  2. I think the CFL is a marketing dinosaur who doesn't know how to sell their product and hasn't for 20 years. I think there is incredible untapped potential to grow the game. I would not limit that progress because others might be watching. That's the point, get people to watch. I do not consider it taking the high road, I consider the secrecy cutting our own legs out.

  4. The league needs better marketing. Winnipeg has done very well. BC with their new owner seems to get it and they appear to be trying new things to build attendance. Edmonton too. I was watching a doc on the Vancouver Grizzlies and they talk to one of the original Raptors owners. He mentions they purposely didn't try to be the Leafs and sought out newcomers, kids and women and marketed to them. CFL needs to have that mentality.

  6. Not bad for a family of 4. Atmosphere at a live game is way better than tv.

  7. What the Bombers have done outside of winning is make going to games an event. They have a lot of activities and things for families, young adults, and everyone in between. What they have done pre-game lower the cost of concessions and beer has made it economically friends. I know was at the arena couple of weeks ago and got a hot dog and drink and it was $16 bucks. For that, I could have got a drink and 3 hot dogs at the stadium.

This tragedy, and the apathetic response by many US voters underscores yet again the utter and enduring fanatical insanity that is endemic there and will inevitably doom them. All we can do is hope that we will not be collateral damage.

No person needs to own a gun that does that much damage to a person especially children, it is a killing machine and the only thing you hunt with this waepon are people.

Canadian schools have multiple doors and we watch the same tv and movies, listen to the same music and play the same video games. Canada does not have the same issue with school shootings. Only difference is gun axis. Of course, mention this to many americans and they'd likely deflect and call you a devil worshiping, pedo, commie sob

  11. Mid 90's has the highest attendance overall, but we also had a bunch of extra teams at that time in the US.....and Baltimore was killing it in attendance in an ex-NFL stadium. Really drove those numbers up. 5 decades ago most stadiums were papered with 5 dollar tickets you could buy at 7-11 or the gas station. It's how I saw most of my games when I was a teenager. It was fantastic for the young fan, but not a very good business plan as the league fell into a financial black hole soon afterwards.

  14. 41-30-3 @ 19-39-15 Jets are 0-0-1 against the Sharks. Time: 9:30 PM, TV: TSN3 Smashville is 5 points behind with 2 games in hand. Flames are 4 points behind and play LA tonight. After that, the Flames play no other playoff bound teams and have a much easier schedule. Jets still have Minnesota and Colorado on the docket. I'll beat this dead horse --- the Jets need to string together some points.

Apparently Republicans in Congress have done nothing re guns in America and are all out of idea, as one Congressman from Tennessee says we are not going to fix it, criminals are criminals. These are the kind of politicians that should not be in politics.

What's gross is that their support rose, seemingly from cutting a bunch of cheques and blaming the feds for Manitobans' woes. It's pretty pathetic.

I was told that Trudeau was Hitler and we lived in a communist state when I suggested not giving the problem (people) guns. Hitler and communism both in Canada at the same time. What a time to be alive!

  20. We got Dobson back because his contract was voided when he had work visa issues. Had nothing to do with the NFL. If he doesn't have visa issues he is in the USFL right now. Dobson did not choose the CFL.

  22. There's no accounting for taste! Yeah if the CFL got the kind of support the NHL gets (from everyone... fans, various levels of government, media) we wouldn't be having this conversation.

  23. Regardless....if someone is good enough to be on the NFL radar, they will be. Combine or not. Other Canadian talent that might opt for the other 2 leagues wouldn't be recruited from Uni ball. Too much talent down south for them to really care....at the moment anyway. They would get recruited via pro film/try outs.

  25. Hamilton, under the Caretaker, also does a decent job, I think. Ottawa has been doing a good job since day 1. Sounds like the new guy in Montreal is going to be doing a lot. So it's Calgary and Toronto that really do next to nothing. SF27 is off his nut in a lot of posts lately, but he's right that the Stamps ownership group is just AWFUL at marketing the team, the population of Calgary doesn't give a **** about the Stamps, the stadium is garbage and is a bit of a pain to get to (tho at least there's the c-train). There's a lot of changes that need to be made to the Stamps to make them relevant again.

re fossil fuelled climate.....when you see what is happening now, world over, and the un says not even close to doing what is needed. tahoe fifty six feet of snow has fallen. and most people across all age groups just dont seem to care. for the most part, just ignoring this. flying, huge trucks, boats, rv. Canada, and the world, still investing huge amounts, in oil. El Nino is probably coming this summer. outlook is grim. since the easy path has not been taken, wonder what the path will be. since we always seem to do things the hard way, probably will be completely crazy geo engineering. 27. This right here is the point... the owners need to do a better job of marketing their teams. The new owner in BC has the right attitude about it, and even called out Toronto's owners last year for not marketing their team. The problem isn't with the ratio or the rules, it's with some of the teams doing a really poor job of marketing.

  30. the pre-game tailgate at the stadium is a lot of fun. Our pre-game usually starts at Stone Angel for GOOD beer, but we always end up at the tailgate area for at least a half hour before we head in to our seats. It really is a great time every time at the ol' barn (and the winning doesn't hurt, either...)

  35. We didn't get Dobson because the spring league let him go. We got Dobson back because the NFL wasn't interested, even after the spring league. His financial ceiling is much higher in the CFL than anywhere else currently. Again, I doubt many scouts from xfl/usfl would be scouring the Usports combine to find guys when they have a plethora of talent easily available in their own country. If they want anyone from Canada it'll be because of what they've shown in the CFL, not the combine.

  36. Yea....it's unfortunate for sure. Hard to find too many DTs that stay healthy and have long careers. Those trenches just chew people up...particularly on the defensive side of the ball for some reason.

  37. Yep, got reported back in October that he was on track to return before playoffs but got hurt again. Was only reported as a "setback" so I don't think anyone (at least outside the team) knew how bad it was until now. https://3downnation.com/2022/10/13/defensive-tackle-steven-richardson-suffers-setback-to-achilles-injury-will-not-play-for-lions-this-season/

  38. The quote out of BC seems to indicate that he re-tore the achilles again when he was almost ready to come back. If so, it's likely a career ender.

voters as well Some Uvalde families spent their days and nights over the past several months rallying, marching, tweeting, camping out and protesting in the hope that their fellow Texans would hear their cries for gun reform and vote for Democrat Beto O'Rourke for Texas governor. But Tuesday's election showed their actions in their community weren't loud enough: Republican Gov. Greg Abbott garnered more than 60% of the vote in Uvalde County and is projected to win the race and be reelected as governor. American citizens seem to be trapped.

  41. We need to get back to the OUR LEAGUE HAS BIGGER BALLS mentality of marketing. Sure wish we had that commissioner back. We saw a league renaissance of sorts, and then the bottom fell out when he left.

    2023 CFL Draft Discussion

We have already seen how certain types want to americanize the game. I think it's wilful ignorance to suggest that no ratio wouldn't mean going to full on american rules. The game is fine, the rules are fine, the ratio is fine. The problem is lazy assed teams not wanting to put in the work to grow the game in their own markets.
