  1. just because somebody doesn't agree with you. Which i'm sure happens lots. Doesn't mean they are a message board troll.
  2. Single handedly? Yeah? Demond Washington, Nick Moore, Aaron Kelly... they had nothing to do with it? **** you're stupid. Making my brain hurt. what did I say before? Demond and Nic won the game last night. What is so hard to understand?.... you ever watch sports before? there is always a player of the game. No no no no not for you. There has to be more than 1 person who won the game? come on man. you give blue bomber fans a bad rap. i'll be very clear to you. NIC and DEMOND won the game for us. If they did not play the way they did. We do not win the game. And I know 95% of BB fans agree.
  3. He obviously thought Willy threw the ball fellas. Get a grip. It was on Willy for holding the ball foolishly not on Grigsby. You guys don't even know the play call, yet blaming the guy who single handedly won the game for us last night?
  4. Mike O'Shea did not say it was ok for him to miss the game. When did you hear him say.that? oh you mean in the news article 2 days after he was on video off the blue bomber website saying ''Turner will be playing on Thursday''..... the reporter asked him ''so you expect him to be back for the game?'' and MOS said ''he will be playing..... So that obviously means this fellow fans. Turner lied to the BB and said he was going to come back. When he got home. His wife probably had personal issues. Maybe they had nobody to assist her. Then Turners told the BB and say ''hey i'm not coming back'' but then MOS in his way said it was ok. Well he didn't say that back in the club press conference..... i'm telling you as a former football employee. Every single BB coach/player knows Turner should have been at the game. Turner could have left the day before but he decided to fly to Winnipeg last night. If it wasn't a big deal then it wouldn't be discussed all over. Why? because athletes miss their child birth. Maher did it..... And for the record. She had the baby he was there and he could have made it in time. It's not so much that he left. It was that he decided to stay for the extra days.
  5. And if you think Cotton is getting the ball this year you are wrong. My guess Will Ford will be released shortly and he they will bring in another DB, LB for help. And Grigsby will be the starter for the rest of the season.
  6. i'll leave it at this. When coaching in the NCAA. If you had a child on Tuesday you could go but you better be back for Saturday. Unless something happened to your wife/child...... I recall i believe it was 2004 a player from our program was in the NFL. His wife was giving birth saturday and had a game on sunday. He could not go. My wife and good friend assisted his wife for a few days when she got home the day after birth. He was on the active roster. Did not start, but saw probably 20 or so plays in a game on average. He knew that him missing a game could be the end of his career. Family is important you say but what family will you have when you are unemployed? In this case. Turner knows his job is safe. But what if the BB lost the game? then the BB miss the playoffs by 1 game. This might not matter to you but if you are in the game of football this will haunt you for the rest of your life. Coaching football you are hardly around your family. So to say family is #1. Let's be real here. Football coaches have a diff't value of what family time is. Nick Saban leaves 6am and comes home 11pm. Maybe gets home for dinner and this isn't even during the season. I'm a real close friend of Tony Levine who coaches in the NCAA. There are staff rules even if your son or wife has a birthday. You can't miss team functions. You have to understand that in sports it is different than your regular 9/5 job. It just is. And only if you were involved in a higher level of sport. You would understand it cause you would see it and feel it. There is a reason why pro athletes miss births even for the 15th game of a 82 regular season NHL game or NBA game. I'm not coaching anymore. I retired. You can argue all you want about anything and everything. However you need to back up your claims. American punter? come on. you don't need your punter to be Canadian. Cut Banks and keep maher. Cut Renaud and bring in another NAT player for any position. a CFL RB is not designed to be a blocker. You are required to block maybe 20% of your non running plays. Just watch the game and watch. Then tell me. Grigsby had a call to block backside OLB. the Will back came in and Grigsby did an admirable job on a guy twice his size.
  7. this is from a post last night during the game by a member here Funny I was howling about the same thing during the opening 2 quarters. Think the Ottawa O kinda tanked on its own here, as opposed to Etch's adjustments or whatever. They had some misfires and dropped balls that led to empty drives, but I will take that. We can't keep digging ourselves in holes like that though the rest of the way. at least we know someone else sees the same way.
  8. No there were passes that were dropped. The one you are thinking is a perfect example of anything you want to make of. It was a blown assignment. Ottawa saw it and we got caught but ended up getting lucky. All in all fellas we were lucky to win the game. Lots of work. Just understand the changes that need to made cause if they aren't met we will be 3-5 and you all will be wondering what happened....... source: years playing/coaching football in NCAA
  9. Actually short passes and reads are the fundamentals... fundamentals are holding onto the ball. reading the defense while setting his feet. Did you ever notice that Willy is actually horrible at his drops? He out positions himself for the throws he wants to make. Which Matt Dunigan mentioned last week..... So much work to go on him.
  10. he didn't try to take advantage. The guy was wide open and dropped the ball. Happened 3 times which could have let to 30 plus yard gains. That doesn't happen all the time or should happen all the time. we got out played this game. We got lucky! If it wasn't for Grigsby and Demond Washington we lose the game.
  11. Desia Dunn made the tackle of the game last night. just so you know. Grigsby is a RB and he doesn't have to block. This ain't the NFL. How many times do CFL RB's even get into position to block? not often. And if you disagree watch the games tonight. And Grigsby at least 2 times in the 4th had to block blind side and did an awesome job.
  12. 2 things. i'm not comparing Stegall to Kelly. But he can be used the same way. Gordon is not the same receiver as Kelly so that is off the mark. And we are using AK as Stegall. Down the field threat. drew willy strengths are his short passes and reads. He needs better work on fundamentals.
  13. if you all think they made adjustments what adjustments did they make? this is real life football not video game football or back yard football. You tell me what adjustments they made. In football writing. Did they remove a player and add a DL to contain the RB? Did they mix up there zone coverages? I wish the CFL used StatsPro used by the NFL and NCAA after 2-3 days they grade possessions and try to calculate % of different play calls. Which is a coaches killer in message boards like this that people say coaches did a good job. I am telling you that the BB did very little and Etches defensive game plan was horrible. Hence why we got burned down the field almost the entire first half. Certain players stepped up and also we got lucky with dropped passes. We need more from Etch or this could be a long season. No Suber and no Turner hurt us. But you have to game plan something for these losses.
  14. Booch there is a difference between coaching success and player success and player failure..... If Burris completed that pass down the middle who was left wide open BB lose the game..... I don't care what Ottawa did. If they have players open all over the place and drop the ball in the end zone it does not mean we did a good job. I would be upset with Ottawa's game plan in the 2nd half because they tried to out smart themselves with running the ball too many times. And I think they know that now. We got lucky!
  15. I don't have kids, want kids or even really like kids, and with that said, your ignorance is absolutely astounding. Well that is a bit rude calling it ignorant. Do you feel the same way when everyone says the same thing? or just me? Cause I think it's safe to say everyone in professional sports feels the same way. The kid was born last week not yesterday. We are learning lots about Mike O'Shea. If he doesn't comment he probably agrees. And MOS didn't come out and say it was ok for him to miss the game. He even said last week that ''OH BRYANT WILL BE HERE OF COURSE'' so you know MOS is upset with him.
  16. If anything Willy is...it's very technically sound and fundamentally I will go as far to say prob tops in the league..Missing o-lineman, hand issue, were reason for the erratic performance. He will have ups and downs but from a technical standpoint he the best we seen here in years...like I mean yeeeeaaarrrss!! oh boy.... missing OL was an issue. Hence why we need depth. So you agree with me? Drew Willy is not fundamentally sound. And basically the entire CFL panel last night agrees with me. There is a reason why he under threw passes last night and got sacked twice (before the hand issue) i'll teach you something. If you are in a 3 set drop and you pump fake twice and then lose your feet position and at the same time hold the ball foolishly you are not technically sound. He is the best QB we have had in a while but if we do not get him proper coaching. He will not develop the best he can be.
  17. Mike you have interesting perspective of the game....... First off Maher out punted Renaud yesterday. Why was the staff so high on him? He should have been cut last year. Maher punted 55 yards and had a 46 yarder into the wind with outstanding placement. Renaud punted 38 yard avg. enough said. Bryant Turner should have been in Winnipeg. There was zero reason for him to stay for 1 week. Like Troy Westwood say. You are different than a professional athlete. Almost 90% of the pro athletes actually miss the birth of their child to play in a game. Some even miss a meaningless game in MLB or NBA where as a CFL game has way more importance. Chris Walby said it best. Plan to have a child outside of football season. And that is the truth. It's like if you have a regular job that you know in the fall you will be busy. Majority of people would plan that. In fact isn't that just a basic life lesson to plan the birth of your child? and regards to Matt Bucknor. He got burnt once and you should know by now that every DB has that moment. He was almost perfect in the pursuit all night long and got at least 3 tackles covering his guy perfectly. Etches defensive game plan was an epic fail all night long. There were no adjustments made. It was a standard 4-3 combo blitz which allowed the inside DB's to play zone or the LB's to cover outside. They did this all night long so not sure what you saw. Unless you consider a dropped pass adjustments.
  18. Marshall Faulk was on Fox Sports Radio this morning before the Jay Mohr Sports show and was talking about Nic Grigsby of the Blue Bombers. Wow couldn't believe it. Apparently he and Grigsby are close and worked on his game before Blue Bombers training camp. Said Grigsby isn't even close to the player he will be. Apparently he runs a consistently 4.3/40
  19. blocking a concern? lol come on guys. His blocking was fantastic last night. Even Suitor was mentioning how well of a blocker he was. He took of 2 blocks in a row to keep the drive going.
  20. The theme for post game #2 CHANGES MUST BE MADE. And Mistakes have been made. And surprising contributers. SPECIAL TEAMS The press today is bringing up why Mike Renaud was wanted off this team 2 and 3 years ago. For whatever reason maybe it was because he had a final good game last year, he is INT, and he had a happy off the field story at the end of last season he was viewed as a major key for our team. Well everyone was wrong. 2nd qtr we get a call for no yards (15 yard kind) was it the gunners fault? no it was Renaud. Took way too much time to get rid of the ball and he absolutely botched the ball. Took forever to pin the ball inside the 20...... reminds you a lot of that Banjor Bowl fiasco a few years ago at CanadInns Stadium doesn't it?.... Biggest mistake we made in training camp was not give Brett Maher a spot on the team. Keep Liram and get rid of Renaud. Cut Banks, keep Maher and you are even. Maher punted the ball extremely well yesterday and will be one of the leagues best special teamer in a season or two. It's also noted already via media that Renaud's play almost costed the BB a victory or chance to get back into the game. Anyone know why Demond Washington does not receive more kickoff and punt returns? He is more of a threat than 'run up the gut' Aaron Woods. I don't hate Woods but Washington should be given about 50% more opportunities. I've said this for the last 2 seasons. OFFENSE It's obvious that 'The Great Grigsby' Nic Grigsby will be our starting RB for a long time. Nobody saw that coming. Everyone had Cotton and Ford penciled in as starters so we got lucky. Our OL has been decent however lack of depth is a major concern. BB staff must look for improvement whether they come from INT or NAT help. Come Labor Day we must have 2 new additions that are capable of playing well via FA or trade. Drew Willy makes exceptional reads. Throws the ball with speed. However our new QB coach has to work on setting his feet quicker. Aaron Kelly is our new Milt Stegall threat. Run him deep and again and again. Catches the ball very well. Julian Feoli-Gudino has been a major surprise. He is your typical possession receiver. Robert Gordon comes to mind. Works the field very well and is surely a capable starter. Has major weakness going deep and working long sidelines but he has a role and if used properly can be a major coup for this team. DEFENSE Missing in action was Bryant Turner and we sure needed him. End of story Turner should have been at the game. He was even on his way back to Winnipeg last night. One of the players of the game on defense was surely Jake Thomas who was disruptive all night long. Probably had this best game of his career since the game vs Edmonton a few years ago. Blue staff needs to find another OLB badly. Depth is going to be a major concern. Desia Dunn was fantastic tackling last night. Everyone else? Matt Bucknor will be our starting CB for the rest of the season. Donovan Alexander will never see the field and that is a good thing. We got lucky with NAT starting spot at CB this season. But next we must try to find an elite CB Etches defensive game plan was weak. He was not ready for the Henry Burris style offensive game plan and that worries me. Mike O'Shea needs to learn from this and make sure the team is ready more. This might be Etches weakness as a coach. Not able to game plan. I didn't see any adjustments either and if it wasn't for Burris's two close incomplete passes we may not have had a chance for our offense to take over in the 4th quarter. OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME AWARD: RB Nic Gigsby DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME AWARD: DT Jake Thomas SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE GAME AWARD: KR Demond Washington TAKE HIS HELMET AWAY OF THE GAME AWARD: P Mike Renaud
  21. maybe it was a mistake cause is see 2 other places with different numbers. at least i know the ticketmaster counter works. but it also means zero or almost zero pre-game walk up tickets were bought. i saw a line about 50 but maybe they were just pick ups.
  22. Is that the attendance they announced? CFL.ca has the attendance at 27,553. ya it was announced 27,504 ---- on the board.
  23. well the counter was exact. There was 27,504 went to the game.... which means basically ZERO purchases were made about 30 minutes before the game. NO PRE-GAME walk up. That is bad.
  24. as of 4:08pm / Did the counter 3 times more and it's very accurate 27, 515 tickets sold
