  1. Not one that really anyone else would know, but years ago I worked at Shaw, and near the end of camp had a player who had just made the team call up to get services installed because he was just told he made the team. I want to say his name was Bryan Guebert or something like that? I think he mostly played on special teams for one, maybe two years.

Hope that moment is obscure enough for you!

My question is Fajardo really hurt or did we Brandon Banks him? Almost looked to me as if he just quit on the team.

Haven’t had a chance to watch the broadcast but at the stadium we didn’t hear anything about him being hurt. It was like a quarter later that I realized that Harker was in.

He got his bell rung pretty good when the back of his head smacked the turf on the Jefferson/Thomas sack, I don't think it was even up to him if he wanted to come back or not, pulled for concussion protocol at minimum.

  3. Used to work with a guy like polar bear at Convergys.

Other people kept track of the **** that came out of his mouth in a text file on a network drive, I think they straight up called it "shit_he_said.txt"

all kinds of fun stuff, like his uncle was going to get him a job that paid $30/hour to be a plumber, he was driving his car at 100km/hour down Bishop and popped it into reverse to do a burn out. There was something about distilling his own alcohol to 100% I think too?

Just didn't stop, every day was an adventure with that kid.

  4. This thread got a bit off the rails, wasn't intended to focus on people that made their mind up about never getting the covid vaccine.

Rather, it was just some awareness for the "wait and see" folks to let them know, if you didn't have your first shot yet, well, now you won't be going to the bomber home opener.

"Wait and see" will cost everyone, some people just don't see it until they lose out on something fun they wanted to do.....

  5. Based on the wording out of the province this morning, it sounds like proof of having 2 shots will be required to attend games.

"Large-scale, outdoor professional sports or performing arts events may also allow fully immunized Manitobans to attend, subject to approval by Manitoba Public Health. The province will work with sports and arts organization to implement proof of vaccination protocols for these events."

If you haven't had your first jab yet, and are on the fence, go get your first jab today or tomorrow. There is just enough time if you go right now to get in a 28 day period, get your second jab, and have the 14 day period before you can get your proof of vaccination before the home opener!

Also, do Bomber fans have "special" names for each opposing team?

    BC is the Kitty Cats

Calgary is the Glue-Fuels (well, I dunno, I just made that up.....)

    Edmonton is the Evil Empire

Sask. has many nick names, I usually go with Mustache Riders

Hamilton is also the Kitty Cats

    Toronto is the Ar-Blows

    Ottawa is the RODBLACKS

Montreal is currently playing so bad we all take pity on them and don't use any nicknames

Safely followed the Assiniboine bike path, cross to Wellington, enjoy the nicely swept-twice-a-week roads up to Osborne Village, then take Pembina all the way South to the campus. The painted lines on the road indicating a bike path and plastic bollards every 20 feet made me feel real safe, let me tell you. Going under the tracks was always a treat, especially if it had rained recently. Real nice of people to yield to cyclists at marked bike paths when they're in a rush to get to Staples or A and f'ng W's. The Final Boss was always crossing Bishop over the Pembina bridge and getting past the turnoff without being clipped by someone in a hurry because of all the stadium traffic.

There are some better routes now that make it a pretty good ride and avoids pretty much all the construction, and you only go down Pembina from Chevier to Plaza.

The two spots I couldn't quite get right on this map are going right by the Transit Yards instead of down Brandon, and the area crossing Jubliee.

  8. Okay, it was bugging me so I had to look up the stats from that game:

According to this record of the game: https://www.cfl.ca/games/1314/toronto-argonauts-vs-winnipeg-blue-bombers/

Williams had 8 carries for 14 yards with his longest being 11 yards.

His first Carry was a 2 yard gain, tackle by Doug Brown (Net +2)

Second carry was a loss of 4 yards, tackle by Malveaux (Net -2)

Third carry, gain of 2 yards, tackle by Tom Canada, (Net 0)

Forth carry, gain of 4 yards, tackle by R. Warner (note: I have no recollection of that player?) (Net +4)

Fifth Carry, gain of 1 yard, tackle by Tom Canada, (Net +5)

Sixth Carry, gain of 3 yards, tackle by D Carter, (Net +8)

Seventh carry, loss of 5 yards, tackle by Iceman (Net +3)

Final carry, gain of 11 yards, tackle by $tanford Samuels, (Net +14)

So after seven carries, he was averaging under half a yard a carry....yikes.

don't you already have both wishes?

for sure you've got the wash out of football part.

I went to the game where ricky williams played here. He was like public enemy no.1 out on the field. just surviving the amount of hits he took was impressive.

Going from my memory of being at the game, about halfway through the 4th quarter, Williams gets his longest run of the game, I think it was like...12 yards?. That brought his net total of yards for the game up to 7......

I thought for sure we were going to get scewed on Maas' challenge but nope, officials got it right, unlike the trapped-ball catch earlier in the game.

I wasn't worried about the challenge until they showed they little grab of the front of the jersey, I thought that might be enough for them to justify the call. Luckily, looks like Williams push-offs have now lost him the benefit of the doubt.
