  1. Elks delusion aside, that is a good question. What is the best trade for each franchise? Bombers first - a top 5 come to mind: 5. Matt Nichols for a 7th round conditional pick - team was a dumpster fire and he brought them back to contender status and ultimately a Grey Cup (albeit with him injured). And given the price this was an absolute steal. One of the two big trades (Pat Neufeld for Alex Hall being the other) that transformed the club. 4. Khari Jones, Moe Eliwonibi, and a draft pick for Chris Perez and a draft pick (two simultaneous trades) - Jones was the thrown-in part of the deal. An MOP, single season franchise records, 2001 Grey Cup appearance and the best QB-receiver combo in history with Stegall. Re-built the team from the depths of the Reinbold era (IMO the worst the franchise has ever been). Had he lasted longer than 4.5 years and won a Cup this would rank higher. 3. Tom Clements for Dieter Brock - a king’s ransom to get him, but Brock was not going to play here so this was a “how do we salvage something” move, and was pretty amazing considering the quality of QB we got back given our hand was forced. And then it turns out we got the better QB going forward. And an MOP award, and a Grey Cup. 2. Doug Brown - a first and third round pick for rights to a guy who might never have signed was a bit pricy if it didn’t pan out, but because it did this is a massive steal of a trade for one of the greatest Canadian defensive players ever. The backbone of the team for a decade. 1. Zach Collaros for a second round pick (turned into a first when he re-signed). Two Grey Cups (and front runners for a third), an MOP award (and front runner for a second), 29-3 in meaningful games since he got here. Yeah, I’d say this is the biggest steal in Bomber history.

  2. One would love to disagree with this post, say you’re demonizing intelligent Canadians who just think different than you but I think unfortunately you’re bang on. There is no true well thought out conservative platforms here to help the average Canadian with diverse backgrounds. Easy access to social media and a narrow view on social and economic issues spells jackpot for guys like PP and his enablers who are following Trumps playbook to a tee. He’s already posted a video letting his mouth breathers know they’re ‘winning’. What a lazy **** he and his enablers are. Hope it blows up in their face.

  3. With the decline of main stream media the politically illiterate population in Canada seems to be growing to match the US, these are people who are not at all interested in politics, never followed or understood our system of govt. and in fact hate the subject with passion. They simply react to dog whistles and bumper stickers and are enthusiastic to vote for any moron they don't currently hate to lead them over a cliff. The CPC understands this well, encourages it, and happily exploits it.

I have generally voted Conservative but in the past few years, I have moved away from the party or the party has moved away from me. Lots of policies I can't support like not thinking climate change is real or support for the Convoy. PP and this party scare me as its Trump style MAGA nonsense. Sadly I can see the focus on cost of living and housing helping them win despite the Cons offering no real policy in this area.

It is important for people who see things from the right side of the political spectrum to realize the party is moving away from them toward a very unhealthy MAGA-style politics fueled by, and propagating misinformation. It is better for our country to have a party on the conservative side that actually believes in conservative values, rather than what they currently represent. The sane part of the country/party need to drag the party back towards that after Bergen/PP rather than toward the Bernier/PPC side. We've seen how that egg can't be unscrambled in the US. Why would anyone want to go in that direction? I'm legitimately baffled that the events in the US haven't pushed the PC party closer to the centre to avoid that at all costs. Several unsuccessful elections in a row so stoop to a strategy that has worked elsewhere?

  19. hate hate hate seeing a receiver running horizontally after they make a catch three yards behind the first-down stick. Behar got away with it, but still... some sweet sack dancing from the rouge et noir but shocked that TSN reran it like six times given how crotchy it was. Rod and Matty .. best CFL broadcast team.

I suspect that the "thinking" of the CPC is that since centre-right positioning has not gained them power, the more of what is abhorrent to the majority of Canadians just might work. No doubt they look longingly at Alberta and Saskatchewan and hope to make that work federally.

  22. First world problems. As per usual, TSN takes a feel good story, runs with it & never stops talking about it. They make it sound like Dane Evans overcame a mountain to win that game against the Bombers & that his career will now take off as a starter. Because they constantly talked about it & the Bomber defense gave TSN some pretty good material & made Evans into some kind of hero. They continued to do that last night in the first half vs the Als when Evans was "on fire" again. When the Als pulled ahead & won, it was funny how Rob & Matty had stopped talking about it. It wasn't relevant anymore. Now before anyone else says I'm insensitive & my comments are "disgusting" , I'm just going to say that Cody Fajardo suffers from a lot of the same things that Evans does emotionally. Yet some of the same posters here who praise Evans for his courage are the same ones who mock & laugh at Fajardo when he fails & melts down on the field. Or say that he's a whiner when he complains. Only because he's a Rider.

Disagree in terms of MB Libs. I've thought for a while that Lamont is the best provincial party leader I've seen in this province in a while and Manitoba would do best with a Liberal government. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much to cheer for them because Lib/NDP fighting out the sane parts of MB isn't enough to overcome to moron mob.

  27. It gets crazier the more I think of it. Grant was a good punter most of the time as I recall... but EDM didn't actually 'receive' Jabar Westerman, they received (and then traded away) the 1st round pick that eventually became 2nd overall Jabar Westerman. Jyles played half a season that ended with him being demoted to 3rd string behind an ancient Kerry Joseph and youngish Matt Nichols. A crossover to the East saw EDM defeated by none other than eventual GC champion Ricky Ray and his Argos. Ray played another 5 seasons (winning another GC along the way) before retiring a CFL legend and first ballot HoFer. In what universe is that a good deal for EDM?

I've seen models that suggest 15 waves, which would likely arrive at the peak of the tide. This is going to be devastating and cost millions (billions?) to fix. But, we can't afford carbon pricing. Or any measures that might prevent O&G from being hugely profitable.

  34. I'm not even thinking of this year but also going forward .. no guarantee Jeffcoat comes back for another season after this and we have to start planning for the gradual turnover of our core players. Bring people in. Immerse them in the team culture while we have those leaders here.

  35. ehhhh but if you're the Bombers do you want to do that? Bring him up here, get him adjusted to the team/league again, and then he bolts back south? I think if you're going to bring him back up here, you want him to commit for the rest of the season.

The polling after Poillievre became leader is fascinating. He seems to be pretty popular in BC, the prairies, and Ontario with all 3 published polls showing the Cons with leads in these areas, and surprisingly even Quebec where they are statistically tied now with the Liberals. What shocks me is how popular he is in the 18-35 age range. Quite a substantial jump in support there and amongst women voters as well. Momentum seems to be building behind him. Now go on and bash this factually correct post if you'd like, but I think a lot of people are underestimating Poillievre's popularity overall and not just with the alt-right.
