  1. The biggest problem is the failure to acknowledge the wrong number was posted online. Then they were in the press about the prize not being claimed nearly every day after, again without acknowledgement of their error. Comes across as really shady and untrustworthy, especially for a community owned team. Add in the fact there was a previous jackpot unclaimed and it really looks bad.

  2.

The Watchmen would be cool, won't happen tho but that would be cool. Tragically Hip is another one that would be cool as hell. Won't happen tho. It will be some band that most of never heard of or Hedley, who aren't awful but... aren't exactly what most people would want.

if the cfl is trying to attract young, probably non football fans strictly thru a half time show, hedley would absolutely be a band they want. Current, young, hit making radio friendly canadian pop act. But since they just played imma say they get the weekend

His is actually playing the MTS Centre on the Friday of Grey Cup weekend.

The Weeknd would be cool but he's in Calgary on the 29th.

  3. I could swear that NHL salaries are published/made public.........

There was a time in the late 80's when there was full salary disclosure in the NHL. The Hockey News would publish the full list of each player's salary by team.

  4.

    Absolutely huge signing.

I originally thought the Bombers were going to go after him earlier this offseason. You can learn a lot from who follows who on Twitter. But then all those reports that BC and Toronto were strong after him came out and I figured we were out of luck. This is huge for us.

    Question for you

Where do you think he is more suited to ? NT, 3-techinque DT or on the DE ?

    100% as an end.

  5. Tom Higgins announced that the team has hired Anthony Calvillo as an offensive coach.

Ryan Dinwiddie is staying, but will not be the offensive coordinator - not a surprise, he wasn't calling the plays towards the end of the year.

Jeff Garcia won't return, and neither will RB coach Mark Speckman.

Turk Schonert stays, as does all the defensive coaches.

So, to sum: Alouettes will need an OC, QB Coach (Calvillo?), and RB Coach.

The release on the Als website makes no mention of Shonert returning. I would imagine if he were back he'd be OC, no?

  6. Well they got their butts handed to them by Ohio State (and their 3rd string QB) in the conference championship and his Heisman finalist RB has said he's declaring for the NFL draft.  Maybe he thinks the Wisconsin program is going to be in bad shape for some time to come, and is pulling the parachute.  ie, being a quitter.

I don't think that's it though.  Maybe Alverez is just an awful guy to work for.

I think location is likely the biggest factor. He's from Utah, and most of his coaching experience is out west.

  7. As much as Riley is a legend here, it says a lot about how far Nebraska has slipped that he ends up being their next coach.  Oregon State haven't posted double digit wins since 2006 and have only been bowl eligible 2 out of the last 5 seasons.  Extremely odd hire IMO.

They also have finished in the Top 25 in 4 of the last 9 seasons despite never having a Top 40 recruiting class in that time. He has for sure over achieved with the Oregon State program. Also turned down USC on two different occasions so Nebraska isn't the only school to value Riley.

  8.

I cannot tell a lie, mikes excitement tends to make me get a bit giddy when he discusses connections to Oregon. It's like religion to him lol

I've been waiting for them to bring in an Oregon guy forever ... I'd be beyond excited. Exciting players in that program.

I guess for now, I'll settle for a relative.

5 years ago we were an Oregon State alumni team.  That should be good enough.

Oregon State is Oregon's biggest rival. Like us and the Riders. I'm assuming Mike would therefore not be a big Oregon State fan in spite of the Riley connection...

  9.

The other day, looking at Packers and some other team website, I noticed that NFL linebackers are huge, 250 pounds and up.

Don't know if that's changing or not in the NFL.

Don't know if Henoc fits their idea of a linebacker. a lot of American NFL coaches don't like to be doing anything new.

good luck to him, hope he makes it.

I believe I saw on the Colts website that he beefed up to around 245 lbs...

Yeah I think the official weight I saw was 243. Big enough to play ILB in any NFL scheme.

  10.

Yeah is there a reason that blackouts were lifted?

Yes.  The industry of sports figured out how to monetize television broadcasts, led by the NFL.  It's worth more to have the skyrocketing rights fees and eyeballs for advertising than the couple thousand people (which could be less or more depending on the city) who might choose to go to a game if they can't watch it on TV.

IMO, several teams are missing an opportunity to get more butts in seats.  Bombers are a prime example.  Those corner endzone seats that never sell should go for $10-$15.  Get people in the building, get them buying concessions and merchandise, maybe even provide a good enough experience that someone comes back in a more expensive seat.  Better to sell that seat for $10 than have it sit empty for 9 games.

The NFL still has local blackouts. Most teams sell out and it isn't an issue, but teams like Jacksonville and Tennessee are often blacked out locally.

  11.

if he's an MLB, maybe slide Wild back to WIL (starter, Dunn as backup) then... and Kromah/Kuale at MLB?

I personally would love that, but Etchevary seems to hate WILL LBers playing WLB

I believe he played as an OLB in Etch D before. So possibly for Dollar or Dime position?

How long will Leggett be out?

Didn't play for Etcheverry before, he was in Sask for Chamblin's first year with Hall as DC.  Thinking he's a MLB.

Not what the Riders' 2012 Depth Chart said.

Wild wasn't a MLB on our 2013 depth chart either.  Different schemes, different seasons.

All of our true LB's are listed as MLB's, hence the 6 or 7 on the depth chart. The Dime/Dollar positions are DB's. As ide from short yardage, we won't ever see two true linebackers on the field together.

  12. Poor Steve Morley. It's not his fault that management hasn't been able to find someone better. I thought his best year was in 2009 as our right tackle.

I agree this was his best season. He actually started at LT, and January started at RT. To start the season, RT was actually the blind-side as Lefors was our starter at QB.
