If we win tonight (giving us 96 points) and the Wild lose in Chicago (they would be stuck at 96) we are tied (Minny has the ROW) with a chance to take the first wildcard spot in Colorado with Minny still having to play on the road against Nashville and St. Louis. Let them worry about Calgary and LA . Who'd a thunk that a few weeks back?

Myers has never had and will never have the nastiness Pronger has/had. I'm not taking anything away from him but his nastiness level is closer to Dave Babych's than Chris Pronger's.

I have complete faith that the Jets will make sure the Flames game is meaningless.  You can take that any way you like.

You need two A level D to win a cup in this league. Myers and Trouba can be those two. Then need really solid 4 guys around them Buff Stuart Chiroit and Enstrom is a pretty good solid 4.

The thing about fans like us who go on forums to discuss hockey, we're the group that loves this to a hardcore degree and our emotions rise and fall with the team.  Its easy to see when looking at Buff this season.  he literally went from being considered trade bait a great forward to a Norris contender on D to the most unique and valuable hybrid player to being a bum on D and people wanting him on forward again and finally now to "trade him". 
 
When a player plays great we annoint him King.  When a player has a bad game, sometimes just a bad shift, we want him run out of town.  Balance is the key.
 
To me, our RHD is among the best in the league.  Could be the best.  The key is getting minutes for all of them.  I almost think thats more important than money right now because of Myers contract which will pay him less cash then his cap hit and arguably a lot less cash than he deserves, plus if Morrissey can make the team it means we are saving money on the LHD to use on the RHD.
 
My concern is them trying to shoehorn a RHD onto the left side.  If it works, great, it means we have an elite top four.  But if its just to keep players happy, maybe we do need to cut our losses, trade a RHD and move on.  We could easily get a second pairing LHD and a quality bottom pairing RHD plus for any of our current RHD in a trade.

Enstrom is a quiet but efficient D-man. The kind any team would like to have on their roster.

Saying signing another journeyman / UFA goalie will get the Jets into the playoffs so it makes sense to buy Pavelec out is a huge stretch.
 
Look at Dallas and Colorado.  Playoff teams last year and out of the playoffs this year.  The margin of error and difference between the bottom 4 teams that make the playoffs and the top 4 teams that miss the playoffs in each conference is so small that simply replacing a goalie will not guarantee you make it.  So many other things go into it during the course of a season.  (Yes I know this will be your argument for getting a different goalie).
 
Your darn right my reasons for keeping Pavelec is fear that there is nothing better.  You keep saying how easy it is to go out and get another goalie, and this is one of the biggest issues I have with your arguments.  
 
Free agency is unpredictable.  Are there goalies available?  Yes.   Does it mean the Jets are going to automatically going to get one?  No.  If you haven't noticed, Winnipeg isn't one of the choice off season destinations.  Small market team ... cold climate ... live in a fish bowl .... team has a history of not making the playoffs ... I'm sure we are on top of the short list of all free agents.
 
So the other option is trade for one.  Getting rid of Pavelec BEFORE you go out and make that trade is foolish, because all the other GMs will know you are hooped and will bend you over to trade you a goalie that they don't want (assuming they have 2 starting calibre goalies ... if they only have 1 why the hell would they trade it).
 
If we can upgrade Pavelec, great.   But you don't put yourself in a position of weakness.  You upgrade first.

Yup, Toby isn't a legit D man and neither is Myers or Stuart or Chiarot. Trouba hasn't been playing all that well the last 1/4 or so  of the season...
