So we're in the Lafreniere sweepstakes early.....the only thing is this club needs more than a top pic to right the ship....Total rebuild and a few years in the hinterland looks like this teams future....Sad..when you think it wasn't  too long ago we were a top dog...Big changes on the way and maybe we start with Chevy

The Jets are not in a complete rebuild. The have one of the top 3 goalies in the league, elite Top 6 talent on the wings and a point per Game Center all under the age of 27 (except for the Captain). They have Buff’s ( and possibly Little’s) cap space and they now have a shot at the #1 pick.   They also have some quality prospects on the back end coming in Samberg and Heinola plus Niku might make a nice adder in a trade.

They  legitimately need a 2C and a top 4 defender (with some size) and can use the cap space and perhaps the depth on W to address. If they happen to win the lottery, landing Lafreniere (you either trade the pick or move another LW to bolster the roster) enhances that.

While they are not a legit cup contender today, there are still too many quality pieces for a complete rebuild.   Moving one of the wingers might shakeup the chemistry too.

Excited for the off-season already. Lafreniere would be humongous. Hoping Chevy can use Buff's money properly and restock the back end. Whenever they get started again on a proper season (December?), things will look different, I'll bet.

Yeah, it does start in December i also thought. Mid-Oct last game. then 1.5 months off then camp.

Wonder if another shortened season. Suspect as much. EDM/TOR continue to be hub cities.

We lost four starting d from last year, Buff really hurt us though. Demelo idk we lack toughness on the D and as a team overall. Is there a top D that will come here? Tough year. Chevy definitely has his most challenging offseason in a long time.

A year ago we all thinking Kulikov not be back in 20/21 now it's like he's a must sign :D

Every GM that makes or does not make deadline trades and who doesn't win the cup should be automatically fired and scrutinized for ever.

Also damn Chevy for not predicting that Buff would bail on the team and damn him for not being able to find an all star level d-man after the trade dead line and draft day where so many high level players are available to pick up!  /s

Kulikov and buff gone - that’s what $10-12 mill?  Little is likely retiring... that’s a lot of cap space

theres some decent big D on the market - we will get Dillon or Hamonic or both

or trade niku and Copp for Trouba...

jets are really dropping the ball on developing a second C though - don’t see us trading for one - Roslo needs to step up

lafreniere will be nice for seven minutes a game while Maurice seasons him for five years...

No team can lose the likes of Trouba, Myers, and Chiarot at the same time and with the uncertainty and loss of Byfuglien, then carry on the season with not-quite-ready-for-prime-time players. Wasn’t going to happen this year.

I knew that. I just thought we might have had a bit of a chance in the bubble atmosphere of the NHL being the situation is so weird & the team had 4 months to heal their injuries until the first game back & then BOOM!! Key players gone & lights out. Unfortunate.

Looking at all of those injuries, we can see why we had problems BUT the lackadaisical play in that series was bull$hit...Helle was sharp in the initial game but you could see the play in front of him was way below par and he eventually regressed into the players he had in front of him....A series to forget for sure and I don't know how we replace the quality D we used to have in the near future...but Chevy is going to have to address that immediately

Hopefully we get lucky in the draft...A top pick would go along way in securing what we desperately need on D in a trade...Here's hopin'
