is the person using the N word also a person of colour?  And why use such an extreme example?  Talk about missing the entire point.  On purpose.

White person using the N word.

Not an extreme position when you are advocating for total free speech.  Unless you are suggesting that there should be limits to free speech.

Anyway, go ahead and answer rather than filibustering (you knew what the question asked).

Good lord if people are actively questioning whether we should have an issue with Nazi's....yikes.  I guess it explains the objection to calling a large chunk of Trump's supporters white nationalists.  Whats that expression about protesting too much?  Explains a lot.  Many very fine people to go around I guess...

Look, I can cut and paste from Wikipedia too!  Looks like the US has a problem with Communists too...yikes.  I guess it explains the objection to calling a large chunk of the DNC communists.  What's that expression about protesting too much?  Explains a lot.  Many very fine people to go around I guess....

Do you ever stop?  Like really, enough is enough...the petty insults and trolling/baiting is beyond acceptable.

I will wear this post like a badge of honor, given it's coming from Captain petty insults Mctrolly.  And believe me, you passed "beyond acceptable" a long time ago.

What the heck is wrong with you???  Mocking, belittling, insulting, attacking.  Do you think you're clever?  In wrestling we call it "over selling" and its awesome because it means you're losing it.  Are you REALLY now defending Nazi's?? Wow.

Reply to the person who made the post if you want to debate it...but man, using whataboutism to diminish the nazi/white supremacist/white nationalist base of the guy you support is....just wow.  Just...WOW!

so no, of course not.  That person should not be doing such things, and should be punished for it, for sure.  But to just ban the First Amendment because of this one scenario, is like chopping off your head because you have a toothache.  It's nonsensenical.

So what is your position exactly?  Do you seriously want to throw away free speech? Because I find that just abhorrent.  And so would Eric.

Actually I was talking about the Canadian election.  I assume you were being deliberately obtuse.

In an American politics thread?

While everyone is talking about the 2016 American election... Hilary... trump... You quoting someone referencing the 2016 American Election...

Yeah it makes sense that you were talking about the 2015 Canadian Election...

Please forgive me for being so obtuse...

If you honestly think I am defending "Nazis' (whatever that even is any more) then you have passed trolling, and have gone into the lunatic zone.

I didn't do that at all, just wow! is all I have to say in response to these continual attacks.  Just wow.

of course I was, there was a direct correlation to the 2016 election, which was obvious.

But holy ****... let's get back on track here.

Wide Left is totaly right... just more deflection from real issues.

Uhm... war with Iran anyone?

Is it just me or is The USA pretty much has decided to go to war and is just trying to set the narrative before it "preemptively" Strikes Iran thus completing The bargain with UAE and Isreal?

and we're back to this nonsense.  Here's a deal - stop labeling people with racist terms like "white nationalist", because they don't just fall in lock-step with everything you say, and then guess what, you will stop being disgusting.  Because it is disgusting.  And if you are lumping yourself into the 98%, then you are truly delusional.

no, it's pretty cut and dried - those who win the electoral college win the US election.  That's why some people figured out that you should actually campaign in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, and some were too arrogant and lazy to even try.  The whole point of the electoral college is so some states with bigger populations can't just over-run smaller states.  We should look into this in Canada, maybe Quebec wouldn't be given SNC Lavalin treatment if we did.  It is funny though how Democrats never said boo about the unfairness of the electoral college until they lost.  That's actually hilarious.

That may be one of the reasons for the electoral college system but not the main reason.  The founding fathers who created the US constitution were men of privilege and power, they created the electoral college system to protect their position and ensure that a mass uprising such as the French Revolution could never  gain control of the USA.  Blathering on endlessly about democracy is bollocks, the system is set up for the wealthy to protect the privilege of the wealthy, as we see today, as has it always been.

Here is the comical irony of their intent that missed the mark with Trump..

"As Alexander Hamilton writes in “The Federalist Papers,” the Constitution is designed to ensure “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” The point of the Electoral College is to preserve “the sense of the people,” while at the same time ensuring that a president is chosen “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.”

I have yet to read of any politician running on a platform to ban the First Amendment, so I suspect this is hyperbole.

I believe free speech has limits and acknowledge that determining these limits is problematic.  Some Democratic countries have already managed to determine some pretty reasonable limits that don't result in "throwing away free speech".

Equating the most violent, disgusting and demeaning word in the history of America to a toothache is something you may want to reconsider.

Thanks for that post, and it makes good points.  Perhaps the US system does need an overhaul.  But do it now.  It's too late to change 2016.  This is like saying that the Bombers should be awarded the 2007 Grey Cup.  It's over guys. Change the rules to allow instant replay, and now reffing mistakes that cost us that game are caught.  Fair ball.

no, not really totally right.  But it's not exactly a level playing field around here so....

When someone use a toothache simile for the N-word... it shouldn't be an even playing field... it shouldn't be a matter of "very fine people on both sides"

Anyways... before this thread gets locked, let's all get back on track.

Will the Dems impeach trump?

Should they?

How do you guys think the electorate is going to go if the begin impeachment?

I would think a reasonable person would be too horrified by the amount of Neo-nazi organizations in North America than to respond by posting a list of historic communist and socialist organizations (some with the sole purpose of countering nazism).

Some people would find that telling.

oh good Lord, now you are making this crap up.  This is just disgusting.  I really really am disappointed in you guys.  This is just plain awful, to even think that I equate these two words, and then to spin it this way to try and push your Orwellian doctrine, is truly the lowest of the low.  I am truly nauseated by the horrible things I am seeing on display here from certain people.  As I said, I think that people should be punished for using such language to demean people, but to kill the First Amendment, that's just so awful.  One day, when the thought police are beating down your door, I hope you remember that you were a part of the group that wanted it this way.

There is always the ignore function. If these people are offending you, you should exercise your right to ignore them.

Words.  Matter.  I don't blame others for what I write.

Also, there is no First Amendment in Canada.
