Maybe we find out the true identity of Anakin's father is Darth Plagueis?

They could. But I always felt the idea was Palps created Anakin. He has a **** eating grin when he explains the power to create life. And as I recall the script did include him specifically saying that.

The implication was Plagueis did exist and did teach Palps to not die.  Which is how he could be in Skywalker.

I think it will be more than a vision.  But probably not Palps physically alive.

J.J. said he wants this to be the end of all 9 films not just the OT. So to connect to the PT, you use Palps. And Anakin.

I would guess Kylo redeems himself through a final sacrifice when he realizes everything he believes is BS and was manipulated by Palps.

Remember on TFA he stares at Vader’s mask and says “show me again grandfather”. Which implies he’s seen visions of Vader.

Since Anakin was redeemed it means that the visions were fake or anakins dark side is sort of it’s own sith ghost.

Having Anakin come to kylo in Skywalker to explain to him how his whole believe system is BS would be pretty cool.   Especially if it’s almost an angel/devil scene where kylo sees both Palps and Anakin at the same time. Family reunion.

Plagueis transferred his entity to Palps. Palps to Snoke? Snoke to ???. To Kylo?

The entity continues to look for a suitable host. Vader didn't work (all crispy and whatnot). Luke wasn't a good host. Kylo, maybe.

Rian wanted to subvert the idea of the Skywalkers being special. But I don’t think that works in the saga.  The reason the Skywalkers are special is because they were created by the force itself. Undermining that just to be different was a huge mistake by Rian.

Could have stopped at Rian wanted to subvert...

:D

Solo was worse in the sense it was terribly boring and convoluted and not on keeping with the characters.

But solo only ruined itself. 8 nearly ruined the entire trilogy.

But it had Donald Glover and Woody Harrelson.

Ever have a movie you watched but for the life of you can't remember anything about? For me that was Solo (and Justice League). But you're right. It was just a crappy stand alone. SW8 ruined SW7 and I'm not excited about SW9.

Kennedy screwed up big time with their big idea of film maker friendly movies and playing this weird relay with the saga, handing off each film.  They should have fired Rian when he tore up JJ's story for 8 and turned in his own, awful awful script.

I think JJ did a terrible job on Trek but a great job on TFA.  It shows his different respect level for the franchises.  He should have done the entire sequel Trilogy.   Hopefully he can save it.

Solo was just a terrible plot and the love story undermined his relationship with Leia.  They didn't show Solo as the scoundrel he was purported to be before ANH.  It was terrible and should be ignored.

JJ Trek 09 was great and so was TFA.

Trek 09 was ok.  There was a lot wrong with it but judged in the context of a re-boot, it was good. STID retroactively made it worse though.  The basic issues with Trek was JJ going into it not knowing Trek, not liking Trek and feeling it had to be "fixed" by being made more like Star Wars.  If JJ had respected Trek the same way he respected Wars, I think his 09 film could have been amazing.

Plus, hiring a hack like Orci to write it was a bad idea too.

I enjoyed Solo and thought it was a good movie.    The only reason 8 sucked was because they made Luke a whiny baby and killed him off.    Rogue One IMO was light years better then both.

There was more to dislike about 8 than just Luke. Throwing out Snoke, Reys's parents, Leia floating in space etc. Plus the whole Casino planet session that added little but took so much time.

I liked Rogue One a lot. It's too bad they all got killed off, but it does make sense from a continuity standpoint.

I agree. rogue one was great.

Luke not acting like Luke.  Snoke. Rey’s parentage.  The casino plot just didn’t belong at all.  The Mary Poppins Leia scene. Side lining her for a new character that was basically just her.  The slow motion chase through space.

It was awful from beginning to end.

Almost impossible to recover after Luke threw the lightsaber away at the beginning.

I didn't mind Snoke dying and the Leia scene was cheese but it didn't ruin the movie.

I am very confident that if Luke kicked ass and was strong that people's opinions would of been very different of the movie.

We all wanted to see Luke kick ass.  Had the scene where he projected himself actually been real....wow. And have him crushing walkers with his force powers etc.  That’s all we wanted.

I enjoyed Solo.  Thought it was a good take on the character.  SW8 was just pure crap.  Just like Frosty said, as soon as he threw away the lightsaber I knew something was wrong.

My problem with solo was mainly the plot was boring. It was really boring. And the characterization of solo was wrong.  It was like taking the heroic solo from Empire and Return and showing the younger version of that character.  But his arc in the trilogy was going from a selfish rogue to a hero. If he was always a  hero it undermined his arc in the trilogy.

The love story undermines his story with Leia too.  He should have been a selfish jerk who either didn’t care about love or womanized.  He could still be loyal to his friends (chewy and Lando). But he was way too heroic and lovey dovey.
