Well the issue there is mental health and sober thought.  Many people who try and end their life and fail are glad they failed.  So the issue is making sure this is not depression, something that they would not want down the road.  In this case, I believe the patient has a month or so to live, is in a lot of pain and wants to choose the time of death surrounded by family.  Hard to argue with that.

I dont know if it's still a law, or where exactly, but I think at one point in some places, a botched suicide could net you attempted murder charges

In reading about the publication ban on the physicians involved, it had me wondering if physicians can refuse to be involved if they dont agree with. They are ppl too with their own morals and opinions on the matter

It's my understanding, and in my opinion rightly so, that physicians can refuse to be involved.

You can't compel any health professional to do treatment they do not agree with.  As others have mentioned, if they had issues with this type of scenarios, they would not work in that particular field of medicine.

An unrelated right to refuse scenario came up a couple weeks ago and was reported on.

Hopefully if you want to end your life you can go to  a "specialist" who has some experience in this department.  It may create a whole new niche market for "death clinics" staffed by doctors who were never very good at preserving life in the first place....off hand I can think of a few who would be well qualified.

ISIS Member Found Disguised as Syrian Refugee in Canada.

Last Tuesday the RCMP conducted an arrest on a newly immigrated Syrian refugee. Sources indicate that the man was suspected of being linked to ISIS and have gotten past the rigorous screening process that Immigration minister John McCallum assured Canadians would pick out any discrepancies. When we contacted McCallum he gave no statement on the matter. This discovery may put many doubts into the minds of Canadian citizens on the eligibility to allow some many refugees into the country. Approximately 14 000 have already arrived in the country and are residing in 165 communities in Canada. The new refugees have been adapting well to their new homes, but this incident may have a negative impact on how the continue to be received by Canadians. Rona Ambrose made a comment following the arrest stating that this issue had been anticipated by the Harper’s government. It was one of the main arguments to deny their entrance before the federal elections in 2015. She followed by saying that it is unsafe to accept more refugees until Trudeau’s government can fully evaluate the security risk that is involved. Trudeau also made a short statement following the arrest saying that his government was working tirelessly to find a way to strengthen the screening process. He says that this was an unpredicted event and that he was assured the screening process met certain national security requirements were met.

I don't really have an side on the matter, as I see the pros and cons, but I have noticed an insane amount of hate on FB when they have recently ran articles like "Syrian family in edmonton wants better living conditions for their family of 7" because of bedbug infestation.  it was actually a little surprising how much negativity that generated. I can see something this above article opening a huge can of worms for the haters to feast on

You did notice this statement right?

"HotGlobalNews is both a satire news site and real news site. Posts should be read at your own discretion."

They also have articles with the following headings.

"Justin Trudeau To Build “Statue of Trudeau” in 2017"

"Justin Trudeau Arrested For Driving High Returning From New Year’s Eve Party."

"Justin Trudeau Wants To “Temporarily Shutdown” The Internet In Canada To Prevent ISIS Recruitment"

Not sure what the point of this news site is but there is satire and there is pure bullshit, this rag seems to be composed totally of the latter.  Might explain what Harper has been up to since he lost the PM chair though. :-)

I did not notice that, thx for the clarification. I saw it on FB a little while ago, then again today, but I think it was a different source. I didnt catch the "hot" with the globalnews.com so that'd probably been an easy clue. But I dont get the point in the satire sites if all they are doing is invoking hate and fear. That should be illegal

I'm not sure a site like that even qualifies as satire as there is no evidence of humor or wit in their articles.  They present themselves as a provider of both satire and real news with no distinction between the two and really don't explain their editorial objectives other than in that one line disclaimer.  It creates confusion and it borders on libelous when they make up false new stories and pump them out on to the inter-web with no accountability and little indication that they are not presenting fact.

I just posted a thought on riderfans about this,  first off, tragic and horrible news.  needs to stop but that wont happen anytime soon.

Thing I was thinking about, was recently there was the news that a top ranking ISIS commander Omar Al-Shishani was killed or possibly killed in an airstrike,  are events like this more retaliation then it is about just spreading fear/terror?  I cant recall if other events occured against ISIS prior to france, but I could easily see them sitting around after saying we need to strike back, and show them were not weakened or going to take this on the chin.

ISIS needs to bee stopped dont get me wrong,  but they seem to go dormant for spells, and with that Al-Shishani news so recent, I gotta wonder

I would suspect that sympathizers might be more radicalized or more inclined to develop a strong determination to strike back in retaliation.  But as you said, its not like if we ignored them they would embrace a life of peace and harmony.

One of my co-workers, his daughter just told them she has an opportunity to go to Europe as an exchange student.  Where?  You guessed, Belgium.

I think my thought process on it, was if there were direct correlations to the attacks on ISIS to these events, then security should be amplified after such attacks, not just go ok we killed one of your top guys and bombed the piss out of you,  carry on.  I dont know if you can ultimately avoid such acts, but seeing the photo of the 2 suspects in the airport each wearing 1 glove on the same hand looked pretty suspicious and any competent security would recognize it
