  1. But what is their agenda? What are the old boys club on the board doing to sabotage the Bombers?

They continue to hire only those who have had somewhat of a connection with the club one way or another and refuse to really consider any applicants who do not. This team has gone through coaches, GMs, and presidents, at a stupid pace. Quite often these people are relieved of their duties with years still on their contracts. Who is responsible for this turnover? And when there is turnover is we go back to the same pattern of hiring....

There may be no hidden agenda, but this current system is not working and hasn't for the last 22years. Judging by the current roster make that 23.

Why don't you enlighten me and tell me why having the board of directors is a benefit to this team and its fans. Maybe I'm missing something.

  2. I could see why. Being an eight team (soon to be 9) league with limits on rosters with regards to cap space and ratio, teams wait for the player to be released. As soon as the player is released from their contract with a team. Team B can the negotiate a new contract that fits cap-wise and more importantly...do not have to give up any assets. It is too small of a league for trades.

  3. Yeah I'm wondering if they'll make a move prior to the game.  I definitely wouldn't want to give them Garrett, at least not right before we play them... too much potential for that to blow up in a real bad way

I don't think there would be enough time for him to learn their system. If they like him they will find away to pluck him away from us if he is not activated or on the ir. might as well try to get something for him.

  4. What do you suppose the agenda is of this old boys club? What is it they are doing that is resulting in the current status? What would you have done differently that would guarantee success?

Hired Barker as GM and president. He had a plan...a pretty successful one it seems. I certainly would not be renewing Mack or Burke's contract either. Barker has won in Calgary and Montreal. I don't like him as a coach or as a person, but he wins. Something this team desperately needs to do.

Other than the odd import gem(Matthews and Simpson, neither of whom have indicated a desire to re-sign), what has been accomplished? We finally have draft picks, how many are still with this team under Mack tenure?

The board pulls the strings. It's time to think out side the box. Bring in someone who has proven to be successful.

  5. I thought this was relevant since we're playing Montreal in game one.  Right now, both Brandon Whitaker and Jerome Messam are on the injured list and the only healthy back they have is Steven Lumbala.  They also have an American named Tyrell Sutton on the practice roster, but I don't know why they'd put him there if they're planning on playing him this week.  Seems crazy to me to go into a game with one running back, especially when the guy is a rookie Canadian.  Bombers could be catching an early break here.

    Thoughts?

The may pick up Coker (Cut by Calgary or Riggs cut by the Argos). I wonder if they'd be interested in Garrett?

  6. Only if you believe that the Bombers would have ponied up the money to pay Milanovich and Jones.... Easy to attract the top coaches when you're willing to pay for them.

Barker was emphatic during his interview with the Bombers that his plan was to bring Milanovich. Probably would have been cheaper than paying for all the ex-coaches and current coach. Are the Bombers still paying LaPo? Milanovich wanted to coach for Barker. Just saying...

I feel that have the Board of Directors and their tunnel vision is preventing this club from succeeding. They are the ones who pull the strings and select the puppets.

Hopefully one day this team will be purchased by a local investor and dismantle the old boys club and allow it to be the successful franchise it once was.
