Making the league look bad: item #2837

Riders don't have to worry about pesky outsiders, at their big ole event.

It was a mutual decision by @sskroughriders and @Commish13 that he does not attend 2016 Plaza of Honor on Sept. 16

Yea, saw that on Twitter.  Sad times.  And Riders will spin it that Orridge snubbed them.

Prior to today that was kind of what was believed.  Now I think its fairly obvious the Riders don't want him there to ruin a great event to recognize some former greats.

Well it's easier to point the blame elsewhere when you can spin it to make it look like the commish isn't willing to come, the Riders must be unhappy that it's out now that it was the Riders who told him to stay away. More work involved for Rowdy Roddy Pederson to spin this as the big evil commish having it out for the Riders.

Its a expensive dinner to attend, I'm glad he isn't coming. Don't want to see his face there. He won't be welcome at Mosiac either, not that we have to worry about him showing up there anyway.

What a joke Rider Nation has turned into.

Maybe you should rescind the invitation to your idiotic coach, as he's got far more to do with your dumpster fire of a team this year than Jeffery Orridge does. It blows my mind that you guys despise Orridge as much as you do, he's got nothing to do with why your team is such a disaster. Typical though, look for anything to cling on to the hopes that you guys aren't an absolute mess, it's just "Big Brother sticking it to us"

Newsflash - this us against the world mentality doesn't do anything but make you guys look like a bunch of clowns. If you're as important to the league as you all claim to be (disclaimer: you're not) then why would the league purposely mess with you? You can't even get your conspiracy theories right.

Thank god I've realized that the keyboard warriors who represent Saskatchewan really have nothing in common with the fans who sit in the stands, because I yet again had a wonderful gameday experience in Regina this weekend. It's only when I get on the internet that Rider fans make me want to slam my head against the nearest blunt object.

We talked all offseason how we wanted to see the situation with Jones in Saskatchewan blow up and now that it has it's glorious! Rider fans are falling over themselves trying to explain how this could happen and they've landed on the most ridiculous of things to pin it on and the amount of mental gymnastics going on to try and find proof for that point is highly entertaining. Bombers in the mix for a playoff spot and Rider fans showing how truly and utterly insane and deluded they are... best CFL season ever!

I do agree with others who find it amusing how the Rider fans are all about the conspiracy, compared to our Mike Kelly years where we sucked it up and blamed the coach. How the fans can still be behind Jones (and I know not all are) is beyond belief.

Not as many are as you think.

It's probably good that I was, even if it was just for a week. I'm still over there reading but man, I wouldn't be able to hold my tongue right now. Rider Nation looks like an absolute joke right now. Bunch of entitled whiny brats. Not every single one of them, not by any stretch. But there's too many.

I have never seen a team embarrass itself as thoroughly as the Riders are right now. Even during the Mike Kelly fiasco, it never got this bad for the Bombers. Just a complete dumpster fire. What player in their right mind will go there or stay there to go down with that ship. The Riders are screwed until they can show the circus has left town. Unfortunately for them, the king of clowns (Jones) is not going anywhere soon. Just a completely moronic angle he is trying to peddle to players, and RiderNation in general. He's got his squawk box fully firing grenades at the league. Just beyond classless. Epic fail by Jones both on the field and off the field this year. Implosion....KABOOM!!

He is clearly the wrong man for the job in Regina.

I strongly agree with this. I hate the Riders as much as anyone but I've attended 11 LDC games there and the fans around me have always been great. Some guys sitting in front of us even wanted to get pictures with us after the game this year. Good rapport in the stands. Then I come back on the forums...

After the game, I logged on while I was in my hotel (I was pretty drunk, I can't deny ) and read about 4 or 5 pages of screaming and whining that they got robbed, we got handed the win, blah blah blah.

So I wrote "hehe"

Logged on the next day. Banned for a week.

Making the situation even better is that I do think Jones is a good coach and if he'd kept his head down and just worked on rebuilding the team he likely would have got the job done sooner rather than later, but he went ahead and created a circus and now he's burning bridges and making himself look foolish, barring a quick and impressive turn around he's likely going to wind up being run out of town. So many similarities to Mike Kelly it's not even funny. Kelly could have been a good coach but the ego cost him, same happening to Jones right now from the looks of things.

Next, the Saskatchewan franchise will want to defect and start their own league. The CFL will be back to 8 teams.

Three teams will play in the Rival Football League. All teams will be from Regina. All will wear the same uniforms because the green guys only know one jersey. Players will be supplied by the gigantic taxi squad and 3000 players that have been tested for the limit of 120 players only per squad. They will play one game a week, with the third getting the bye because they are entitled to a rest. Each team will play 13 games in protest of the 2009 great cup. There will be 13 players on the offence and defense, because counting 12 is too hard, as we saw on Sunday. Each team will have Darian Durant as quarterback, because they love watching him play. Chris Jones will promote himself to commissioner, gm, coach and earn all that extra cash. If one team scores 20 and the other 10, they must share points in order that they tie, 15-15. Socialist leanings suggested this scoring scheme as adopted from and invented by the Russian "Original" World Series of baseball.

I was at a wedding on the weekend and a friend of the groom lives in Regina and has been a corporate sponsor of the Riders for over 20 years.  So in his words he's lived thru the best of times and the worst of times with this team.  Not only is he a corporate sponsor but he also has 6 season tickets for his entire family.

This is the first year that he's questioned if he wants his business associated with the Rider brand.  The PR cheating and the Khalif Mitchell move is what he said has pushed him near the edge.  He was a huge an of the Jones hiring but his arrogance has him wondering if he's the right guy for the job.

He's a rider fan thru and thru and he'll never give up his season tickets but he's seriously thinking about continuing his corporate sponsorship.  So I asked him if they fired Jones, would he continue with his sponsorship.  He said absolutely.

It's funny because the league has spoon fed the Riders as "best fans", "Canada's team", etc and they certainly have a lot of good passionate fans. No one will deny that. They've also benefitted from being one of the better teams in the league for the past 15 years. It's funny how sensitive the fan base has become, instead of looking in the mirror and taking blame for the way the team is ran they use every excuse in the book. No other CFL fanbase but the riders buy that " us against the world" bull crap. We've had plenty of down right awful teams over the years, and some questionable calls against us but at the end of the day our fan base has always been able to look in the mirror and take responsibility for where we're at as a football team.
