Lets see the last 2 young kickers with promise we chased out of town because they were young and made some mistakes. Paredes and Hajrullahu. One is the best kicker in CFL history and the other is about to make an NFL team......Shake your head

Paredes never played for us.  Only in camp.

Hajrullahu was broken.  Was happy to let him walk and grab Medlock.  One of the biggest moves that pushed the team into contention for Grey Cups, kicking and punting.

Paredes was never a Bomber in game. Was he even in our system? Hajrullahu was let go after 1 bad season and 1 good one. Legs has been a nuclear disaster from day one as a kicker.

Here's the bottom line. Do you want Leggio to have to kick a game winner in the west final? I know I don't. Might be the last guy in the league I'd want in fact. Maybe there's a way to not run him outta town, but also address the issue? Bring in a vet , make a trade?

If you can't kick a single from 30 yards out, I think it'd fair to ask questions. Lol. This is a championship quality team, no room for guys who can't get it done in the clutch.

Tell me who you want.  Trade for Castillo and pick a veteran starter to cut.  Castillo is still lagging Liegghio in percentage but maybe more clutch.

Who do you sign on the bye and throw on the field vs the Stamps?

A guy who can kick a single point from 30 yards out? Or a 32 yarder when called upon in ot. Guys not clutch. He chokes.

I don't know who we should sign or who's available. All I'm saying is do you really want him kicking for you in the west final in a close game? I personally don't.

Yeah who is that?  The Als kicker put a 20 yarder into the upright.

I groaned right away on that play at the end of the 4th cause the snap was about 1 yard and a half wide of Prukop and I knew it was going to screw it all up.  But yeah just need to make sure we get the rouge there.

I don't think on the whole we'll get anyone better than Liegghio off the street right now.

So this happened in August and there's a chance to build from here so it doesn't happen again.

There's not really anyone in the CFL save Whyte (who's not coming here), Paredes or Castillo who I'd take over Liegghio at this moment.

Wondering is Trevor Kennard a close comparison to our kicking situation? If I’m not mistaken he shanked a few game winners at the beginning of his career? He played mostly before my time though so I’m not sure if it’s apt or not.

I also feel Liegghio is the best punter in the league right now, it’s just the clutch FGs and converts. I’d at least cut Mortada and audition some FG specialist imports on the PR.

God kickers in the 80s and 90s were like a coin flip.  Westwood had lots of years well under 70% but also booted a 55 yarder to beat Sask in 03.

It's not my job to sign players. I'm just saying I see it as an issue if not addressed.  I would hate for our chance at a 3 peat be dashed because of our kicking. We can disagree, that's fine. I may be wrong, but I do not trust him.

Rules question: To score a rouge, does the ball have to land in the field of play? If not, why not simply lineup a punt instead? You get an extea cover guy from the holder..

They were kicking into the wind too.

Only time it has to land in the field for a rouge is on a kickoff.

Could also angle a kick to go out the side of the endzone, doesn't have to go out the back.

Have seen Prefontaine, O'Shea's former teammate for the Argos, set up for a FG style kick to coffin corner a kick and once to push a single through the side of the endzone.  Can kick it off the tee and put it out of bounds.

Yeah I agree that they needed to bring someone in earlier.  We have Mourtada on the PR.  Should have brought in someone much better.  Maybe could now, but I'm saying there's likely more value at this point in working through this with Liegghio than having a midseason kicker camp, putting guys out there and cutting them every time they miss a kick.

I was at that game. Westwood was absolutely a coin flip. I’ll never forgive the 01 cup, but he did hit a few playoff winners, and that 55 yarder was sweet.

Castillo worked out pretty well for us I'd say. Made some huge kicks in the playoffs.

Maybe you're right and it's best now to hope it'll work out with leggio, but I'm not a believer and really think this could hurt our chances. West is tight, could be the difference. I don't want to outright cut him, but ' hoping' it all works out seems pretty risky to. It's not an ability thing, it's a mental thing. Hard to coach that out of a guy.

For everyone saying Castillo is the answer he is kicking 78.3% right now for FGs. Legghio is 82.6% on the year.

For converts, Sergio is 8/10 (80%) and Legghio is 25/29 (86%)

Legghio also has a better punting average (47.4) compared to Castillo (38.5) though I'd attribute that more to our STs play being better than the Elks.

He's no world beater, but Legghio is Cdn which matters, if you want to airlift someone else in, you have to factor in where you'd start another Canadian into those decisions.
