  1. For the current junior players they do allow a limited number (I believe 2 or maybe even 3) to practice with the CFL club during the season (the Stampeders might be the club that uses this rule the most). They are there as a territorial protected player and not as a full member of the CFL team.

If he was on the PR with a standard contract and not as part of the CJFL territorial rights then for him to be a free agent at the regional combine it means he was released by the Bombers.

  2. I have contacted their Board of Directors suggesting that their policy that suspensions can't be appealed be looked at this off season. Especially in this day and age when every movement is video taped either by the team, the parents or the grandparents if there is a clear visual recording of the incident it should be open to review.

Again I'm not blaming the ref for throwing the flag but they should've huddled as an officiating team and discussed whether the block was worthy of a flag, ejection or none of the above.

  3. It's a clean open field block on a punt return.

The problem is that refs have that twitchy trigger finger and anything that looks like it was vicious must be an infraction.

Put it this way iso if this is considered "Objectionable Conduct - Rough Play" then every time your guard pulled or your receiver blocked their DB out it'd be an ejection. Let's just play two hand touch instead.

  4. In a minor football mess a 12 year old was ejected from a game and suspended for the next (The League Championship game no less) for a block on a punt return. This targeting crap has hit the fan and this was far from a cheap shot. I can understand why the game ejection was called by a minor football ref but to uphold the suspension is ridiculous.

This quote makes it seem like a power trip. Let's raise a stink on this and get them to allow this 12 year old to play.

COMFL president Dan Labanowich said parents, Stampeders officials and referees who were asked to review the call are missing the point.

“It’s not an appealable offence,” he said. “It’s the referee’s call, plain and simple. A rule is a rule is a rule. He was penalized, he was ejected, and the paperwork was done properly at the end of the game.”

  5. 2010 the first overall pick signed a record base contract for $200,000/3 years + incentives (pretty standard $80,000 per year deal with the basic incentives and $90,000 with the rest of the incentives)

If Henoc Muamba signed a deal for $150,000/3 years then his agent wasn't paying attention to the years before.

  6. Career numbers:

Nate Coehoorn - 85 catches for 1,152 yards and 1 TD + 5 tackles, 7 special teams tackles

Kito Poblah - 53 catches for 534 yards and 1 TD + 1 special teams tackle

    Jade Etienne - 20 catches for 276 yards and 2 TDs + 2 tackles

Anthony Parker - 21 catches for 260 yards and 1 TD, 5 carries for 36 yards + 2 tackles, 8 special teams tackles and an INT; 2 punt returns + 4 KO returns

My thoughts on Etienne from the 2011 Draft Guide:

Caught a lot of attention in the 2010 CIS season with a breakout year and made some big plays. Jade moved into the next tier of receivers with a lot of potential. Will have to convince decision makers that it wasn’t just a one time success story.

Career totals - 30 rec. for 743 yds with 6 TD

  7. Kerwin Bell? What has he done to justify a GM role?/

Isn't Mike Reiley basically in a coach for life situation at OSU?

Kerwin Bell has a huge network of individuals that would benefit a GM greatly. He also understands the skill set for CFL QBs and can build around that.

As for Mike, any coach in the Pac-12 is in a win or find a new job situation. Oregon State has been a great place for him but that won't last a lifetime. He went 3-9 in 2011 and the critics were calling for his job. Anytime someone earns $1.7 million they need results or it ends badly.

  8. You mean former head coach Mike Riley? He's in deep at Oregon State. I think he'll be there for a long time yet.

Yes that's the one. Can you tell I've been discussing QBs this morning?

Mike was a bad start to last season from losing his job. His security hinges on wins-losses and he may be ready to step upstairs into a role with a little development room.

  9. Hawkins will only have success in non-AQ NCAA football where intimidation still works as a motivator. Not a pro coach, not even a great college coach and a ridiculous hire.

4 straight WAC championships, 2 times WAC Coach of the Year, 5 Bowl games. Boise State had never finished in the Top 25 before Hawkins got there. He's not a bad college coach at all. Mostly he's known for 2 things - the famous "It ain't intramurals" speech and the collossal meltdown vs Kansas that got him fired from Colorado.

The chemistry rumblings were the downfall there and it sounds like Hawkins put in a lot of tweaks to the old Trestman system instead of just adding a few pages like they requested. I'm a little surprised they kept Miller around in any capacity but maybe his contract works better to hold him in town rather than buy it out.

  10. Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Draft :Number one selection DL Linden Gaydosh (currently in other league). DL Urban (injured, expected later in season).Rec. Marquand.

Previous draftees signed : DB Stephen, DL Gascon-Nadon, DL Atkinson.

    Draft item here:

Unless things are really changing and the University of Virginia doesn't know it Brent Urban is expected back as their starter in the fall.

  11. DiCroce was cleared by the doctors at McMaster, his personal doctor and the training staff at the CFL Combine.

He passed those stress tests and the opening physical at Bombers camp. Sometimes guys just get hurt.

Don't really buy this at all.

I wasn't selling anything so put your money away.

Players at the CFL Combine spend an entire day with the trainers that test them beyond your regular doctor poke and check. DiCroce was cleared there and able to participate in the on field testing and drills. The Bombers talked to his doctors and the staff at McMaster to get further injury information and again he's been cleared since November 2012.

Michael originally broke that metatarsal in August of 2012, healed in 10 weeks and was given the ok to play in the playoffs.
