  1. 1. Winnipeg - beat toronto and Ottawa say what you will but.. 2-0 is 2-0

    2. Calgary - beat a bad montreal team but had a bye so i keep them in the top 2

    3. Edmonton is 2-0, beat a bad bc team and and equally bad hamilton team

    4. Toronto, we wooped them, they wooped sask, they can't be above us cuz we wooped them

    5. Sask - Beat a bad hamilton team, got smoked tonight, looked as bad as hamilton did last week in their loss, they can't be above a team they just lost too

    6. Montreal - Yeah they aren't good but 1 win is more than 0 wins

    7. Ottawa - that first quarter they had was better than what the 2 teams i have ranked below them have shown plus 0-1 is better than 0-2

    8. BC - awful. Has glenn lost it?

    9. Hamilton - worst team in the league by far right now.

Just basing this on right now, not on "talent" cuz that's irrelevant, if we are basing it on talent hamilton should be #2 but funny thing is, all that talent and they look awful. Don't care about last season, don't care about nothing other than what these teams have done this year

How anyone can put sask or toronto above winnipeg right now is beyond me. We wopped toronto who wooped sask. Logically we are above both of them.

The question isn't "right now" but what we expect at the end of the season. I don't expect Toronto and Saskatchewan to stay beneath Winnipeg at the end of the season, despite how much I would like that.

  2. That only works if the top 6 teams in the league are the 5 west teams and the top east team. So if you assume that there aren't any weak teams in the west then I can agree with it, but I don't buy the premise that every west team will prove to be better than the bottom 3 east teams which is why I didn't bother to include it in my original question.

For your scenario all it takes is one weak team in the west and then Calgary plays 6 weak east games and 2 weak west games for a total of 8 games against "bad" teams

Toronto then would have 6 against "bad" east teams and 2 against the "bad" west team for the identical total of 8 games against "bad" teams.

No. Toronto would have 8 against bad east teams and 2 against the bad west team for a total of 10.

  3.

    2. Toronto - they play eastern teams

I see this quite often on here, and honestly don't understand it in a 9 team format, can you or someone else explain why you think this will be relevant to overall record?

5 West teams play 2 games against each east team (8) and remainder (10) against west

4 East teams play 2 games against each west team (10) and remainder (8) against east

So a west team plays 10 against west and 8 against east

And a east team has  10 against west and 8 against east

But they are not playing against themselves.

Hence if Calgary and Toronto are both good teams, and for arguments sake, all 3 other teams in the east are bad and the 4 other teams in the west are good. Then

Calgary plays 12 games against good teams and 6 against bad teams

Toronto plays 10 games against good teams and 8 against bad teams.

  4. 1. Toronto - despite us exposing them, I can't see them being that far down playing east teams so much

    2. Calgary - best of the west, but plays more quality teams on a regular basis

    3. Saskatchewan - despite the Toronto bashing, I think they are more complete

    4. Winnipeg - looking good so far if they can keep Willy upright

    5. BC - Looking not too great so far. Didn't in 2011 either. When Lulay comes back I think we'll see a different team.

    6. Montreal - Still got the tools once the QB gets more experience

    7. Ottawa - Enough pieces to make a go of it most weeks

    8. Edmonton - I know they are 2-0, but I just feel like they won't last.

    9. Hamilton - Just awful so far and with that O-Line I can't see it changing much.

  5.

Im not calling anyone a liar because I am sure you experiences are true.  I live in South Winnipeg.  I've driven around during and after Bombers games.  Is it busy?  Yes.  Is it mind-blowing bad?  No.

Also, I never found the Jets game traffic terrible either.  I just noticed heavy traffic on North Bound Pembina when the Jets play.

One problem with the U of M location was removing one of the three points of entry/exit.  I understand why they dont want traffic using Kings Dr but still...

They widened the area around Chancellor Matheson & Pembina but not to the extent they could have or should have.

Still, after the first couple of games, the Bombera and fans figured it out (True North lent a hand too).

yeah not allowing people to enter or leave throught kings drive is a huge problem, i understand the reasoning also but... i think if they allowed people to do that, it would definitely help the "traffic problem".

I understand the concerns, and I agree to the no parking stipulation, but I would hope a controlled outflow of traffic through the King's Dr. area could be arranged.

    That would help.

Not 100% sure on entering, but you can exit post-game for sure on King's Drive, unless all the cars whizzing by us as we walked south on University were outlaws.  I think pre-game it's only open to people accessing campus for non-football purposes so to speak.

University Crescent is closed at the campus border both pre and post game.

Yes for King's Drive. The road is for students/staff who have classes that night, and considering that there are 4 Thursday night games with conflict with summer courses, it is necessary.

  6. ok fine.  But isn't Edmonton a laughing stock too?  I mean seriously.  That team is a freaking joke.  If by some miracle we crush Hamilton tomorrow, won't they also be laughing stocks?  This same crap was going on last year, people were saying "Winnipeg is the laughing stock of the league" yet Hamilton was worse and Edmonton had one more win.  Why is it always Winnipeg being picked on?  I don't get it.  There should be "consequences" for that. ;)

The reason the Bombers are being "picked on" is because of all the public crap that has been going on. From the stadium, to the firings, to the QB changes, to the QB bitching. It's been one headline after another. What has Edmonton done other than lose? The next day, outside Esk fans, it's forgotten. Yet time after time the Bombers have done things to get attention. Until we get some positive attention, all that will be remembered is the bad crap of the last two weeks.

Win, and it's forgotten, unless the players/coaches/management start saying stupid crap some more. There is a difference between being a really bad team, and being a laughing stock.

  7. But we're not winning. We have QBs bitching in the media. We've fired our GM and CEO. We're starting a rookie QB in a really important game trying to get a first win in 5 tries at a new stadium that was a year behind schedule.

We say a QB is going to be the starter for the rest of the year, then bench him 2 games later.

Yes. We are the lauging stock of the CFL right now. Winning cures all, but unless this team turns things around quickly, the wins will be hard to come by.

I don't get how we are the "laughing stock of the CFL" yet our record is the same as Edmonton with Mr. Consequences as coach and while Hamilton and Montreal seem to be falling apart.  This "laughing stock" shtick seems a bit media manufactured to me.  If we come out and start winning games all of this laughing stock nonsense will go away, and instead be placed squarely on actual laughing stocks like Edmonton.  Edmonton is a massive joke this year, and it starts with their head coach.  We actually had a really good effort against one of the better teams last week, meanwhile Montreal looked like Winnipeg in the LDC last year in their game against Toronto.  If Toronto hadn't pulled Ray early that game would have been 86-0 by the end.

  8. Listening to people complaining about the stadium reminds me of living in Vancouver when BC place reopened. Very similar complaints. All were fixed in short order.

Even those about the traffic. Keep in mind that a large chunk of people in line were people who should never have been there. Given some experience, those people in line will learn that they can't drive into the university and it will reduce the number of cars.

The transit people were taking notes, one of which was that the lanes going out of the UofM were empty and some suggested that they use one of them for a bus lane. That will open up traffic.

They need Cadets/Police on Pembina directing traffic. People who weren't going to the stadium were getting blocked at Bison (and I'm assuming UCrescent) It would be smoother if they could get the extra traffic out of there but can't if people driving into the stadium are in the intersection on red lights. It sounds like that was fixed for the ride out. I'm assuming it will be better next game.

The University needs to better advertise to the students that there was a game as quite a few had no idea. If you aren't a Bomber fan, you would have found out if your teacher told you (if they knew) or with the email that was sent out yesterday morning. (if they read the email) There are a large assortment of evening classes and that just adds to the volume. Ideally there would be no Wed/Thursday games but if there are, there needs to be more warning by the University for those who don't follow the Bombers.

As nice as it is that there is a drop off point, that needs to be done at Pembina or a lot on the west side of Pembina(unless it's someone with a disability). Those cars dropping people off are cars that don't need to be enterring the University area.

All of the problems last night can be and likely will be fixed (or at least improved) Will they be for the home opener is an interesting question.

I'm more concerned with the quality of the Bombers last night.
