GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn Was Armed With Gun During Insurrection He Helped Incite
Hours before sheltering in the Capitol, the first-term lawmaker was at the "Stop the Steal" rally encouraging Trump supporters to reject the results of the election.

By Sebastian Murdock, HuffPost US

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) said he was armed with a gun during the Jan. 6 attack on Capitol Hill by supporters of President Donald Trump, many of whom came from a rally where Cawthorn spoke earlier in the day.

Speaking to the Smoky Mountain News a day after the violence, Cawthorn said he was on the House floor when lawmakers were notified to evacuate as a mob of Trump supporters began to pour into the Capitol.

“Fortunately, I was armed, so we would have been able to protect ourselves,” Cawthorn told the publication.

A spokesperson for the first-term lawmaker also confirmed to HuffPost that Cawthorn was carrying a gun the day of the siege.

“It’s Congressman Cawthorn’s general posture to practice his 2nd Amendment rights, as well as the rights afforded to him as a member of Congress,” the spokesperson said in an emailed statement on Wednesday.

Donald Trump Set To Be Impeached For Second Time.  Trump will be the first president to ever be impeached twice, this time over the Capitol insurrection.
By Matt Fuller, HuffPost US

WASHINGTON ― A majority of members of the House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to impeach President Donald Trump for the second time.

The article of impeachment charges Trump with “incitement of insurrection.” It is a single article, narrowly drafted by Reps. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) while they were in lockdown during the Capitol riot last week.

Mitch wants Trump gone, but by delaying this McConnell can:

Pose as a law and order/defender of the constitution, by "punishing" Trump and (more importantly) prevent him from running again
Not have to face the red hat odium, by kicking out Trump before his term ends.   He would take heat...but he is not up for re-election

I think that you are right- McConnell is trying to look like a righteous politician who damns what Trump has done all the while being careful to not anger the lunatics who follow Trump and worship at his feet.

Shocking, Trump stiffing some one said no one ever.

If Rudy was the best Trump could get, who's going to represent him in court? Time to start thawing out the caveman lawyer.

They should go on Judge Judy.
