Saw a video of from the city councilor for Point Douglas supporting the convoy. One of her main points was that EVERYONE should be able to have a choice when it comes to their body. I'm not sure I understand these people anymore...who doesn't have a choice? Are there literal mobs running around and holding others down to be vaxxed? Am I not aware of military forces holding people in custody until they are vaxxed? What am I missing?

They not only want the choice for their own body, which they've ALWAYS had, but they also want to impose their choice on everyone else and put everyone else at risk. The worst people.

That's hilarious.
The whole convoy is just a hilarious self-own. They don't understand the basics of how our gov't functions. To say that they were just a bunch of ignorant racists probably does a disservice to the level of ineptitude of this klan.

A couple of comments from someone who votes conservative occasionally :
I view this as political suicide. They are ignoring one huge fact. This country is %85 vaxxxed. That %85 will generally be disgusted by the support many PCs are giving to the idiot convoy. They will be pleasing the part of the nation that votes for them no matter what they do. They will be angering the part ( %85 ) of the nation that they need to convince to vote them into power. I can hear the Liberals giggling from here.
I often heard people complain that Harper was to controlling. That everything the party did in his time needed to cross his desk and get his stamp of approval. I bet O'Toole wishes he had that kind of control.
Aside from the afore mentioned political astuteness or lack thereof, I find the reaction of the PC's disgusting. Not only the support of the vocal ones but the deathly silence of the rest.
The PCs challenge is always to appeal to moderate voters. It's the only way they will ever attain power. What's going on now will set their party back to the days of the Reform Party.

What is scary is that if O Toole is turfed, I really think you see a fairly extreme replacement.

I think it would be very helpful if Trudeau, Singh , the current leader of the Bloc and all the sane premiers and MPs got together and posted a video and audio recording condemning the blockades and related criminal actions along with a commitment to vigorously prosecute everyone who crosses the legal line. A show of solidarity will both reassure the vast majority of Canadians and deter more lemmings from joining in.

What an embarrassing, utterly disgraceful moment for this country. A bunch of deranged, hysterical narcissists disrupting a city because they're scared, misinformed, and ignorant, pretending they've been oppressed because of a public health emergency.
Waving Gadsen, Confederate, Nazi, Blue Line, F*ck Trudeau flags; urinating on the war memorial; harassing employees and patrons at a soup kitchen; throwing beer cans at media members; threatening elected officials. And that's only the **** we've heard of thus far. **** the "few bad apples" nonsense with this petulant, nonsensical protest. You're all complicit in this pathetic display that's nothing more than a tantrum by entitled oxygen thieves. Shame on all of you.
And most of all: shame on Brian Peckford. What an opportunistic dummy, trying to sue the feds and propping up his stance because he "helped" draft the Charter.

I don't care what I was protesting , old man or not, if someone is carrying a Nazi flag by me the war is back on. These damn cowards down there protesting are to gutless, or have no problem with Nazis so they allow it in their protest. The same with what went on at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It's disgusting.

I'd like to know how many of these people at the " truckers protest " are actually truckers. Even the ones who actually drove trucks. A good percentage ,maybe half of farms have semis now, or often multiple semis. That doesn't make them truckers. A trucker is someone who makes his living trucking. I have my class 1 and drove trucks both in construction and farming but I'm not a trucker.

3 doses are 60 - 70% effective at preventing infection. Preventing severe out comes - over 90%.

I think we need to understand that the Covid vaccine has similarities to the regular flu shot, which also has break through infections, and has had for a long time.

Canada - % 79 fully vaccinated plus %6 partially vaccinated for a total of % 85 vaccinated . The other %15 I'm sure include a % or 2 who can't get Vaccinated and I feel for them. The rest can sit down, shut up and F off. I have no time for them.

Today is a really sad day for me. I had hoped what we've seen in the US come to the fore during the Trump years would galvanize us against going down the same road. I had hoped conservative politicians would show leadership and create intentional separation between themselves and the far right.
I thought we were better as a country. Nazi flags, partying at the war memorial, Prime Minister needing to be moved, defacing Terry Fox statue - this in a cause that was known to have ties to the far right, yet was encouraged by self-serving politicians with real power in our country. I'm not sure where we go from this level of divisiveness now and I'm genuinely scared for our future.

Walking around with a Nazi flag should be an arrest on sight offence. There sure isn’t much left to the legitimacy of their protest when they allow this to go own.

The timing is equally unbelievable. Today is actually International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I kid you not.

My mother has MS and has lived through 2 different outbreaks at her care home. Luckily she got the vaccine early, is now triple-vaxxed, and was able to avoid catching it both times. She has been battling it since 1987, more than half her life. I was 8 or so when she was diagnosed and have very few memories of her without MS. She's been in a wheel chair for 20+ years but weve been lucky as her condition hasnt really deteriorated over the years very much, yet. Terrible disease with very little known about the origins. Tell your mother-in-law to keep her chin up. Its a disease that can fluctuate and some peoples symptoms get milder over time. New treatments are on the horizon.
