Palister was a ****. We knew it, his own party knew it. But sometimes people will overlook someone  being a **** if they feel they need to. At least for a while. Stefanson is completely incompetent.  She is in miles over her head and abilities. People don't and won't overlook  that.

She had an easy opportunity to raise her and her party's popularity and she failed at it spectacularly.  She gave in to the right wingnuts and that's why her popularity is so low.  I don't disagree that the unpopularity of her party isn't helping her, but she's not doing herself any favours either.

Canadian National Security Begins Preparations for the Threat of American Instability

Conservative commentator George Will once said that Canada is internationally known for its “exceptional” common sense. So it should be no surprise that at the same time many of us are nervously looking around at each other, sensing an increasingly hostile and volatile country, Canada is beginning to plan ahead to protect itself… from us, or – more accurately, the threats that arise out of our situation.
A brief summary from CBC News:
“The United States is and will remain our closest ally, but it could also become a source of threat and instability,” says a newly published report written by a task force of former national security advisers, former Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) directors, ex-deputy ministers, former ambassadors and academics. Members of the group have advised both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and former prime minister Stephen Harper.
And,  of course, the Canadians didn’t feel any need to “both sides” this despite the fact that Canada itself has a relatively small far-right movement itself, pointing fingers directly at Trump, Fox News, and the lack of faith in democratic institutions. Indeed, cooperation between Canada’s small but increasingly hostile far-Right and the more established, mature, and powerful American movement is one of the very top concerns. If the far-Right (which is increasingly just “the Right”) begins organizing violent campaigns in the U.S., the Canadian report believes there will be spillover to Canada.
The Canadian security experts pointed at the trucker convoy as a tangible example of a foreign threat, though non-traditional in that it didn’t spring from government action: “This may not have represented foreign interference in the conventional sense, since it was not the result of actions of a foreign government. But it did represent, arguably, a greater threat to Canadian democracy than the actions of any state other than the United States,” the report says.
“It will be a significant challenge for our national security and intelligence agencies to monitor this threat, since it emanates from the same country that is by far our greatest source of intelligence.”
Their report also notes that it is damned hard to coordinate with the U.S. government when the United States’ polarization is so strong that the American security official on the other end of the line may be sympathetic to the Right’s campaign. Additionally, given that the two countries share a lot of infrastructure (electric grids, water systems, etc.) there are worries that a purely American attack will necessarily spill over, impacting Canada.
Notably absent from the report?  What to do if the border becomes flooded with Americans seeking refuge start crossing the border, legally or illegally.
How can we know it’s a concern if it’s not in the report? Because many of us with dual citizenship already have our plans set for the first time we run into a giant intersection taken over by vigilante neighborhood “security patrols,” we’re taking our loved ones and rushing back to a relatively sane and sustainable democracy. And plenty of Americans will remember a vacation or business done in Canada and the different social environment. If we’ve thought about it, they’ve thought about it. But, they’re damn sure not going to lay out any hint as to what they’re planning or even acknowledge they’re planning for a potential crisis to an international public that may be the very people they’ll need to sort out, people returning home versus people wanting to join forces.
They are, after all, internationally renowned for common sense.

I think the CFLPA royally screwed this up but at the same time I am completely in favour of keeping the Canadian content. I also like it kept simple (no snap percentage) as that makes it easier on casual fans.
I very much enjoy watching the best players compete in the NFL but can still enjoy the CFL for what it is. Take away the Canadians and you're left with a weird copy of the USFL and XFL, both of which I have no interest in.
I like that our team is run by a bunch of Canadians. Reducing the opportunities for Canadian players has a downstream effect on a lot more than people think.

Also... their leaders treat their own citizens like disposable waste.

Example... leaded water flint michigan. Not one person held to account. Even though it was done with full knowledge.

Example.... police at a bridge during Katrina, forcing people (black) trying to escape flooding, back to the flooded area. (Turns out... cops murdered people.)

no healthcare...insulin ten times canadian price.
Blatant criminals like trump walk free.  Low downs go to jail for stealing a pack of smokes. For profit jail. Supreme court corruption.
religious "leaders" have two jet airplanes, while sucking cash out of their congregation.
never ending foreign war, creating hundreds of thousands of trained killers.

Of course people go nuts with the system they have.

The American culture boils down to this : My wants, desires and beliefs are more important than anyone elses or anything else.  Including the lives of other peoples children.
Any society that requires armed guards to defend their children is sick and broken.

Just another day in America. The Democrats will wring their hands and propose restrictions on firearms in the full knowledge that the NRA and the GOP will stymie any and all restrictions. The GOP and NRA will not disappoint, and adults and children will continue to die. The NRA and GOP will fatten their wallets and clutch at any reason, real or imagined to try to blame Biden, the Democrats, progressives, atheists, fake global warming, immigrants and anyone else their diseased minds can fantasize about. Another step towards the looming American apocalypse.

I was thinking about this. There is more to this these shootings than the amount of and type of guns.

People in the states, are violent, more violent than we are able to understand.
violence is viewed as an extreme, but acceptable solution to some every day problems.

look at the airport incident with the football player.

Use of violence is encouraged, its even legislated....the stand your ground laws.
enabling citizens to go after abortion health care workers.
hailing rittenhouse as a hero. He met Trump.
They are just a violent country.
there are many many guns in Canada, but for the most part, we do not see them as a solution.
americans have been exporting extreme violence since the korean war, now, it has  come home.
Switzerland has a lot of guns, but the people are not nuts, so..... they dont have these shootings.
Just a part of the decay of their society, which has been going on since the seventies. No real sign of significant change ahead for the better that I can see.

I guess I should have said why I was a bit shocked.
1- A total stranger said we need to shoot the PM
2- As far as I know we are not and probably can't send oil to the Ukraine
3- Neither the carbon tax or our loosely promised hope to send oil to Europe to off- set the bans on Russian oil and gas are the cause of the rise in fuel prices.
4- I thought this new idiocy of not actually looking things up or thinking things through would stay south of the border.
I really dislike Trudeau.  I think he is a snotty rich kid  who rode his Dads name . But so what. I didn't and won't vote for him but enough people did that he was elected. That's a democracy. Lots of people on here despised Harper but the man was elected and you have to live with it. Neither are Nazis. Neither are dictators. People have to get over themselves and realise that in a democracy the desires and opinions of the individual don't matter. And in Canada we don't shoot our leaders even if they dont represent our personal opinions.Rant done lol

It is getting weird/ scary. I was fuelling up a slip tank at a cardlock yesterday. A guy about my age that I didn't know pulled in to fuel his pickup and came over to talk which is normal in a small town.
Dude : Getting rready to go to the field
Me: If it ever dries up
Dude: Boy I wonder what that will cost you when you get the bill ?
Me : I don't know but it won't be cheap.
And this is where the conversation went right off the wall.
Dude : Well, I hate to say it ( looking around ) but someone should shoot that Trudeau
Me : ( after a few shocked seconds ) You mean because of the carbon tax , because that's got nothing to do with why the fuel price rocketing up. It's just whats going on in the Ukraine and that being used as an excuse to charge more money here.
Dude: Well Trudeau is sending them fuel ! ( Edit : He also said they are trying to make us drive electric cars like it was some horrible thing)
At that point I gave him a whatever and got busy strapping my tank down. But I find it unnerving that a random stranger would assume it was OK to say that to me about ANY leader. The world is collectively going off its nut.

It’s funny I met a couple yesterday from Vancouver that absolutely love Winnipeg, the food, the culture, the architecture. I work with a marketing agency and we went out for drinks and dinner with some clients that are from Alberta and Toronto respectively.. they both loved Winnipeg too. They like how friendly Manitobans are, the cool restaurants, how attractive the women are lol! Anyways long story short there’s pros and cons to every city but Winnipeg does have a charm to it. Everything they say is absolutely 100 percent correct.

Was at TC today being a fan. So mostly watching the receivers lol. Opinions and observations likely mean diddly squat.
Janarion Grant is looking like he wants to play more offense. Looked great IMO.
Have yet to see Saunders use his speed but he's got good movies. McKnight looks better at the present time.
Looks like they're trying to get Whop (drop) Filyor (sp?) involved. He seems very dynamic running the jet sweep. Got open a lot but (gulp) having trouble catching the ball.
Demski looks so polished out there. Hard to cover.
Bailey is a beast. Not a burner obviously but he's going to make the job hard for DBs due to his size and motor. Looking more and more like Nik Lewis.
Woli didn't have a great day IMO. Dalton Schoen looks to be about the same prototype but is faster. Used his size and speed to back DBs off. Looked good. Lucky Jackson is also a sizeable fast receiver.
McUlvene (sp) looks like one of those guys that quietly makes catches.
Ellingson, Agudosi and B Jackson not practicing.

Wow .....from last tweet o'shea quote on Deatrick Nichols:

"he was extremely humble with the idea he was going to learn as much as he could and take those opportunities to learn, listen, figure it out and not take that for granted.
“He’s an unbelievable football player and super smart. I thought he was a terrific learner last year.”
