Comparing Winnipeg's attendance to Hamilton (guelph) is irrelevant

    Comparing attendance is relevant.

Not for this year IMO.  Not a heck of a lot of people (I assume) were going to travel from Hamilton to Guelph 9 times out of the year, and I doubt Guelph fans would shell out $$$ for a team that is only there temporarily.

  2. Apparently Irving said on the broadcast (I didn't hear this myself) that he thinks Miller and Walters will remain in their current roles next season.

Wade apparently really likes Walters and said as much saying "Walters isn't going anywhere."

Remember when Mike Kelly was basically given the HC job by Lyle? And other candidates were commenting that they don't know why they even bothered doing interviews because it seemed like the job had been filled already?

    Will this organization EVER learn?

I think what he meant is Walters wont be leaving the organization.  When the promotion was announced, Miller did say that Walters is to valuable of an asset to let him go to another team or something to that effect

I know it's no longer relevant and I may have missed something along the way, are we expected that the conversation went this way

Ticats: Hi, we want  Mr Williams to be a part of our organization for 2 years plus an option

    Agent: ok

I mean at some point were there not any negotiations?

If that were how it went then the Ticats would be in the wrong because the CBA says they have to offer a 1+1 contract as an option, not just a 2+1.

I get that, and agree, I'm just trying to figure out that if Williams goal was to get to the NFL ASAP, wouldn't  a 1 year + option be explored?

Well, like I said... The Winnipeg Winnipegs won the 1935 Grey Cup & that is what is listed on the CFL HOF website under past Grey Cup champions. Not the Blue Bombers. According to the CFL & the HOF the team has won 9. Don't tell me, tell them. You can tell me anything you want & it won't change what is on their website.

The Hall of Fame counts the wins by nicknames, not organization. And if you want to get really picky, there is no CFL HOF. It's the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.  ;)

Jacquie, the Winnipegs are not the Bombers. They are the Winnipegs. They are listed as the GC winners in 1935. You can say whatever the hell you want. Like I said, call the CANADIAN FOOTBALL Hall of Fame & take it up with  them. Quit correcting me. And sorry about the name of the HOF. I screwed up. So sorry. My bad. I should have known better. Jeez, whatever.

Same organization, different name.  Not sure why you insist on arguing this.

Other than our secondary getting a lot of interceptions, was our defense that good under Nelson. And I don't think Nelson was the one who made Willis look good.

Until a new GM is hired and a decision is made on the head coach I can't even begin to speculate on who the DC should be next season.

From my very foggy memory as I don't want to remember that ugly season.

I seem to remember our defense keeping us in close on many games but being on the field for far to long and the points piling up a lot in the 4th quarter when they were tired.  Mostly because of the offense being absolutely putrid and lots of 2 and outs... a trend that has not gone away since then.

Looking at the old stats... wow our offense really was putrid with Kelly.    We had a 47% completion for our passing game!   Last in the league for time of possession and a whole bunch of stats for the offence.   The defense lead the league in int's and were near the top on lots of the good stats such as  average yard per pass/run against them.    The accumulative stats though they were at the bottom for most.   Not really their fault considering they were on the field for more then 200 plays then the 2nd last team in the league!!!

The secondary were ball hawks, but the time of possession argument gets thrown out when you look at a lot of games and realize they weren't stopping anybody in the first half either.

  7. The constant bad hirings are the reason we're here not the impatience IMO. Constant losing & big talk & no action fuel the impatience. And the fact if we can bring in an inexperienced coach or manager to save a buck, (which we'll probably do again) we'll do that as well. It all comes into play. That is how this team rolls.

Doug Berry had a bad year the year after the Grey cup and yet finished 8-10.  Deserved another year to right the ship.  Club gave in to pressure to have him fired which led to the Mike Kelly Era.
