Riderfans are trying to spin that there is no way that Franklin signs anywhere but the Riders. The most funny is the resurgence of the "drawer contract" with Franklin that Ed Hervey sent to the league that made Franklin angry. Here's the thing....all CFL contracts must be notarized and signed within 7 days of execution with the league. The "desk drawer" contract was simply a negotiated extension that Franklin signed...nothing more. They are trying to spin it that Hervey made Franklin sign two contracts when he came into the league and waited until the last minute before FA and executed the 3rd year despite Franklin's objection. What a load of crap. Apparently multiple forum members there have CFL office insiders that fed them this info....lmao. I can't believe Stronson, Rotor, and RDavidson are still banging this drum.

Are you surprised? They're all flatbilly fanboys who think every potential FA wants to play in Riderville.

No way the Argonauts trade for Franklin if they don't think he'll sign with them. Worst case: he's a solid backup for a season behind a future HOFer. Best case: he's the team's starter in 2018. Can't really lose in either case.

I like williams, he just hasnt been used well. Not to mention BCs offense was down across the board seemingly. That said they over paid for him in a huuuuuuuge way.

Knapton sucked this year too. A couple of underachievers getting a fresh start. I'd say this trade is a win-win or possibly a lose-lose if neither guy rebounds.

Oh please let Gary Crowton HC in Montreal...  with Drew Willy at QB...

Can't wait until we trade the Mulumba's rights for a 1st round pick

that would be bloody hilarious.  I'd rather see if Mulumba's going to give up the dream and come down next season or not before saying "f it" and trade his rights..  He will be a force in the middle if he comes down.  it would be a shame to lose him like we lost Mace.

All good news here. The Argos have sorely needed a higher public profile and aggressive marketing, and this ought to do it for them.  Its also a real vote of confidence in both the Argos and the CFL.

I agree. The Argos need the ability to raise their public profile and get the marketing dollars to do so. And the CFL does need a team in Toronto no matter how many folks think otherwise.

Production sure. But on a bad team and bad D playing end thats easy to expect.  Also, speedster wr passed 30 vs a DE at 28.  Knapton doesnt have as much wear n tear, and has been durable.

You can find speedsters easier then effective pass rushers imo.

Yeah thats the truth. The argos arent gonna blow the doors off the TO sports scene. But they will be stable.  BMO field, and MLSE is the best thing to happen to the argos in years. Including the GC.

I don't follow soccer at all but I heard on the radio recently that 3 Toronto F.C. players were earning in the range of $5 million each per year, it turns out to be very true.   TV ratings compared to the CFL are quite low with around 100,000 fans tuning in to watch a game on a good night, gate receipts in relatively small stadiums wouldn't generate near enough revenue either.  Anyone know how the economics work in M.L.S. to allow them to pay those kinds of salaries?

Upon further investigation I found this list of published salaries.
