Greaves and Jhomo Gordon likely scratches

    who'd you pick today?

I took Hamilton in the Pick 'Ems on this site but I'm now leaning towards the Bombers. Certainly today would be a good day to put some money down on the Bombers. Hamilton is a little beat up, Winnipeg is healthy and hungry to put together back-to-back wins. The undefeated streak at THF will end at some point and today is as good a day as any. Key matchup is Collaros vs the Bombers defence. If he gets on a roll again, the Bombers are toast. If the defence can contain him and keep his completion percentage below 65, Bombers win. Special teams will be key as well. Either way I predict a close game.

I agree with your analysis. The issue IMHO is that the Bombers are dead last in QB Sacks as of today. If they can not get pressure on Collaros and he is allowed time it could and will be a long day for the Bomber defence. And the TiCat front 7 is very strong. If the Bombers can play error free ball and get a few breaks things could be close. However I think the TiCat Defence will be a little too strong and the Bomber defence (especially the front 7) will not be able to put the necessary pressure on Collaros.

  2. Dieter (Ralph) Brock is the reason I am a life time Bomber Fan. The very first CFL game I saw in person (visiting Winnipeg from my home in Dallas with my wife - who was born in the Peg). I was able to get on the field (father-in-law was on the Bomber board in those days) and had the chance to meet Dieter personally. I then went into the stands behind the Bomber Bench. My first time seeing the field width and extra length really took me by surprise. I never thought anyone could throw a ball across the field or deep with such a wide and deep field.

On the 2nd series (not even sure we were playing) the ball was on the left hash mark and Brock threw a sideline pass from the left hash mark all the way to the right sidelines (where I was) and about 20 yards down field. The ball never got any higher than about head high or so and was perfect spiral. The ball was thrown so hard that it hit the slot back in the chest and knocked him down (can not remember who the slot was back in the mid 70's). And Brock did this with just a flick of his wrist and never even seemed to put any effort in the throw. It is now 40 years later and I still remember that throw!

I still have a very old (and somewhat faded) Dieter Brock jersey that I wear today.

  3. Not coming back home to see the Bombers at the old barn one last time.

Like wise I was a season ticket holder since our arrival in Winnipeg from Dallas in 1981. In 1997 we moved to Calgary and while I did get back for a few games between 1997 and 2000 or so after I opened our offices in Dallas and Houston along with Calgary I never got the time to get back for a game. We managed to return to Winnipeg from time to time and I visited the old Bomber store we never were back when there was a home game.

I have been back for 2 games at the new stadium which I live but the old barn still has a ton of memories for me.

  4. Neufeld was a huge upgrade over Greaves.  I just hope he can stay healthy this time.

Daniels back at RT was a huge upgrade over last week.

Best game by the OL all year IMO.

Willy had his best game as a Bomber.  Who knew he could run like that?  Certainly not the Lions. First time in a long time that we don't have one of the worst starting QB's in the league.

Sure, it was just BC, who've only beaten the Riders, but we looked like a competitive team last night. Our big plays looked more like plans than flukes. Best game we've played this year.

Agree 100% with your comments - Especially regarding Neufeld  and Daniels - If the OL can continue to play like they did last night and the DL can get some pass rush I think we are coming around. I don't think BC is as bad as others lead us to believe.

We are going to need a very disciplined and consistent pass rush tonight because I suspect our DBs are going to have their hands full .. I also wouldn't be against having a spy in an effort to limit Lulay using his legs to move the chains .. this game has the potential to be a complete horror story if the defense can't get off the field (or if the offense can't sustain drives and limit mistakes).

I'm not sure how much of a shot we have at a consistent pass rush. IIRC, the Lions have only given up 3 sacks this year and Lulay has the best outlet in the league in Andrew Harris. I think we have to focus on containing Lulay and keeping a man on Harris at all times. Maybe we can jump in front of one of his dump off passes.

If the Bombers assign Hurl to cover Harris I see Harris getting 200Yds or so. The Bombers have a long and not that great history when it comes to containing running QB's and I don't see anything changing tonight.

Honestly can't envision any scenario where the Bombers lose tonight. It is going to be a blowout. Can't wait to kick back with a tall cool Budweiser and watch the Lions get thumped.

Blowout?? for who??? Here is a scenario where in the Bombers lose tonight - The Lions show up! Sorry dude but across the board - offense and defense, special teams etc. Lions are better! I would be happy just to see the Bombers keep it close.

Oh Good... I new guys shows up to rip an established posted... and clearly doesn't recognize the tone

New guy??? I have been around forever just no time to post much! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I will root for the Big Blue (been around since the Total-CFL days) but really don't see much of a chance for them today. I read most of the posts when I get a spare cycle or two but work seems to get in the way! :)

  8. I don't. :)

You have to feel for them! Their Fan site is the only place that Nasty Nate (goes by the name Lyle.E.Style or something similar) is allowed to post. Most of us that visit and post there have him on ignore which is the only way to exist on any site he posts to. However their site has a number of good posters and even some folks from this site post over there.

But 0-3 with two of the loses in OT really has to hurt and their are a number of folks calling for heads to roll as would be expected on any site.

  9. Not very optimistic, after reading the skinny, on the Rider site....from Bile E. Style....

While I do post over on the rider site (they do have some folks that know CFL football and are pretty fair and open minded - Bile E. Style is not one of them). Nasty Nate has worn out his welcome just about everywhere and is getting some push back even over there. I put him on ignore and therefore don't even see any of his posts.

They have their share of goof balls but a number of them are strong CFL fans (even if they are Rider fans) and present a well balanced approach. Nasty Nate AKA Lyle. E.Style is not one of them of course.
