Nice change of topic. Some say offence is the best form of defence. Matthews was $200,000 + all day long. Bomber management have a hard time with planning for the future.

Have no proof and it's done and gone so it doesn't matter, but have a hard time believing Matthews would have signed for three years at $107,000. Maybe a one year deal to try and leverage position for a better contract down the road. Have to think his agent would have had knowledge of some of the other signings like Ellingson, Walker, SJ Green and wouldn't have committed to a long term deal for less than a comparable package. My take is Bomber spin on trying to lessen the negative publicity. Adams, Lawler, Bailey and the rest were all on the roster before Matthews was brought in so nothing changed there.

Maybe. Bombers seem less inclined to add NFL cuts than other clubs the past few years.

That seems like something that wouldn't have taken too much digging to discover before signing him. Best to have nipped it in the bud though if that was the case.

If he wasn't making big dollars and without a signing bonus it probably only saves $50,000 at the most. Suppose it all adds up though.

First time poster. Go easy. Disappointed with how it worked out with Matthews to be honest and curious about the due diligence related to signing a player to a three year deal and a hefty signing bonus. Seems there should be some accountability for what appears to have been a huge error. It's only money and the Bombers have plenty so maybe no big deal. Would think Ted G. or Danny Mac would have been the guys involved although Kyle Walters must have signed off on it. Hopefully they did more than just watch last years Grey Cup before backing up the truck full of money. Derel Walker wouldn't have done any better with the offence the Bombers run.
