Its pretty common knowledge that Bailey, Jefferson, and Lawler were offered more elsewhere. Hardrick as well. And im sure there are more guys who could have gotten more but didnt bother going to free agency in order to keep the dynasty alive with their brothers.

    Yup. Lawler took a discount

He was the third highest, but that was only 165k. LBs aren’t paid as much as other position groups.

lol. In what world were the Als the best team in the league last year?

Were the bombers the best team in 2019? No.

It doesn't matter who "the best" is.

    What matters is the championship.

The last two years has shown that the championship pedigree isn't there. That's why I'm reticent over the commitment to that core.

Nope - two years running. This was the hardest thing for me to adjust in my head this off-season. We were absolutely the best team in the league the past two seasons, but we didn't get it done in a "one-game-winner-take-all" scenario. It happens. Still no question in my mind we are the elite...class of the league.

    is he getting that?

He was. Correct me if i'm Wrong, but, yeah, he was making like 2nd or 3rd highest salary amongst them.

So the question is -- where are our upgrades as a whole? I just don't see them outright.

Are you expecting him to play on one leg for the 2024 season?

Father time. It's crucial to cut bait before the end, not a year too late.

Bighill has clearly been on the decline for a couple years. He gets washed out like crazy, misses clean tackles, gets beat regularly.

But, hey, maybe I just need to be talked off the ledge after years of PTSD.

I just wish the WBB went more Buono on this and started making the tough decisions that need to be made. I haven't seen a tough decision besides the Hall/Boudreau moves, but that's not the roster.

I think Mike is right as well, FWIW. I think he was a year early with his "fans will start turning prediction", and this year will be the year.

    PROVE ME WRONG EVERYONE PLS

Running it back for year 3 without clear upgrades just seems like a major error, imo.

I feel like too many people are still trapped in the drought. They don't believe that the Bombers can actually be good. Every lose is a harbinger of doom. Every interception is Zach getting too old, every sack is the OL deteriorating. Ignoring the fact that we still placed first in almost every meaningful statistical category for the past 3 seasons.

We are a great team. Period. Full stop.

There are areas we can improve. First glance of the off season (early signings and coaching changes) shows me we are committed to making those improvements.

Fair, but what signings are you really excited about?

    We're going to lose Schoen.

Bighill was a straight liability in the Grey Cup. I don't see reason for much optimism there amongst the LB corps
Collaros has been dog **** for 3 straight Grey Cups, sans showing up super clutch in OT in 2021.

I'm not disagreeing with you, btw, I'm just not seeing many upgrades.

I feel the opposite way you do. I'm quite excited to bring back as much of the core as we can.

    I hope you're right!

My fears are the dam started showing cracks last year (that anyone could see) and that the dam bursts this year.

At worst, what, this roster should pull out 11, 12 wins. And maybe that's just us being entitled at this point. And it is the CFL, after all. A 3 game win streak wins it all 🤣

  7. Collaros hasn't shown up for a Grey Cup since 2019. Caught lightning in a bottle then.

2020 cup Collaros went 21/32 for 240, 2 TD, 2 INT. Got to OT in spite of him. If Steinhauer isn't a moron and doesn't concede that single Bombers lose.
The only difference was he showed up clutch in OT, and yes he deserves credit for that.

Garbage in the next 2 cups.

This is a get it done league, not barely show up when it actually counts leage. Personally I'm ready to move on

is that not for the Players cap?...Or does the admin cap carry the same penalty too?

    applies to both.

The serious penalties start coming in at 100k+ on both in the form of draft picks and 2:1 penalties

It's worth it for any contending team to go over 99k on both.

Burn 198k in fines, but make up that revenue as a drop in the bucket hosting playoff games.

What's the penalty for exceeding the operations cap? Might be nothing more than a slap on the wrist, could be Miller decided retaining Buck was worth the price of the penalty, and upped him just enough to convince him to stay.  The team was already at the top of the cap, so there wasn't any loose change to throw Buck's way.

Teams that violate the cap are subject to a dollar-for-dollar fine for the first $100,000 they go over. For violations over $100,000, teams will forfeit a draft pick(s) while being assessed a fine between $25,000 to $250,000.

I would be perfectly okay with purposely going $99,000 over the operations cap every year if it means retaining the staff.

I have no doubt we were banged up at receiver but we had guys we could have used instead.  Did BOLO even see the field?  Ambles was brought in for this exact scenario and wasn't dressed.  Grant started the game at receiver but I didn't notice him there after that.  The options were there and we chose not to use them.

The decision to let these all these guys play in their condition was a failure of the coaching staff and the players themselves.

Exactly. Biggie hobbling around only to get absolutely torched was on coaching.

    Brutal decision

Taken from another site. Are these accurate?

Collaros playoffs as a Bomber -
    9 starts 6 tds 8 ints 1854 yards(206 yards per game) 144/209 (68.89%, 8.87 ypa)

Yup. And further - since the covid season in 6 playoff games ZC has just 4 TDs and 8 INTs.

1:2 TD:INT. Unacceptable for a rookie, never mind the highest paid player in the league.
