My biggest thing is, I really don't want to overpay for some perceived "name"......**** going all in on this Derel Walker dog-and-pony show and pay him 275k when he's an injury risk. I'd much rather pay less for someone like Matthews, or someone we haven't even thought of yet, that might be just as good of a fit in the big picture.

I agree.   I like Matthews, or the possibility of Zylstra later on.     I'd also consider Roosevelt if the contract was structured for performance due to injury history.

It'll be interesting to see what Roosevelt is worth in FA. He has the potential to still put up big numbers in a good offense, but his injury history scares me.

Jones is a good player and far better in coverage than Loffler..

I don’t understand the hate towards him, maybe because he doesn’t have the big hits and highlight plays that Loffler does.

Hmm he does tho. Is he not tied or close to for career punt blocks as a Bomber?

Everyone is talking about Lofflers big hits. In 1995 they would have been game changing. In todays game, they aren't. In fact that hit on Manny (while one of my favorite of all time) ended up costing the Bombers big time. Big hits are not needed or (in terms of player safety and game planning) wanted anymore. I'd rather have someone who can break a pass up or pick it off then lay a big hit. Keep in mind, I love hard nose big hitting football. But the game has changed.\

I'm willing to see what Jones/Hecht can do out there. Looking back, Jones was often highly spoke of by his coaches and made plays when given the opportunity. Will be interesting to see if he can get back to that form. Hecht filled in nicely a few times last season. But I don't see him as the future for the that position.

Darren Bauming was just on am1290 and shared some interesting thoughts.

-  bombers are talking to Derel Walker but doesn’t think they will be willing to pay 275 to a receiver.

- bombers will be in on Chris Ackie but he still is checking out some nfl opportunities. He said he may be someone the bombers go hard after on day 3 or 4 of free agency.

-  Chung is a good Canadian guard however he and at least half of the blue bombers media didn’t have him on their all star ballot.  He was voted in by voters from the east who were basically just rewarding the bombers offensive line for being great overall.   He believes of the two Goosen is the bigger loss.  Bombers are high on Cody Speller and Couture probably has the inside edge at center.  The wildcard at this point is Geoff Gray who has great tools and some nfl experience. Bauming believes Gray factors in more as a guard than tackle in the cfl but does have the ability to play tackle.

-  this year’s draft is defensive line heavy. He expects the bombers to draft a defensive lineman and an offensive lineman in the first round.  But that could change a if a certain stud receiver  or player at another position falls to 4.

I think Derel Walker is too expensive BUT IF the man looks at the potential the Bombers have post season compared to the arenogoods then his choice should be here...If he's willing to take a little less now....he could make that up easily in the playoff run culminating in a Cup pay day....Hows that for confidence... hey hey

This is always the typical koolaid rebuttal...it never gets old.

If you want to suggest the organization is poorly run  I’m all ears for any points that stand up to logical scrutiny.  It’s just that some people are never happy or just make red herring arguments like a pre-existing Grey Cup drought.

yup...Bring back Nevis...familiarity with scheme and players....send the rest packing

That one depends on what they plan to do with Canadians. He may be the odd man out if they are keeping their option open to starting a Canadian on the offensive line.  Bryant younger and cheaper for the import spot.

When you have an older Qb, running back and we were close last year ,i don't think pointing out that we are not throwing money around like other teams that seem to be desperate to get better is a red herring. The Grey Cup drought is a fact.We are like the Jets when do you throw all in to get the prize? It definitely doesn't seem like that's the case for the Blue this year ,we are better on defense but worse on offense based on the offseason.

I think you’re basing this on an emotional reaction.   Winnipeg already did throw big money at Bighill and Jefferson.  Each team is working with the same cap.  Edmonton signed some guys sure but they also downgraded at quarterback and receiver. BC threw around some big money but they also have a long list a veterans who were there last year and who won’t be back.  They have to make decisions based on what’s realistic. Nobody besides BC was going to sign Reilly and nobody besides Calgary was going to sign Bo.  That much is evident.  There are still a lot of good players out there and we will see what Winnipeg ends up adding to the roster.  Calgary lost more talent than Winnipeg and I don’t see them going on a bender at the Casino over it.
