  2. What these wags in the media don't know or conveniently forget with their indignation of tweets is that football participation is down. There aren't the same number of kids playing the sport as there was 10 years ago. That will affect junior as well as U Sport programs as time goes by. I would expect some smaller & less wealthy teams will eventually fold or drop football completely. If Halifax does come onboard with a tenth team it will get very difficult to find seven new starters. I don't like the number reduced either but it's a fact of life. Just this past season, 5 high schools in Calgary dropped their junior varsity programs (grade 10) because they couldn't field enough players to safely play. With an average of 40 players per team, that's 200 kids in Calgary alone that aren't playing high school football. In bantam & pee we football, there was one team eliminated in each division. On top of that, when my son played community football & I coached 15 years ago, each of the 8 pee wee & 12 bantam teams averaged about 50 players each. Today, that number is down to 30 or 35. The drop has been significant. That's just Calgary. What's it like in other cities across Canada?
  3. Actually, other than the panel, the coverage by TSN is dreadful. For reasons we all know starting with the talent in the broadcast booth.
  4. Well, when their own tv broadcaster doesn't care that is a problem. They never shows the CFL Awards or the CFL Combine. Only the first round of the CFL Draft is on the main network. The CFL brings in huge advertising revenue for TSN & the network could care less.
  5. Yeah, I'm with you on slowing things down a bit. Every episode has a lot going on & it's easy to miss a part of the plot for that episode & get behind. I still didn't learn much about Airiam before & during last night's episode.
  6. Another very good OL was Right Guard Larry Slagle. Here he is leading halfback Mack Herron on a sweep. However, I don't think he was an All Star which is a surprise.
  7. When each team had 2 territorial exemptions back in the 70's & 80's I don't recall there ever being any disputes between the 2 teams. They obviously worked it out.
  8. Thank you for adding Brown. He probably won't win but he was a very, very good player when Dieter Brock was our qb in the early 80's. Frank was an awesome player. http://www.cfhof.ca/members/bill-frank/
  9. If the CFL is going to do this then I hope the players have some room to negotiate. I remember Milson Jones & Stan Mikawos were territorial exemptions. I think Paul Robson, Gary Rosolowich & Rick Koswin were as well.
  10. They'd have no bargaining power. They are basically captives of the team that selects them. "Don't like our contract offer? Stay home kid. If you change your mind, call us. "
  11. Hal Blaine from The Wrecking Crew may have been the best drummer who ever lived. You may not know who Hal Blaine was but chances are you know his music without knowing why. He was part of the greatest collection of studio musicians who played on thousands of records with many different recording artists & bands. Blaine who was 90 when he passed away 2 days ago claims he sat in on 35,000 recording sessions & played on over 6,000 albums & 45's. Most of his studio work was uncredited. Record companies back then didn't want the general public to know that bands like the Beach Boys & The Byrds didn't play on their albums. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/q/blog/the-greatest-drummer-ever-from-elvis-to-the-beach-boys-17-of-hal-blaine-s-most-unforgettable-hits-1.5053516
  12. But the player(s) will get ripped off financially because no other team can draft him or them so their earning power will be negatively affected. Why do we need territorial picks anyway? It won't cause any great rush for kids to play.
  13. Bill Frank. The man was a monster at LT back in The Day. Frank & Walby may have been the 2 most dominant tackles to play for the Bombers. Walby at RT & Frank at LT. Please add Bill Frank at Tackle. Buddy Brown also deserves to be on that list at Guard. Bill Frank towering over DE Wayne Smith, His Rough Rider opponent.
  14. And the Canadian media who are (IMO) just a little too happily zealous when reporting about former CFL players from the 70's who have no idea how to use their smart phones or unable to perform simple tasks anymore. Parents read that & don't let their kids play football.
  15. Like Atlantic Canada that just can't compete anymore.
  16. Again, it's a numbers thing. If less kids play the sport in HS because Mom is terrified her child will scramble his brains, it won't matter about training better NI's, unfortunately. The talent pool is reduced.
  17. This is absolutely shameful. Progressives used to say don't vote for Harper as he has an "agenda". What agenda does Trudeau & the Fiberals have to cover this up?
  18. Football participation is down in community & high schools that feed CIS programs across the country. How are teams supposed to start 7 Canadians when less players play collegiately. that is going to have a negative impact in the years to come. Here in Calgary a number of high schools dropped their grade 10 JV teams last year & didn't finish the season. They just forfeited their games because they couldn't field enough players to safely play. How can you say it's lazy when the numbers are dropping?
  19. I always thought Harlem Heat was a great tag team.
  20. Well, they talk nice so far.
  21. I'm hoping after the election in October he'll be as extinct t as the last one.
  22. Wait'll the RedBlacks fans get a look at the craptastic qbs they have.
  23. It's Trudeau. There is nothing savvy about that snake.
  24. LOL. Johnny Rivers sings about a snake. Trudeau is The Snake.
