Strev has an absolutely insane ceiling, there's no way we can give up on him.

I'd be okay with a 2 year extension structured so that in the second year he has a starter's salary. If we don't give it to him someone else will.

One year stop-gap with Nichols or Collaros, then sink or swim.

Lol what team is gonna give strev a starters salary? And going in next year with strev as the starter is a huge gamble.

Yeah, like they'll sign 1 year deals. Streveler is not a starter. I won't comment further until I know who our HC is as well as our OC as that will go a long way in determining who our qbs are next season.

What happens this Sunday will go a long way in determining ‘dis, ‘dat, and de ‘udder.

Andre Proulx has become quite popular in Canada due to his work in the CFL. One day Andre and his wife were sitting in a lovely St. Boniface cafe and a reporter who was there to interview Andre began chatting with Mrs. Proulx.

“Madame Proulx, what do you think the most important thing in life is?”

“A penis”, she replied.

Overhearing, Andre said to her gently “I believe, my dear, dat in English eet eez pronounced ‘appiness.”

you felt so strongly about 'delete' that you posted it twice to make sure we all saw it?  lol... just fun-ing you a bit...

here's my deal with Nichols... yes, a lot of what's holding him back is Lapo and the schemes that he wants to use, but, Nichols owns part of it and may be part of the reason why Lapo does what he does as well... say what you want but the numbers, other than yards, do mean a lot to Matt Nichols... he looks to his efficiency numbers, completion %, TD to INT ratio as justification of his skill... he's not completely wrong in this aspect but it's part of the reason why his ceiling is 'good' to 'very good' but will never be mentioned in the same sentence as the 'great' or 'elite'...

Nichols plays it too safe, except for the occasional slant or deep ball he wants to see the numbers on his receiver's jersey to pull the trigger... the part of his game that is missing is you don't see him 'throwing his receiver open' or the back shoulder type of pass.  if he doesn't have a receiver sitting in a pocket or hole he checks down, which is evident by the throwing chart I posted... also, he doesn't play situational football, meaning that depending on field position and down and distance we will still throw the ball away instead of taking that shot down field... yes, there is a chance of interception at times, but, depending on those things I mentioned it equals to no more than punting anyway if you are intercepted... however, you down throw away the chance of a completion, or the frequent PI call, and deep the offense moving for the sake of not throwing the INT... in a lot of instances you may rather have your QB throw that INT to a DB instead of punting to a return specialist... it's not something you necessarily plan to do all the time but there are times in a game where it makes sense...

Lapo doesn't exhibit a lot of trust in Nichols by the game plan he gives him... if Nichols happens to throw an INT, Lapo really tightens things up in the manner in which he calls plays... you'll see all of our receivers in the same 5 to 7 yard zone trying to find a hole to become a target...

another thing with Nichols is that he seems to be very streaky, i.e. when he gets on a roll and things are going good we gets better as he goes... on the other hand, if he gets off to a rocky start he tends to keep moving in the wrong direction... look at the first time he played Hamilton this year, he was coming off that long streak of completions and in his first throw of that game he threw an interception and from there on the wheels fell completely off... he had 3 INTs that game and maybe a fumble as well... the offense as a group had 6 turn overs... but it was like quicksand for him that night, just kept getting worse...

the best thing that can happen for Nichols is to hit a long ball right out of the gates and he builds on it... when he's on, he's very good... but if you give him safe, as Lapo does, that's what you get, safe... but, if you give him a scheme that creates seperation for the receivers, gets the defense out of the way a bit, it allows for larger throwing windows and lanes for him to pass, which he really benefits from... but if I were his OC, I'd try to start with a big play out of the gates and then a few shorter passes to get him a good place and then start opening up the offense with more layered routes and at varying depths to allow him to be successful early and to build on it... otherwise, we have a hard time 'turning things up' if needed late in the game and tend to struggle greatly to move the chains and keep the ball and scoring...

Nichols has gotten the label of 'game manager'... people try to spin that into a positive but we all know that it's a negative... nobody wants to be labeled a game manager because it says you lack the ability to be a dynamic QB... it basically says 'you suck'... when being a game manager becomes acceptable it also becomes the norm... we have proof of that...

Did matt also not say at the beginning of the season that he had been working on his mobility ?..... I feel his mobility has caused some of his issues.

and to think i was banned twice for saying Collaros was better than Streveler...

You’ve never been banned    You were suspended.   If you were banned you just wouldn’t be here anymore.

No one has been suspended for an opinion except when what they say is an attempt to troll or they try to push that opinion across multiple threads and derailing those conversations.

If you think people that are disagreeing with you are actually attacking you, then report the post.  There is a report link on each post.

Or you can “not back down”,  do what you did last time and get suspended again.   Get suspended enough times and then you will be banned.

So are we willing to give up that 1st rounder to extend Zach???

He escaped the pocket and extended a few plays tonight that only he (and not Nichols) could do?

I'm willing to keep him around for the 1st rounder....

I was seriously pissed when they made the trade for him at first. I honestly wanted no part of him on the team. After the last win of the season I was impressed but still wasnt sold. I am 100% on board for giving him a full training camp and starter role. The passion, heart and skill he displayed was incredible.

I still wouldn’t sacrifice a first. Let him go to free agency. Consider  signing him or Masoli going into next season. Only issue I have with Collaros is obviously he’s one hit away from being concussed again and one more could be a career ender. With this depth though we can go far no matter what though.

Idk... the 1st round this year in the draft has some serious talent. Also risky given zachs concussions. Gonna be a tough choice this winter

I wonder if there is a loophole in this whole first rounder business. I wonder if we signed him after FA if it would still cost us anything. I doubt it? I’m pretty sure it only applies if we RESIGNED him prior, but I could be wrong.

What he did for us has been spectacular. Regardless if he stays or go, he goes down as a Bomber and Winnipeg legend. What a trade.

Yes, this now has to rank up there as one of the best trades in Bomber history...special kudos to Kyle Walters

I’ll say it again... I thought Walters had sunk his own ship trading for Collaros - that we’d hit rock bottom

glad I was wrong... Collaros showed us that Lapo isn’t 100% the problem and that an accurate deep threat changes his play calling

Haven’t seen anyone evade pocket pressure like ZC in a long time... reminded me of Khari

I will say the same thing about ZC as I said when he was our backup because my opinion hasn't altered:

The guy is a winner and has a set of brass ones. He is fun to watch and a deadly improviser, but his courage and play style will get him hurt and his throwing motion will lead to fumbles. But I'd have this guy leading the team any Sunday.

I don't remember, did he have a fumbling problem in TO or Hamilton ?
