Word out of Calgary today is that OL Spencer Wilson is not very happy being slotted as the 6th OL on the Stamps depth chart. He wants the chance to start again as well as a raise in salary & is prepared to leave the Stamps to get it. Wilson is relatively young at age 31 & can play every position right or left on the OL & do it very well. With the retirement of Mathias Goosen should the Bombers try to sign him as a FA to replace Goosen at Center? I think if he did get to FA he'd be courted by a number of interested CFL teams.  We don't know if Michael Couture can start or not. If not Center then he could slide over to Guard.

Going to a last place team with Bellefeuille as the OC? Not a chance.

And Rider fans are speculating they will land him....

They hated him so much until he became a FA and now they want him. Not a chance he goes to that **** storm and get torn apart behind that OL.

He either goes back to Cal and maybe BC/EDM make a huge offer for him.

He'll re-sign with the Stamps. Priders think that everybody wants to play for the Riders. Not.

So BLM expected to be a starter from day 1?

I'm also a little surprised about that... I thought he might look for a job where he's the back up with a shot at becoming the starter... something like Miami or Jacksonville... or Tampa probably falls into that category too, since I'm on a Florida roll here...

God forbid you have to work for a starters job. He isn’t even half the player Flutie was and he had to fight against that scrub In Buffalo.

Flutie had such a raw deal in Buffalo....   this taking from his Wiki page...

Quote

Flutie led the Bills to a 10–5 record in 1999 but, in a controversial decision, was replaced by Johnson for the playoffs by coach Wade Phillips, who later said he had been ordered by Bills owner Ralph Wilson to do so. The Bills lost 22–16 to the eventual AFC Champion Tennessee Titans in a game that has become known for the Music City Miracle, where the Titans scored on the penultimate play of the game – a kickoff return following the Bills' apparent game-clinching field goal.

The following season, Flutie was named the Bills' backup and only played late in games or when Johnson was injured, which was often. In fact, during the season, Flutie had a 4–1 record as a starter, in comparison to Johnson's 4–7. In a December 24, 2000 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Flutie achieved a perfect passer rating, completing 20 of 25 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns. Following the 2000 season, Bills President Tom Donahoe and head coach Gregg Williams decided to keep Johnson as the starter and cut Flutie.

Find it interesting too that most teams...some more than others have locked down a lot of players..some big names too, and the Riders have been very quiet other than a couple of Meh guys (Purifoy and Edam)

Either they are sitting on a bunch...un-announced as of yet...or they will be scrambling...or they are gonna throw the bank at Reilly or Harris...and see whats left to re-sign guys...which in itself is a recipe for disaster on an already thin depth team and one that has lost several starters already from last year

That's because the mentality exists in Regina that they're a qb away from a great team.

It's clear you didn't hear or read that "O'Day is ready".

Imo, the best course of action for the Riders would be to secure a starting QB and build around that. It would be a disaster for this coming year for sure, but in this league you gotta have a QB. They don't have a Chris Jones defence to rely on, although Riderfans would have you believe their defence won't miss a beat, and really there isn't a ton of talent on that team that hasn't already walked away. Might as well throw some serious dollars at a QB and begin a rebuild. The Riders don't believe they need one, but they really do. Chris Jones was a fantastic HC, but terrible GM. He got more out of that group than anyone could have expected. If they don't get a QB they are a 6 win team this year and will be until they find one. Get one this year and start rebuilding around him and their might be hope for next year.
