Apparently not. The 1 side goes ultra low the other goes high... Meet in middle. This is the arbitration number.. 2.9 for an RFA like Copp is a bit high. The arbitrator will come in around 2.3 ish. Jets will be fine with that. This going low in arbitration isnt new. It's how teams operate. Oh? Like who.. Who have we lost that we drafted and developed besides Trouba? Myers? Nope. Tanev? Nope. Chiarot? Atlanta took him. Lemieux? Nope he was part of the Myers trade. Who have we lost besides Trouba? And honestly... This is how u build a sustainable winner.. Non core players move on. Copp isn't good enough to be a core player. Edited July 20, 2019 by Goalie Brandon
Goalie
**** it. No members of your bottom 6 are core players.. Guys like Copp Perreault Tanev etc are guys you let go so you can keep your actual stars. The copps and tanevs are replaced by guys on ELCs. This is how the current NHL works. These bottom 6 guys are not part of the core group. If Copp wants to be here, he will be. If not, he will be replaced by a guy on his ELC in 2 years. And we move on.. Losing bottom 6 guys? Welcome to the new NHL where you are building around your stars, Jets have a few of them. Edited July 20, 2019 by Goalie

Ugh you're undeservedly smug some days... nice straw man I know exactly how arbitration works and Copp deserved a multi-year deal at the same pay as Lowry - as in he should not be going to arbitration I also know that guys who go to arbitration are almost always goners

Brandon
Copp is asking for 1 year because he wants to get paid sooner then later. The offer isn't an insult it's a typical offer. He'll get 2.25 hopefully for 2 seasons. Goalie

Floyd
Between Pionk and Kulikov, Jets are locked into some garbage D contracts this year... wtf Chevy just handed a garbage defence man who had a few good offensive games the same contract as Morrissey... Morrissey-Pionk Kulikov-Buff Beaulieu-NIku That is ugly.

blue_gold_84
For all intents and purposes, it's a bridge deal for Pionk. Not sure why anyone's upset about that. Dr Zaius, JCon and Goalie
Dr Zaius
Pionk was a young d-man carrying around the corpse of Staal at 23 years old. It was akin to when Trouba was stapled to Mark Stuart. Pionk will be fine when he's playing on an actual good team with a puck-moving partner. blue_gold_84

When they traded for him, on 1290 they had some of the Rangers sports guys on and they said Pionk had a really good first half of last season and was more then capable of being a top 4 d-man. As the season went on his play tanked and they weren't sure if it was fatigue or because of the team he was playing with.
