and while stuck in Portage Avenue rush hour traffic on the way to the stadium, listening to Bob Irving in the car was the next best thing to being there. Glad it's finally game day, should be awesome at the new place.
