  1. Start planning for Laine in 2 years. I don't think he will get that kind of McDavid money, but if the Jets want to sign him up for 8, it isn't going to be cheap.
  2. With a tie and some upsets this week (as compared to the majority pick), many didn't have a very good Week 1. Congrats to Sard for getting 3 picks. Picks need to be in this week by Thursday @ 8PM.
  3. Before we go another dozen pages on rehashing the same argument.... Group 1 Group 2 No one is going to change the others mind. It is fine for each group to either like what the Jets did in expansion or not like it. What's done is done ... can we move on now?
  4. I heard Chevy's comments, and while I think they had a number of players that they would have looked at around 13 and they had Vesalainen rated higher than they took him, I don't really believe he was "the guy" they wanted at 13 prior to trading the pick. I have no issues with them moving down, but I think we would have gotten a much different player at 13, my guess is a D-Man. It is turning out that defensemen are THE commodity to have in the NHL. Can't have enough of them for your team and if you have too many of them, you can get great trade value to supplement your forwards if you need to. However the value of Vesalainen was much higher then the defensemen left at 24.
  5. Jets pick Dylan Samberg. Big LHD. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=201527
  6. Only one person ever picked a tie last season (incorrectly) and they are so rare, wasn't going to bother this year with ties. If there is a tie, no one gets a point. No. No strikes in the Pick 'Ems, so that wouldn't work.
  7. Yikes. He is going to be 39 at the end of this deal.
  8. Interesting read about the CFL in Canada. Even more interesting is that SportsNet published it. http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/cfl-integral-canadas-sporting-identity/
  9. 10 game home stand right after the all star break and pretty much the whole month of February.
  10. Apparently it is Ryan Strome
  11. Locking this thread to move the discussion here
  12. I don't think Toby waives without the Jets telling him that they would make a deal for him not to be picked. This deal is really to keep Lowry / Perreault / Armia. I suspect they would have been fine with losing Dano, but with moving down 11 spots, they got Vegas to take no players from them. Chevy might have underestimated Vegas' interest in Enstrom.
  13. Thorbs is a UFA. He was going somewhere else if anyone would sign him next year anyway. No guarantee Vegas even signs him.
  14. That sucks. We lose Thorbs! What? Can't wait to see what the larger trade is.
  15. So we only get part of the picture tonight.
  16. A reminder to those who signed up to set your roster for the upcoming week. For those who would like to join, follow this link: https://fantasy-api.cfl.ca/en/league_invitation?league_id=339&code=6483bdb1-2a7c-48a4-bd85-bc2049bad1e0
  17. There isn't a straight answer on this. They had an ex GM or agent or whatever on TSN 1290 to answer this question last night. When a player waives, he has the option of waiving all together (removing it from the contract), or waiving it only for the one transaction. It isn't clear which way Toby went. So, if Toby only waived to go to Vegas, and it sticks with the contract, this may be a reason they don't pick him as he would then have to waive again if they wanted to trade him at the deadline.

  19. He will be 41 at the start of next season. How many more contracts are they supposed to give him?
