He played in 3 Grey Cup games in 1935, 37 & 39 winning twice in 1935 & 39. He was a Western Inter-Provincial Football Union All Star as a Flying Wing in 1938, at Guard in 1939 & at Quarterback in 1940. Kabat was elected to the Canadian Football Hall Of Fame in 1966. SpeedFlex27 Posted October 13, 2018 Author Report Share Posted October 13, 2018 (edited) Middle Linebacker Phil Minnick. Signed as a rookie out of Iowa State in 1965. He was a CFL Western Conference All Star in 1966 & 1968 as well as an All Canadian in 1967 & 69. When he was healthy, Minnick was one of the most dominant middle linebackers in the CFL. For 4 seasons from 1966 thru 1969 he played at an extremely high level. A severe knee injury in 1970 caused him to miss a good part of that season & all of 1971. Minnick returned to the Bombers in 1972 but moved to outside linebacker as Mickey Doyle had taken over Minnick's MLB spot. He retired after the 1972 season.
