From what I've read, not all 25 guys who went in, had sex with her.  It seems like only a handful did and the rest just watched/recorded it.  Not that it makes any difference what the actual number was, it was still multiple guys with a bunch of others encouraging it and posting it online.

The mother has said they aren't going to press charges but I hope the police do charge anyone who posted or shared the video. It is child pornography.

This whole Gorilla story that is supposedly dividing the internet drives me nuts.  There is not a single person out there who, in the position of watching a 400lb gorilla drag their 2 year old around, if armed, wouldnt have shot him.  Sad, yes.  Tragic, yes.  But the kids life is more important.  thats just the way it is.  Those bleeding hearts are welcome to go inside the gorilla enclosure and we will all promise not to use lethal force to try and save them...I bet they will change their minds in a hurry.

Thought he settled with victim.

He settled a civil suit in the late 80's but the issue is that he plead guilty to having sex with the then-13 year old with the hope of being given probation.  But they felt the judge was going to go against the recommendations and send him to prison so he fled the US.  He's been a fugitive ever since.

Its amazing how many people defend his actions.  Goldberg famously said it "wasn't rape rape" essentially saying the 13 year old was mature beyond her years and wanted it.

A previous attempt to extradite him failed but current Polish justice minister said this:

"He is accused of a terrible crime against a child, the rape of a child," Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro told PolskieRadio. "Were he a teacher, a doctor, a plumber or a painter, I'm sure any country would have extradited him to the United States long ago."

This whole thing is has gotten ridiculous. The victim wants the LA County DA's office to stop. She even said she was glad the Polish court didn't order Polanski extradited when the original ruling was made.

Quote

Roman Polanski's victim has come forward to say that the Polish court was right to deny a US extradition request for the famed director.

Samantha Geimer, 52, said she was 'very pleased' with the decision, calling the legal battle over the 1977 sex-crime conviction a 'travesty' that brought unnecessary harm.

Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with Geimer, who was just 13 at the time, and fled from the United States in 1978 on the eve of sentencing.

'I believe they did the right thing and made the right decision given all the facts,' Geimer told NBC News of her reaction to the extradition denial. 'Since I'm well aware of how long this has been going on, I'm very pleased and happy.'...

'It's a joke. A travesty,' she told NBC News. 'Hollywood justice at its finest.'

Geimer wants the Los Angeles County District Attorney to stop pursuing extradition and 'honor the deal that was made' or sentence the director in absentia to time served...

But Geimer said that continuing to pursue Polanski is 'doing a disservice' to the people of Los Angeles.

'If they're going to waste time and money they should be spending it on helping people right now, today, that need help - not going for a publicity grab at everybody else's expense,' she said. 'Right now something terrible is happening to someone in Los Angeles - right now a woman needs help.'

I disagree. You don't think her lack of cooperation was included in the massive financial settlement?  Rich celebrities shouldn't be able to buy sex with kids.

He raped a 13 year old. He admitted to it. He fled the country. He's loved high on the hog on France making movies and millions of dollars. Doesn't matter that he's old. Doesn't matter that he's a talented director.

It's like the justice minister said, if he was a teacher no one would be defending him.  What possible reason should he be allowed to just get away with it?  Cause he's a good director?

Double standards that for some reason apply to celebrities....

Money talks I suppose.

Total hypocrisy, long list of celebrities could have been charged for similar crimes, starting with Charlie Chaplin and Elvis.  They did prosecute Chuck Berry in 1959 but that's a different ball of wax...

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot Vic Toews.

Well the good news is, in this case they WANT to prosecute.  The only people against it are Polanski's rich Hollywood friends that think they know better.  The guy is an admitted child rapist and a fugitive.  Bill Cosby had his shows pulled, events cancelled and everyone turned their backs.  But Polanski still works and makes millions, wins awards and is beloved.  Insane.  The idea he's paid his dues by being "forced" to live in the lap of luxury in France is ludicrous.  The fact he may (and should) go to Jail in his 80's is no one's fault but his.

This girl was 13 years old.  Its not even borderline...its not like oh she was 16 or 17 and its legal in many places.  13 years old and he plied her with booze and drugs.  And years later paid her off.  And good for her for getting the money but good for prosecutors for still wanting to see justice served.

Isn't there a statute of limitations? This happened decades ao.

He was charged already.  I think statute only refers to the time you have to charge the person.  He was charged with multiple counts and agreed to a plea to unlawful sex with a minor.  He fled prior to the judge rendering his decision on the plea and sentencing.  He did so because he hoped to get probation but his lawyer felt the judge was going to throw the book at him.

So no statute.  He admitted to it and never served his time.  Not sure if he can also be charged with leaving the US over this...I dont recall how he left.

Nothing will happen here. Especially if Polanski paid off the family of the girl he raped. Micheal Jackson was a pedophile but he paid off the victim's families & nothing was done by the criminal justice system... never affected his standing as a performer.

That's not true.  The case against Jackson was extremely controversial with no evidence whatsoever.  There are some good books on that subject.  Totally different case.

Polanski actually HAD sex with a 13 year old girl after giving her drugs and booze and admitted it.  Its not like he's "accused" and the victim wont coperate and the evidence is old and unclear.  He fled prior to sentencing.  He's guilty.  Instead of going to jail he went to France.  He deserves to be brought back and sent to jail.

Sure, little boys stayed over at Jackson's place all the time. He 'loved' little kids & he had so much money he could buy the greedy sicko parents off. I could see some of them ACTUALLY wanting their kids to  stay overnight with him so he could pay them off & they'd be rich. that's why there was never enough evidence to convict Jackson. A couple of million dollars cash shuts up a lot of lips. Oh yeah, then there was the time Jackson held his infant son out the window of his hotel but he was never arrested. Jackson was a sick man who used his money, power & influence to never get charged. I'd say that Jackson was every bit as guilty as Polanski. Maybe more as the allegations against Jackson of multiple sex offenses with kids were never truly investigated.

She was 13 and now she's 52 and just wants it to be over. If she wants this dropped then the DA's office should listen to her. I am in no way condoning what Polanski did but in the time that has passed he has basically served the sentence the prosecution wanted. He hasn't returned to the US and likely wouldn't return if this is dropped which is what they wanted (him deported). He spent more time in jail in Switzerland than he probably would have if he had been sentenced or would be sentenced to if he returned.

Disagree. If she was 15 and paid off you'd feel differently I bet. He thumbed his nose because he was rich. Should be prosecuted.

Iso - you speak about Jackson like you know. He was acquitted. So much info out there about how he was screwed.  I wasn't there but people are innocent until proven otherwise and he never was.  I don't believe for a second he abused a child. Moot point to our topic anyway.

Tell me TUP, if a 40 year old guy showed up at your hose wanting to play with your 10 year old, would you let him? That's basically Jackson. Except he had a huge money, a playroom in his mansion, an animal farm on his property & he liked it when little kids slept over. No evidence really because he paid people off to shut up. Others tried to sue the Jackson estate in 2015 but a judge said no.
