Nothing better than a nil-nil ending with players writhing on the ground all over the field in response to a gust of wind.

Don't get the soccer love either....boring as all heck...like living in Sask...and the images of guys flopping to the ground like a sniper drilled them from the nose bleeds is more than I can stomach...only reason it's considered most pop sport in world is because it's the cheapest to play and costs are minimal...hard pass for me

I personally couldn't think of any CFL players, former/present who played defense that got into trouble for cannabis related "crimes" while also struggling academically, who then became a star or hell even a HOF player. That has never happened.....there are also exactly zero CFL players who currently consume large amounts of cannabis during the season.....that also never happens....I've never personally seen all star players in cannabis shops purchasing products that are meant to be inhaled....not me....no sir....the CFL would never put up with those dope users.

wrong....soooo wrong....hahaha...or is that arcasm?...I'm thinking it may be after rrading it a second time....if so....carry on....I was just speed reading stuff as I am in and out of here fast for most part

Also in regards to measureables and combine numbers/reported numbers...take all with grain of salt...especialy 40 times....Straight line speed with no ball in your hands, or a target you are pursuinf doesn't really mean a lot....what you do with a ball....in and out of breaks...or that extra gear when fluidly running...thats where you look...same with d-line...first step...how and where they place and use hands in regard to that...and who has a real good tilt...thats where u find your speed demons off the edge

Wasn't Osh who made any comment about how we will draft. It was Walters. He stated that "our kind of guy" is one that is physical, tough, and loves to play the game. I see nothing wrong with any of that being a prerequisite for any of our draft picks. If you want to attribute it to Osh, and move the goal posts on what was said have at it though, I don't see Walters as a guy who is leaving talent on the board at the draft. Yea, he had a rough draft last year but so did every other GM. It was an awful draft year.

Winnipeg is also happy that BC lost out on the bidding for BO's services. I guess this is a win win....actually nope...the Lions lost and are apparently giddy about it.

I know it was Walter's and that draft strategy of late has not served us well...Did I say anything about Oshea?...no i didnt....so dont put words in people's mouths...but on the flip side many others as well as you also say Osh isnt soleyrepsonsible for the complaints about poor roster and Practice roster Management, and that it's partly the GM who is brubging in the talent...so you cant nit pick both ways either...I also know for a fact Osh is highly involved in the personell they pick via the draft....rgardless...the strategy of past several yrs of picking guys who dont amoubt to anything but spevial teams usage is flawed...pick the best talent thats left and maybe yu get a guy who actually pushes for a job

Except that hasn’t happened the last couple of drafts.
Picking our type of guy is great, as long as they are an actual viable contributor at a position and not sts guy who doesn’t have the potential or ability to play a position.

I hope we dont pick "our kind of guy".....code for a plugger who will never be seen as a starter calibre let alone viable back up for the most part....and I mean picks 3 thru whatever....not in general before all the dbags start to chime n

I’m pretty sure Walters could blindfold himself and throw darts at a John Hodge mock draft and end up with a better player than Tanner freakin Schmekel

but...but...practices hard...puts in the work....as per Osh...well wtf?!?...any player who isnt should be kiked to the curb

  5. ZC didnt take a step back...the extra hits...and appearance of being slower to process...was his stubborn nature toget it all in one shot....he went away from the more surgical carving up of teams and reaping the rewards of the bigshots being there from teams trying to adjust...he gets back to that he will be just fine...his seeming to have happy feet, and being spooked in the pocket was a result of that bad tendancy he got in...and is easily fixed.  He then a lot of times foced things he shouldn't have, and you know damn well both he and coaches know this...easily fixed...and sure has been already.

Brown...still not sold on him, and we are just fine with ZC and Strev...probably even better. Strev when his time comes...will turn out to be the better starter than Brown when all said and done...Wish him well, but he in  pretty precarious spot in OTT and can see a world of ugly coming from there...and not all his fault but don't think he has the chops to over come it...and can see him getting smacked arouind a lot there...frustrated....and forcing things and looking very much like a first time starter

I also am on the side of due to his build/body type he takes a beating and it will affect his play...and likely injury woes.....guess we shall see

Ford is raw as a teams guy mostly returning kicks in college and won’t out do exume who got drafted based on teams ability alone and has been doing it at a high level for 4 seasons. Hallett wasn’t our best teams guy at any point in his time here. Clements cut his teeth in this league as a strong teams guy.
We spent the last 3 drafts picking teams guys with little to show for it.

our best teams guys consistantly last year from what I saw was Kelly..Cole...Cadwalder...Bolo....Gauthier....I exclude Exume from his work after getting here because he is gone now and is a under appreciated big loss

And yup...draft strategy failed last several drafts now for quality team depth, and we need to shift the mindset.....I have said before you can make anyone a good teams player....you cant make a good teams guy a useful rotational guy/back-up

If we keep all these picks this yr, focus should be on the best players on the board and not just these one trick pony guys, as it has severly depleted our quality of depth...

I don't see Murphy amounting to much here, or really offering us much either other than a guy to stand on the sidelines....and not see a rep for the next several yrs if e keep him...now looking back at last few seasons mybe he does have a purpose as we have shown a penchant for dressing guys who didnt even need thier shoes tied up

And we lost all of the key ones who did. Who is our Briggs? Or Miller? Or Exume?

We’ve got a few good ones like Cadwallader and I think Jake Kelly and both Halletts offer a lot too but our ST depth is super thin too right now as far as being proven

I think Charbaneua or however it's spelled should fill Briggs spot....and with 10 picks if we dont trade 1 or 2 for a proven player...we should find some value for teams in the draft....but....and big but is we need to lose the teams only mindset from the last 4 drafts...draft actually players...as any player at pro level can play teams...and will scratch and claw to get on a roster doing so save for fat lineman and the useless big bodied guys who should never have been picked..Hello Schmeckle...

I think Kelly could be a ST ace this season and Murphy likely gives us a few catches but I don't see a huge impact from any of the 2023 draft class if a huge impact is quality starter.

Kelly already was a demon on teams...why he wasnt on roster all yr if/when healthy was again bizzare...putting Schmeckle on in lieu of him some games was just dumb...as he played no teams...had minimal if any reps on defence and did zip with them...one nice play all yr and was a guy funneled right to him

sorry that should have been Ford.  But  I do agree that last year our back up import talent wasn't utilized properly or we lacked depth.

ie. when grant went down we had to experiment with several players none of whom were adequate, and utilizing Jackson as an import was a waste. If they are looking to fox to be good enough to reolace walker why wasn't he given more opportunity. Same could be said for Haba,

Our top 10 canadians are the best in the league but it does get thin in the bottom 4 or 5. Hopefully with 10 draft picks this year and the return of ford it will be better. I also think they like the developement of Charboneau after he went back to school ly

I thought u ment Ford...but then thought maybe u had some intel on a dude...no worries

You may be right, I just think that we need to at least give him more than his rookie season.

I'm willing to see what he has in camp....but if he shows no improvement from last year, then cut bait as he will be already 28......and the fact he showed no improvement at all last yr...leads me to believe that he has no upside potential on defence....We should have used him in the role we wasted on Jackson, and saved that DA spot and allow him to get extra reps there, maybe he can convert like Miller...as he was a linebacker...not a fullback

Our top end talent at NAT is damn good, but our depth is not what it used to be.

I'd put Demski...BO...Neuf and maybe Woli at top end.....Eli if he actualy gets to play....after tha.t....our remaining starters are not upper echelon by any means...Lawso potential for sure...and hopefully he gets lions share this yr, as he has been stagnated for 2 yrs with the Thomas deployment...imagine where he would be if he was the defacto 80% of reps guy last 2 yrs...

Thing is our Canadian depth has been on the weak side the last two years save for back up ol.
Do you think the 3ni safety’s are better than import dbs like Parker? Do you think Bennett and Schmekel are better than Habba or fox?
Our back up candians aren’t better players than our back up imp players. Nis are well behind the imps position by position league wide.

People just don’t get it. They watched rotations with high quality guys propel us to grey cups and still can’t see the Forrest from the trees. We’ve also seen countless times useless guys like hurl, kuale, up to Jackson rostered and even started. People talked bad about pigrome thinking he wouldn’t get picked up or how he’s not worth it now. But the same people don’t recognize that the mos guys that start or kr seldom if ever get picked up when we let them go. We start guys then let them go in the off season and no one wants them as back ups.

mos is the best player manager, culture guy, and leader in the league. He’s also the worst at setting up a roster.

agreed....and youcan go as far to say the starting of Kramdi...as an extra Canadian essentiually for no particular reason was odd as well....The fact we had no Import...or couldn't find an import better than that is pretty sad...even sadder is the fact we had a few guys we could have put there better....yet chose not to....Kramdi is adequate average at best, and what we see...is his ceiling...not floor...we need an upgrade there net yr whether it's Ford (Who I sure on physical skill alone will be better) or an import

For all Osh pluses...he is not a good roster architect and also I question his evaluation of talent...or perhaps the rasoning behind who gets reps and rostered...Success despite our selves at times....and that as is obviously apparent the last 2 yrs is slowly eroding away

I think you dont ger what i ams aying, if you are starting 8 cdns, and you want to replace thomas ir lawfon with an american, you can. As you still have the required ratio..If your questioning how the coaches evaluate talent, thats a question unrelated to rule.

With Jones returning he too might be able to beat out an american rookie giving more flexibility. Sure for emergency it might be benificial, but for the teams utilizing it regularly it hampers developement of the cdns  Can you give examples of teams using it that gave them a competitive advantage?

Strange that you go directly to insults rather than backing up you comments.

we dont take advantage of starting that extra Canadian either...another point to consider...if you are going to start extra, then roster appropriate guys to really make it worth the while...we don't

Curious as to the Jones character is tho...hopefully he's a stud, but have no clue who you are referencing......

The most frustrating thing is the way Osh chose to cut off the teams nose despite the face regarding the nationalized Americans.

I’ve never before heard of a coach deliberately declining to use an advantageous rule.

A comparable scenario would be a coach declining a no-yards call because he was mad they got rid of the 5 yard penalty.

he didnt like the rule when they were creating it...as he is on the committee and from what I hear was the only ditractor to it....needs to at times put his Canadian Bias and love aside for the betterment of the team...as was basically sole reason for his No vote...and this I guess is his statement and dieing on that hill with not using it....to me....thats not a good trait to harbour...using stubborn bias at expense of maximizing your roster, and making your team better...but whatever...he ain't gonna change and have to rserve ourselves to th fact that for his tenure here we will see more less than optimal moves, Just cause he is friggin Mike Oshea

I have no problem with Booch voicing his concern over the wat our roster is utilized, whether once or a thousand times. Why do you??

cause dome arte boot lickers...so to ay....and no offence btw...I like OSH as well but he has a few big flaws....and if corrected...just iagine the juggernaut we would have...and we likely be going for 5 straight cup wins

lol. WJ and JJ are already on the field. No need to exaggerate your point. It would of had to be Haba or Fox coming on.

do u not understand the usage??...you could use either...or as a national if someone went down with injury, anbd use an import to replace the actual injured....or if you added say a Cole for Kramdi for a certain scheme/set...U dont have to pull an import off say at end...or Dtackle to compensate....for example replace a Walker/Fox with a slug like Schmeckle or a severly declining Thomas....or a WJ/JJ/Haba...whomever your starter is with a useless Bennett...thats how it benefits....u can slice and dice it ans lick boot bottoms all you want, but utilizing the rules(s) only benefit the team as a whole over all...If you don't actually see that then I truly question your intelligence

  14. 6 hours ago, Pete said:

for Osh to utilize the nationalized  rule assumes you have Americans that are better players than the Canadians they are replacing. Considering that we utilized 8 canadians many times is an indicator that many are underestimating the Canadian talent that is available now .

If we wanted to play an american at one of the Canadian starter positions, we could have done so regardless of the rule

So you trying to say WJ or JJ taking reps in lieu of Bennett...Schmeckle...Thomas is a downgrade??

That's almost laughable...but keep trying to defend the lunacy of not using the rule
